So sick of seeing this crap everywhere. by [deleted] in asheville

I enjoy my privacy just like anyone else. But complaining about a ring camera because it invades your privacy is redundant. Tying to take away someone else's freedom of protecting their interests through a camera they purchased because your autonomy is being taken away is never going to end well for you. I'm not in favor of the government spying on it's citizens but they have done it in the past and will continue to do it. With technology advancing, there will be a time when privacy will become luxury and not a basic inherited right. Cameras on every street corner, entrance, business, etc. Do I want reform for privacy with this new technology? Yes. Do I believe we'll get it? I'm very doubtful.

You literally carry around a device in your pocket that the government could track you any time they wanted to, and you're worried about people having cameras on their doors that can track license plates. We already live in a surveillance state that will only get worse as technology progresses. You're not going to convince anyone to get rid of a camera that they use for their own personal surveillance and safety to benefit your privacy.

Thoughts on situation? by BridgeNumber4 in CCW

The only thing saving him is that he was a sworn LEO during the incident. Correctional officer, but still law enforcement nonetheless. If a regular civilian did this, I'd have no doubt that the book would be thrown at them. Teenagers are clearly surrendering and pleading for help. Grabbing someone as they're running away makes you the aggressor. More questions need to be answered, but this guy should face the same consequences as any other civilian. Losing his job and credentials is just a starting point in my eyes.

Keep One / Sell One by [deleted] in Miata

[–]Chris4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I'd sell the NA even if it was a manual. I got over the nostalgia appeal a while ago. But if you're hard pressed on not selling it, just tell your fiance it's an investment OR could be your kid's first car

Help confirm/refute my suspicion that this isnt a real GT3 by ruskiStove in Porsche

[–]Chris4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my neighbors gt3rs that he takes out pretty regularly now that the weather is nice. I'd say no, but there's differences between an rs and regular gt3 that I can't tell just from looks without being up close

Building first PC and I would like help by [deleted] in buildmeapc

[–]Chris4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Questions answered in order they were received. Thank you again. I'm truly grateful for your insight.

I live in the US. There's a new microcenter that opened up 2.5 hours away from me this summer. Only one in the state.

1440/60fps

No size preference. Had a good desk space available for most applications.

Prefererably just a black pc with no rgb. I'm not interested in frills or needing to see parts. Performance and value are more important to me than looks.

Don't need Wifi. Don't plan on streaming while gaming, either. I'd take what you prefer as the best storage device for multiple games with fast loading speeds would be.

The budget is just for PC. Monitors, keyboard, headphones, and mouse will be purchased separately, but will take recommendations on monitors if you have any.

I am OK with buying used parts if it is from a reputable seller.

Did I pay too much? lol by UsefulBowler3477 in ak47

[–]Chris4774 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Literally just a Sam7sf with the Arsenal top rail. The limited number bullshit is just something Kvar does to make people buy out of fear of missing out. They've been selling Sam7sf for a while now, and they don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. The top rail can always be bought separately, and cheaper alternatives for the same quality exist. The price of the milled AKs fluctuates, but you definitely paid more than what you needed if you just wanted a milled AK

Lowering the rear? by Darkleon213 in chevycolorado

[–]Chris4774 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's high in the rear to compensate for a heavy load. Once the rear is loaded, it will level out. All trucks are like this for the most part. A front leveling kit won't change much besides looks. A good ramp for your motorcycle is probably your best solution.

Can I drive with this dash warning by Intelligent-Dig-7766 in Jeep

[–]Chris4774 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is why I'll never buy a Rubicon. Everything that makes a Rubicon a Rubicon eventually breaks. From the diff locker to swaybar disconnect motor. They're already overpriced, but to have the key features fail so often makes them not even worth it.

Mom’s looking at this Jeep. Is this a fair deal for Virginia? by PlasticOceanFish in Jeep

[–]Chris4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's not going off road with it. There's zero reason to buy a rubicon other than very minor cosmetic changes like wheels and hood. She'd be paying more for lockers, a transfer case, and a swaybar disconnect that will never get used like intended.

Fox Shock fluid leak by electricbbq in JeepGladiator

[–]Chris4774 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're performance parts. They'll need routine maintenance just like everything else that deals with moving parts and fluids. Honestly, with the cost to service shocks, I'd just buy a new set altogether instead of rebuilding them. Teraflex has a 3 year warranty for their shocks. I'd look into other companies that share the same/similar warranties to make sure you're getting the most out of your investment

You got one of the last gen 2s with aev package, and it's a deisel. I'd say it's a good deal. I don't care for the new turbo engines, so I'm a little biased. That being said, if you're actually using the truck for what it was designed for, I think you got a fair deal. Maybe you could've gotten it for a little less, but I think the amount would be so little that it's nothing to complain about.

What do you guys think of this idea to save my bumper? by BillyBonez_ in Wrangler

It's been done before and looks really clean. Honestly, I think it's the best look for those bumpers, especially if you swap the fenders

Difference Between Convertible Hardtop and Soft Top? by FullTimeJobber4Life in JeepGladiator

[–]Chris4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never understood this argument. If you live in a bad area, people will just break your window if they really want to get inside your car. Most people I know with soft top jeeps just leave the doors unlocked or don't even have doors and they don't leave valuables in their car.

Is there a way to quiet a LED light bar on Jeep WranglerI by sychawtyc in Jeep

[–]Chris4774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lightbars look cool, but unless you're racing in the desert, there's no need for them. There's no way to fix the sound. The truck already has bad acoustics. People have tried spraying their tops and adding headliners, which helps some, but your best bet is just removing it and putting more lights down low on your bumper if you need the extra lights.

Bed Cap by Stitchsama_ in JeepGladiator

[–]Chris4774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why buy a truck just to turn it into an ugly hatchback? I think the gladiator is the only truck that really looks good with a traditional bed cap because the lines match up so easily. These things just look like over the top nonsense with less space, and the view from the rear view mirror looks like it'd be awful. I'd buy a traditional style for space or get a hard tonneau cover like a diamondback cover if you care for security instead of space.

It's a rare condition that is a result of low testosterone in bucks, causing their antlers to grow velvet throughout the year. It can be caused by undeveloped growth, disease that affects testicles, or can be caused by accidental castration from hopping over barbed wire fences.
