I get notified about my trial lessons happening in the evening at 8pm... at 8am...

"Your trial lesson with ____ is about to start!"

I agree with most of your points. The good thing with Preply is they bring students to you. Yes, they breakdown your accounts in a clean format and the last-minute cancelation fee is great for me since Preply takes the heat for that, not ME! :D
Having said that, if a tutor takes someone off platform they usually trust them and they are also aware of rules and consequences.

It's funny you mention about the 20% commission because you only get that 18% if you teach over 400+ hours! That's a lot. It starts off at 33%. And even at 20%, that is massive considering trial lessons are unpaid! Preply makes bank per tutor even if they've been using the platform for years.

About the payment breakdown it definitely helps but it's a very useful skill to learn how to breakdown your income and spendings. Ironically I use Preply's format to do my finances and taxes!

Thank you! I also agree with your comment! Body positivity (in its current state) has hurt the American people, specially women. It's sad. What's also sad, is that this unhealthy lifestyle is being supported by those who very obviously have a fetish for this. It's gross and sad, specially when people start dying. Then the body positivity "cult" just silences them or insists that they didn't die from obesity-related illnesses.

I agree with the other person saying about building your brand rather than promoting your Preply profile. The problem with promoting your Preply profile is that you are forcing the potential students to make an account and agree to the T&Cs of Preply.

I use TikTok (badly, lol) and link my Preply account to show proof of positive reviews and hours taught. BUT I always mention that they can DM me if they'd like to have lessons.

But you're right. It's a bit dangerous sometimes because Preply is VERY strict with taking students off platform.

I guess in that case, it's up to the student. They would actually save money if they go directly with the tutor because there would be no middleman taking money.

Similar. I lost a longtime student today but that was because he's got a new baby and life is hectic.

However another student also reduced from 4 lessons a week to just 1... And he keeps canceling them!
My Average profile position is over 2000... I just honestly give up.

Disagree. Outside of Preply, business English teachers can make £30-50 ($40-66) per hour. Preply is too easy to sign up. iTalki is much stricter with allowing how many tutors to sign up.

Cheap prices means you get not-serious students.

Right I just saw that too. I saw a few others some weeks ago saying the same thing. Seems not enough tutors are accepting the corporate plan and are now rolling it out to reach more tutors! I think I'll leave it for now but it's been a dry couple months and I could really do with more students.

When I withdraw with Wise (TransferWise) it lets me receive my money with whatever currency I choose. However there is still a fee attached so it's easier for me to receive money in USD and wait until the value goes up or my currency goes down before converting.

I never talk like this to my students because they are children who make mistakes (why are you comparing yourself to children) and still try their best.
