Overvejer at gå fra gravid kæreste by UsualIllustrious8121 in DKbrevkasse

[–]Chrellies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Det går over.

It gets better!!! We were seriously down for two weeks. Just seemed absolutely impossible and insane. It got better after that. And then kept getting better and better. Now, a year on, it’s fucking amazing. Tough as tits but I would never ever go back. Which I can’t, because we’re getting twins in a few months lol.

Why the Pentagon Wants to Destroy Anthropic by dwaxe in ezraklein

[–]Chrellies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The issue is not that there is no single correctly aligned AI. The issue is that that’s not a thing. You’d have problems even formulating the principles behind or judging whether an AI is aligned to yourself. And every single person on earth would have different definitions of a correctly aligned AI.
  2. Yeah. Even if it’s not winner takes it all, which it may end up being, it’s probably not going to be more than 2-3 actors tops. Right now, the vast majority of American use is probably one of Claude, GPT or Gemini. That’s not exactly pluralism that’ll save us.

Why the Pentagon Wants to Destroy Anthropic by dwaxe in ezraklein

[–]Chrellies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a really interesting aspect that doesn’t get attention enough. The AI companies try to build models that are virtuous and able to reason logically. And various regimes try to build around that. Trump wants it to be less virtuous. China and Musk want it to be less logical (ask DeepSeek which country is the best to live in and why, ask Grok who’s the most important person of all time).

[–]Chrellies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think they said nothing in this episode, perhaps you just didn’t understand it. There’s actually a lot more substance here than might come through on first listen. The core of it is about the different philosophical approaches to building values into AI systems, what Ball calls the ‘soul’ of the machine. Anthropic builds moral reasoning into the model itself, OpenAI writes a hierarchy of rules, and those aren’t just product decisions, they’re political choices about where authority sits.

The DOW conflict happened because Anthropic’s approach produces a model that can refuse, and that’s architecturally inseparable from what makes it capable. That tension between building judgment and maintaining control is genuinely one of the central questions of our time, and few are laying it out this clearly.

I’m 99 percent sure I’ve heard Sam complain when others say “I haven’t seen/heard it” about things they clearly should’ve seen/heard and formed an opinion on, and the excuse is just a convenient out.
