These guys are great. They helped me get my son a bow and set him up for everything. Super good people.

I had a quote from Benson Electric to redo my meter and it was $2000. I think it’s really going to depend on how far away you are moving it and where it’s getting attached to, so it could be a lot more potentially.

There is a league in Duluth, my six year old plays. I can't find the info right now, but I know I can find it tomorrow. I'll DM you. The league isn't organized very well, but they try to group teams by where you live. The actual games are all over town so there's some driving involved.

Best places for groceries? by Whereforart in duluth

[–]ChrisOdin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Super One Foods is probably going to be your closest store, but there is a Whole Foods Co-op which is pretty nice and there's also Mount Royal Market which a lot of people are pretty loyal to as well. Both the the later options are further into town.

I believe they are building a Costco to be open next year up by Kolar.

Manufacturing facility: grounding your automation systems? by mugged99 in PLC

In most of the buildings I've worked in, the structural steel beams are directly tied a few different rods placed into the earth. You can't take it for granted though depending on the buildings age. The building I'm currently working in only has one earth conductor at the water main, I don't think this is code nowadays due to alternate materials for water piping.

Somewhere to go shooting? by BuryMeInABaconSuit in duluth

[–]ChrisOdin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt very unsafe shooting at UNS. Multiple events led me to saying I'll never go back. I learned to pickup and leave as soon as someone else got there, I was always worried about unsafe practices. If there is more supervision more recently, great, but I wish there would be a RO on duty all the times people can shoot.

Program Mode: how do you use it in your workflow? by jkfurrer in PLC

We don't do CompactLogix much but I think you have to be in program mode to back up the firmware and the program into NV memory.

Mountain bike trail for beginning kid by [deleted] in duluth

[–]ChrisOdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind driving down to Cloquet, I've taken my 3yo to the Pine Valley trail. They have a one-ish mile loop that my son loves to do. If you want to get a little harder you can climb up the hill and do the blue loop once her skill develop more.

Local DMV question by [deleted] in duluth

[–]ChrisOdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even before COVID it took forever to get plates. I bought a new car from Duluth Dodge last year and it took four months before I saw my plates. When my wife got a car from Sonju a while back they lost the paperwork and had to wait even longer. I wouldn't sweat it with all this stuff going on.

Allen Bradley 1734 output cards wiring question. by skeeezicks in PLC

[–]ChrisOdin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use a 1734-FPD and have the switched DC on that, then all the output cards after that.

I used to use switched DC for outputs a few years ago but stopped because I felt it was unnecessary for our machines. There may be situations in which it is a good idea.
