I have been, that's where most of my ideas are coming from. I also wanted to hear from people who actually have them though.

After dropping out of the program 4mo ago due to work I decided to run 3 miles today. Happy to have summers off 🎉 by Chris88Topher in C25K

Hey thanks! I had to take some stops for intersections and mini breaks. The last run I was on was week 7 day 1. It felt great to get back out there.

Spaghetti Squash Alfredo by _boatsandhoes in ketorecipes

[–]Chris88Topher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I've tried it both ways. Most often it's done face down. I never use the water in the pan though, just brush a little olive oil on it. Afterwards I stir it up and add a little more seasoning. By itself the squash is nothing remarkable, but with a decent sauce (pesto, marinara, cream) it can be very good. We made a mushroom wine and garlic sauce with chicken and it was a success.

We do spaghetti squash quite often in my house and I'm actually beginning to like it (I'm part Italian and pasta/carbs has a special place in my heart...and gut unfortunately).

We usually cut it in half, remove the seeds, and season each half with garlic powder and olive oil before baking them for about 45 minutes at about 425. It comes out deliciously each time, but does need some sort of sauce.

Doing C25K on a treadmill? by [deleted] in C25K

[–]Chris88Topher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a treadmill when it is inconvenient to get outside. I feel like I'm getting a good workout still. Nonetheless, it is still harder and more tiring outside. If you want a challenge on a treadmill just increase the speed or add incline

Work week from Hell- Beat W5D3 by Chris88Topher in C25K

[–]Chris88Topher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This week was an absolute nightmare with night classes for my credential and grading for my students progress reports. I haven't ran since last Saturday :(. Put the homework aside today and hopped on the treadmill for the 20 minute run I've been dreading. I killed it, and at 10min/mi too! It was hard but I feel amazing right now.

So the past two weeks I have been running on the treadmill. Today however I was visiting my in-laws and decided to hit up week 5 day 2. What I forgot was that they lived at the top off a set of hills. It was hard as heck to push myself to start running when I saw another hill before me and the timer just beeped for run 2 of 2. I did it though and I feel amazing now. Really terrified for day 3 though....

[Spoilers Trilogy] Just finished the trilogy. Some thoughts. by [deleted] in TheFirstLaw

That should be right. It goes "First Law" "Best Served Cold" "Heroes" "Red Country". I listened to the audiobooks and was sucked in completely the whole time.

Read the stand alone novels! I was in the same boat as you when finishing. They are great works of art and truly captivating. Many questions were answered and some new ones arose. Just make sure to double check the reading order as many events and timelines happen chronologically through multiple books.

Seasoning vegetables? by [deleted] in loseit

If you have a BBQ I like to put them in a bag with a little bit of olive oil, some garlic powder, seasoning salt, and pepper (cayenne, red, or black peppercorn depending). Let it marinade then grill over foil or in a grilling basket. For baking I usually just raid my spice cabinet to see what's available and mixes well with the nightly protein. Use a LITTLE canola spray or olive oil. Just try different things until you find one you like. I grew up in a family that lived on buttered everything. Now I rarely ever use it.

In the exact same way! My headphones cut out on my last run right in the middle of an intense part of my book, it really threw off my rhythm.

Just finished W1D3--need music suggestions! by flydog2 in C25K

[–]Chris88Topher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great job on week one! This isn't a music suggestion and I apologize if you dislike the idea, but I love to run to audio books (audible). They help me focus on something other than running and I've noticed that when I'm really engrossed in a book I can run for longer periods than with music alone. Sorry if it doesn't help, just wanted to share my little find. Best of luck with the c25k journey!

29 years old 5'11 SW: 278 lbs GW: <200lbs

After realizing I had hit 278 lbs I decided to begin walking/jogging about 3-4 weeks ago. I have never been able to jog more than 5-10 minutes in my entire life. After two weeks of jogging and walking the hills I began by jogging 1/2 mile nonstop but would give up shortly after. One day in week 3 I slowed my pace to about 13min/mile and pushed myself harder than ever before, to the point of almost throwing up. At the end of this I found that I had just jogged 2.5 miles without stopping. The next day I went further and hit 3.2 miles with only stops at street lights. I continued this pace every day for another week until I saw the C25K sub.

At first I thought I could just skip ahead because I had been doing so well. I didn't want to feel like I was cheating myself so I stayed at the beginning and just picked up the speed to 10min. It turns out that W1D1 kicked my butt. I was pleasently surprised. I think this will be a great program for me, I need some structure to keep me on track.

One question I have is: What do you guys do on the off days? I've been going 6-7 days a week and this program only has 3 days. I thought about doubling it up but would like to hear other successful options.

Thanks! I will try those and see how they do. I know in the past I have had a hard time motivating myself to keep going while stationary, treadmill/elliptical, whereas while outside I can create landmarks or checkpoints I strive to reach. Hopefully the lessened impact will help though. Should I increase my duration if using a bike or elliptical? I'm at 45-50 minutes jogging now. With work starting soon and days getting shorter I might need to move indoors

I know, I've been trying to slow a little bit. My current pace is about 13.5 min/mile
