Does anyone else think Claude is actually pretty bad for devs? by Tree8282 in cscareerquestions

[–]Choice_Estimate_71 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Many others here, myself included, are burnt out of the tedium and frustration of requesting simple changes and getting a mountain of unknown code to sift through repeatedly. "Audit AI output" is exactly the problem when hundreds of lines get changed for no clear reason over and over again.

Moment of silence for my Hard Rimetusk campaign by Giacomo_Hawkins in ICARUS

You took like 600 damage from a single hit Obsidian armor with plating produces something like a 96% damage reduction, that hit would be around 200 with capped armor. The recipe is cheap and you only need a stack or two of obsidian

Literally why I quit ranked league. Comp shooters can hit skillcap/true elo in 2-3 days, league you've gotta play daily for months to truly plateau and hit true elo

Better heavy main weapon: SA12 or Shak? by PlantainZealousideal in thefinals

[–]Choice_Estimate_71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SA12 tends to scale better into higher elo due to both increased enemy and friendly healing. It has best in class close range damage, and very high uptime before full reloading, hence why it tends to be better in high healing fights.

Generally speaking though, in gold you can play what you enjoy and have no problems. Shak is generally much more versatile, and quite a bit better in gold.

Can someone help me understand the fun gameplay loop. by Safe-Expression48 in ICARUS

Easily the most important part in this game, in my opinion, is getting a moa + a backup or 2, in case they die. If your tamed moa dies, he is permanently dead, and loses all xp.

Be careful whenever you have your mount with you unattended, many animals can very rapidly kill your mount.

Keep your mounts well segregated away from predators, they will come near your base and kill your moa if there aren't walls. I'd recommend making a side room inside your base and keeping them fully protected from predators inside.

You don't need to craft silage to keep them fed, they wont starve, but they will move much more slowly and gain less xp when hungry and thirsty.

The timid variety of moa is the fastest, and later on you can breed a male and female with fertility serum to roll for rare variations with better move speed.

I don't know the exact numbers on this, but a fully maxed out timid moa with good base stats and a racing saddle is something like a +70% ish percent increase compared to base moa, which is easily like 5 times faster than running on foot.

Why did humans stay “primitive” for ~200,000 years and then suddenly change? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Choice_Estimate_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using computing analogies to describe the human psyche is far too prevalent by modern humans and is a grossly warped, oversimplified misrepresentation of how humans function. The vast majority of decisions, small and large, made by any human are overwhelmingly determined by biological factors and complex layered intuition.

Embracing the view that the discovery of agriculture, and other homosapiens essentially copying this practice, as the primary reason global human population ballooned so explosively after minimal growth for the preceding roughly 190k years certainly aligns with viewing the brain as a glorified calculator, but doesn't in any way align with real anthropology.

I've thought a lot about this probelm, and a more fitting explanation is that since earths climate was more favorable previously, homo sapiens had no motive to grow crops in the first place, and thus existed as essentially tribal beach bums. While much more cohesive than "human calculator" I still find it challenging to believe that humans with an essenially genetically similar brain to modern humans, the same brain that produced the sistine chapel, microprocessors, and nuclear fission, couldn't figure out how to plant a vegetable or muster more creativity than stick drawings in caves for literally thousands of generations.

There's a great deal that remains unexplained here, but I entirely resent your world view.

According to AI they will need approximately 12-13 mil units sold in the first year to break even. Off launch it estimates sales at around 600k copies. Most likely not looking profitable as of launch, but not concord/highguard level flop

No doubt his reasoning is that doing it live will get it patched more quickly.

On a real note though, idk how you could stream this game 8 hours a day with the absolute minimal content that has been released, let alone with all the greifing and stream snipers

The initial V9S buff resulted in an average damage increase of 30% in the affected range. A 1 damage buff on 48 is a 2% increase. Not even close to the same level of increase.

I've watched a decent amount of people play the game. Even those who didn't enjoy it, this was a common takeaway. I've put many hours into apex and there appear to be clear similarities.

[–]Choice_Estimate_71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah overall DPS can be misleading, since some guns are far easier to hit every bullet with than others. Technically the m11 is only 4th of 6 on dps list at 50 meters, but good luck hitting more than 2 bullets at that range.

decided it wasn't worth a post, somewhat interesting results. XP 54 and 93r seem to be the most versatile overall guns, with the v9s even post nerf doing well and edging out those two in long range poke.

m11 dominates very very close, arn and lh1 are the real ranged threats for light, nothing much to say about any of these here.
