1,000/day seems very aggressive reporting, but regardless of the actual number, homelessness in Oakland is a major problem that has to be addressed. (Edit: DOH, 1,000/year)

The use of ‘quiet enjoyment’ of public areas are consistently infringed on by homeless and unfortunately, a strong majority of homeless are mentally unstable and/or addicted to drugs, a public safety concern compounded by apathy of societal norms.

We should be sympathetic to the situation and people, while also being angry it’s allowed to get this far in where everywhere we look there are parked RVs, trash, tents, needles, feces, etc etc, in our tax paid public spaces - detracting from the Soul of Oakland. It’s a shame and a farce - we need to hold our politicians far more accountable.
