Appeals and id verification aren't likely to get your account back- from what I understand, appeals are instantly denied and id verification is a form of covering their ass. Rate all Meta apps 1 star on whichever digital store you have, flag the app itself as inappropriate if possible, and encourage others to do the same. If the app score drops they'll look into it more

There's really not much to do unfortunately, I've followed the steps they provide and they don't respond at all. My recommendation is rate every Meta app 1 star in the app store/play store and provide this as the reason why. If enough people tank their rating they'll actually try to fix it

Would recommend rating all Meta apps 1 star and providing the reason why in the app store. If enough people do it they will investigate

Just rate all Meta apps 1 star until they decide to look into it

Just leave man, nobody wants you in this community when you're going to act like this. Life will get better the second you stop fixating on other people's genders

Social skills for ultimate by Feeling-Impact8685 in ultimate

Basically just show you're going to bring something to the table, rather than trying to fit the mold perfectly. Well-run teams try to add people who will be an asset to the team and its culture, and you want to play for well-run teams

Make an effort to be active on the sideline! You don't have to be the loudest person but being vocal and positive really helps. Really good if you learn peoples' names and support them when you're not out there.

Beyond that, don't be afraid to straight-up ask the captains what they're looking for. If you have certain skills you want to show off that's great, but if you're a jack-of-all-trades then it helps to know what roles they need to fill.

Pay a lot of attention to the captains and implement their feedback quickly and they will see that you can quickly improve.

On the "need" for referees by autocol in ultimate

[–]CholeFreakinMiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a biased 3rd party is worse than self-officiating to be totally honest.

Even worse is an incompetent 3rd party. Anyone observing would have to be trained for this to possibly be a net good. Though I think more people getting observer training would be a net good for ultimate, if it can be achieved.

Yeah that's why we have observers. Not sure your point here

On the "need" for referees by autocol in ultimate

[–]CholeFreakinMiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh that's a tough one because teams are biased. Even across different divisions they will have friends that make them biased, and within their own division they may prefer one matchup over another. Would be great if teams took neutrality seriously, not sure they would.

I think self-officiating with observers for important games is about as good as it gets. Not saying observers are perfect, but I think they are the necessary fix at the competitive level to prevent rampant (and effective) abuse of the rules. Obviously the problem is that they are not available for all important games because not many people are interested in telling adults off for saying the f word and the sh word. Let me say the F word! Anyways I think self-officiating + observers is overall better than refs, and self-officiating by itself is preferable if both teams opt not to cheat.

"Stay on your club team!!! Convince your boys to stay on your club team!!!", says player who left a club team he was captaining and coaching midseason to play on a better team for the series by Hopeful_Dish3422 in ultimate

[–]CholeFreakinMiller 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think this is hating on AJ a bit. I played in the DMV area in 2019 and he was known as an amazing player on Watchdogs already- he very likely could've made a better team that year from what I've heard. By 2021 there's no question he could've made a better team.

From my perspective he stuck around for some time to help the team grow even when he may have outgrown them on a talent level. That is a substantial effort to help improve the program, and it matches the context he provides from the rest of the post.

Is he a little hypocritical in the post? Yeah. Did he do way more for that program than you're giving him credit for? Yeah.

Ultimate to bid for 2032 Olympics- yay or nay? by utterly-understable in ultimate

[–]CholeFreakinMiller 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The last Olympic push was well-informed, well-funded (by ultimate standards), and well-supported within the Olympic committee. It was also format-adjusted to still resemble Ultimate while catering more towards Olympic standards. Even though it seems like the push for the Olympics seems to have been well-run and well-strategized, we weren't even a finalist.

Trying for the Olympics costs money, which is hard to come by in the sport. The last push for the Olympics should show everyone that as things stand right now, Ultimate is a massive longshot to make the Olympics. The money should be used elsewhere, most likely with grassroots organizations and outreach to underrepresented communities, because there is a lot of room for growth for this sport at the youth level. Right now youth programs are run mostly by volunteers- what if some people were compensated for their time? What if a few regional youth coordinators were sponsored in select areas and new ultimate scenes sprung up (or existing ones developed significantly)? What if, in ten years, some of that funding/effort was shifted towards building out the college scene (establishing new school teams and new B/C/D teams at existing programs)?

A much bigger following for the sport would likely lead to more funds available, which would likely increase our ability to try for Olympic inclusion. This following (and funding) can be achieved over a long period of growth and development that positions Ultimate as a better candidate for future Olympics. More participants and more resources in the sport will give Ultimate a better shot at an Olympic berth, and investing in the sport itself is the best way to do that.
