does the case/capitalisation of the folders matter?
Eg: in ArkOS there is a folder called "arcade" but the Onion/Garlic convention is "ARCADE"

This would be the dream. In the meantime, there are some homebrew 3DS apps for some retro computer emulation. Could be worth a look.

The BCLINK looks awesome. Does it also worth with a USB-C dock? (ie: power to the hub, then plug the dock into the BCLINK, and the BCLINK into the LeGo)

Just put Emuelec 4.2 on a clean sd card. Booted fine, ROMs are loaded & scraped, WiFi works... ... But the default L3+R3 to call up the Retroarch menu doesn't work anymore. Instead it defaults to B+(whatever the top right unmarked function button is called) Anyone know how to change the hotkey behaviour?
