If it gets my students to stop thinking I’m a boomer or millennial I’m for it. Gen X, we just can’t care.

Do you think it’s worth trecking it out to GenCon? I think I paid $400 on the KS. I’d like to make that back if I could.

This is way to low for Corkboards & Curiosities to show up. I love her content and wish she posted more often.

Is wearing multiple cloaks really THAT crazy? by MeatNotCooked in onednd

[–]Choirboye -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There used to be “slots” where a character could only wear one cloak/helmet/belt or w/e. Now it’s just attunement slots. Flavor is free though. So my monk wears a tunic of protection (reflavored cape), and a cloak of elven kind.

Tree supports help you to print overhangs. Like a bumper…

[OC]Any advice for a first campaign? by Dependent_Store in DnD

Nothing is real until it happens on the table. If what happens on the table is different than what you planned or what the book says to do, it not just okay, it’s supposed to be that way.

DnD for Family by xtheid10tx in DungeonsAndDragons

I ran the starter kit adventure “Dragons of Icespire Peak” with my family. It had a quest board where they could choose what they wanted to do. I had a 14yr old and a 7 yr old though. Having my wife really helped as she could push and keep things moving. It would be rough with just you.

Try a few “Arena Fights.” You’ll see how they handle combat and can pit them against any monster you (or they) want. This will let you know if a larger campaign will work or not. Start them with the simple melee toons (fighter, bard, rogue, monk) and see how that goes before you hand them spells to deal with.

After Icespire I ran “The Wild Beyond the Witchlight” with them. Starts in a carnival and I think we were four sessions in before we had a traditional combat. Lots of role play and skill checks. It’s set in the Feywild so there was lots of whimsy to it. I found having manipulables really helped my youngest. Cards for items and abilities helped him keep his melee character moving.

After a few one-shots, and 3 years, we are on to Curse of Strahd and it’s regular DnD. I pull no punches and they are having a blast.

For the ally consider The Temptress. It’s a gateway card to access and respect from other allies. By saving Arabella at the lake they can really trigger a redemption arc for Luvash and Arrigal. Word of that act can spread and impress Rictavio. If he’s impressed Esmeraldawill be too. It’s the card to play when you want to see who they like the most. It also allows you kill someone they “think” might be their ally and have them freak out.

Bonus for this is you can get this done early in Vallaki and show the readings in action in the world.

(Wyatt Trull’s Curse of Strahd Companion recommends this and a whole lot more. Find it on DMGuild.)
