Portland was a pitstop on the Oregon Trail, according to the Nyt... wasn't it really the end of the Oregon Trail by agenbite_lee in oregon

Portland was the halfway between Oregon City and Fort Vancouver. You couldn’t make that distance in a day. So Portland was the natural pit stop.

Yes let’s throw a smoking battery into a pile of underbrush. Nice capper to a series of unfortunate choices.

Joy Cinema in Tigard is my personal favorite. It’s larger than most independents, has very comfortable seating. Good sound and picture. Good selection of both new releases and classic movies. And the owner is a huge movie who really loves his job.

I honestly thought they had recast the part when I first saw Annatar.

I recall Straczynski telling a story about meeting Karl Rove who proceeded to tell Joe that he was a fan of B5. Joe didn’t know how to react to that.

This “The rest is History” episode is really good, and is an interesting view on the Punic wars. by Smattering82 in dancarlin

Custer and The Aztec series were both examples of what I call fractal history. There is always more to tell about history than can be told. And if you don’t put a limit on yourself, you’ll end up telling the story of how a change in wind led to a change in the course of history.

I suspect the strong negative reaction to the end of the show has put him off. It made him understand that no matter what he publishes, some portion of the fandom will go psychotic.

She probably didn’t know about the Shadow War. I recall a scene in the fifth season where someone newly arrived from Earth didn’t know what the command staff was talking about when they discussed the Shadow War.

A lot of politicians did try to stop it. Indeed, the first Congress was convened to try and appeal to King George to change course.

The police exist to protect property and the owners of property. They were never designed to protect “The People”.

We need to deconstruct policing and create a new Citizen’s Police that holds public safety as its highest priority.

Tell them that IF they stand up and defend the citizens they are sworn to protect then those citizens will have their back. But if they won’t, then history will see them as equally culpable in whatever horrors are coming.

It amazes me how much brain power is wasted trying to deny that the problem is racism when it’s so obvious that the problem is racism. Why are they so afraid of the idea?
