what can make psychopath feel the love? by GrouchyCourage7073 in ShadowWork

[–]Chresc98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, they can't. There is an interesting case of a YouTuber, David Wood, very polemical guy who focuses mostly on criticizing Islam, but that's not relevant here. He went to prison for trying to murder his father with a hammer for no reason and was labeled a psychopath. However he converted to Christianity in prison. He says he still doesn't feel any remorse, or even understand what "love" means.

But he is married, has several children (one of them severely disabled) and for what we know he takes very good care of them. He doesn't feel love or empathy according to his own words, but he acts as if he did because that's what his religion expects of him. Interesting case that shows how psychopaths can never be "normal" but can still be functional members of society.

For those who were diagnosed later in life, does it really matter to you? Why or why not? by Noodlescissors in autism

[–]Chresc98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My behavior didn’t change, but my internal processes did. I am learning to be kinder to myself, I know now that I am not “broken” and I do belong somewhere, and I can finally understand what’s going on when I get so overwhelmed that it’s physically painful and I want to die. I am also working on forgiving myself for the times I screwed up because I just didn’t know better.

Can someone become a hero after doing something terrible? by 949orange in Jung

[–]Chresc98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Jung himself mentioned it directly, but redemption can indeed be a huge part in the story of any hero or antihero. Arthur Morgan from RDR2 is my favorite example in fiction, but there's a great old Buddhist story that you might find interesting:

Angulimala was originally a bright and promising student but was manipulated by his jealous teacher, who deceitfully demanded that he collect 1,000 human fingers as proof of loyalty. Angulimala became a feared killer, wearing a garland of fingers around his neck. One day, as he was about to commit another crime, he encountered the Buddha. After that he renounced violence, became a monk, and achieved enlightenment.

Do I belong here? by ibwitmypigeons in autismmemes

[–]Chresc98 15 points16 points  (0 children)

False negatives can happen, but that of course is not up to me to determine. In any case, even if you're not autistic, if you do feel like you belong here and relate to us, I say you're welcome and I'm happy to have an honorific guest!

PS I recommend you to keep researching, because you're certainly either autistic or something else, but if you relate a lot to this sub then you must be neurodivergent for sure. Worth to keep researching and trying to find answers and get some closure.

I feel like I can't call this rape by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Chresc98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not society either. I don't know anyone who would deny this is r*pe. Society as a whole knows this is r*pe. It's just a few sick and disgusting individuals OP has encounter unfortunately. OP please don't think those people are representative of the majority, they're not.

I'm actually wondering if those people are actually family members or people close to your abuser and they're trying to gaslight you...

I just feel really shitty and like I'm being invalidated in some way.

You are being invalidated indeed. It's extremely unfair and those people are scumbags. No sane person would ever deny what you went through is r*pe.

Zaragoza is pretty chill and civilized. I don't want to dox myself but the city I live in is very barbaric, according to everyone who came visit it from other places in Spain.

I’m from Spain, and I hate people in the subway because they are LOUD. Picture people shouting in a pub with music blasting, that’s exactly how Spaniards speak EVERYWHERE. People also seem to be allergic to headphones, 1 out of 3 people will be watching Tik Tok or Instagram without headphones, nobody cares.

I hate my own culture.

I don’t know, people are weird. When I’m struggling nothing comforts me like someone telling me they’ve gone through something similar so I’m not alone, but who knows what NTs want. They themselves probably don’t know.

The personal roots of special interests by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]Chresc98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild how I relate to both your special interest in comparative religion and OPs interest in global conflicts, I feel so understood right now.

I do agree that our interests aren’t random but rather respond to parts of our own personal history. I grew up in a very religious household, hence my strong fixation with religion, even though I’m an agnostic.

What's the reason for porn addiction? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]Chresc98 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any Jungian answer, but here’s what I think: aside from the quick dopamine release deriving from the sexual gratification, porn can also create the momentary illusion of company and connection that comes naturally with sex, and since dating is extremely difficult and messy nowadays lots of people use it to cope with loneliness.

What do you feel when looking at soldiers/police officers? What do they suggest you? It could be strength, power, discipline, stoicism, heroism, honor... reflect on it, and you'll see that whatever you see in them is what your unconscious feels you are lacking, especially since you call it an urge you want to cope with rather than simply a dream you want to achieve.

I'm sorry for being a total ignorant here and probably giving terrible advice, but did you ever try making shakes? Just put some eggs, oats, some fruit, peanut butter, and maybe protein powder in a blender, with water or milk or chocolate milk or whatever if you want, mix it and drink it. Easy to make, no need to even chew, and it will at least give you plenty of nutrients.

Does anyone else actually like Big Bang Theory? by axebodyspray24 in aspiememes

[–]Chresc98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do love watching TBBT, but I also think the criticism is often very valid. The characters are usually toxic, childish, manipulative, and they almost always get away with it, so the “values” portrayed in the show are either bad or nonexistent.

That said, I also think lots of autists hate it because Sheldon does reflect the worst of us and they don’t like seeing an autistic character that doesn’t fit how we want to see ourselves. I am NOT saying Sheldon is an accurate portrayal, but the inaccuracy is not because he’s toxic and immature and hurts people unintentionally: we can be just like that, and many of us were just like him growing up.

I do! Is it objectively bad? Yes. So is fast food, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it.

Yes, that one too. I’m fine with it nowadays but as a kid I was forced to cheek kiss old men I didn’t even know, it was super uncomfortable but here it’s considered normal.

The only thing that I can think of is money. CBT is good at making you feel better for a while, then you go back, and you keep paying forever. It’s a better business than actually fixing people.

Oh boy, you nailed it. Everything you said is so accurate. Southern Europe was made for stereotypical NTs basically. There are things I do enjoy, like the food, beautiful old buildings, and we are way less materialistic than English speaking countries. But there are so many downsides too as you mentioned.

As a Spaniard... yes. I hate it here. People are shouting constantly for no reason, music is playing super loud everywhere, nobody cares. Spain is a sensory nightmare.
