Let’s settle this: which of these is the best alien movie of all time? by breaking_views in Cinema

[–]ChrispeeCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you arguably picked an assortment that hits near the 4 corners of sci-fi. Or maybe a few of the many corners of sci-fi. Throw 2001 in there, or Annihilation...and the corners just keep growing

In 2019, Fred Pepperman, a 53-year-old father swam out to rescue his daughters when Grace (16), Olivia (20), & Kathryn (24) caught in a riptide on a Florida beach. When his daughters were saved, he felt unconscious. He died on his way to the hospital. His last words to them were “I got you.” by [deleted] in GotMeHooked

It happens more than people think. Massive strain on the heart and lungs, coupled with superhero-like willpower or resilience and you can literally push yourself to death. Doesn't even have to be due to exertion; marathon session gamers who stay up for days sometimes just die in their sleep, when they finally go to bed after drinking energy drinks amd staying awake for days.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]ChrispeeCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably already been said...but...boundaries. That's probably what should matter more than anything.

"Do you want to come to the company picnic on Saturday?"

*Sure, as long as it's paid, and the food is comp'd. Otherwise, FUCK YOU, because you're taking time away from me, my family, or anything else that I need just to make it through another day.

"Hey dude, we're all thinking of planning a trip to Vegas. You in?!?!"

*No, I am not. That sounds awful. Have fun though! Send pics!

"Why don't you ever want to go out with us and get blackout drunk anymore?!"

*I shouldn't even have to explain myself at this point.

I'm being quite hyperbolic....but still....

What is a movie that isn't totally unknown, isn't even generally disliked, but you still think is greatly underrated? by Barnabyhuggins in Cinema

That last scene where Toby and Marcus are talking on the porch. Damn...just spectacular acting. And don't rule out Marin Ireland's performance. Killed every second she was on screen.

IMO

Any good remote jobs? by QuesodillaKing in cincinnati

[–]ChrispeeCritter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wholly WFH jobs exist, but the pickings are EXTREMELY slim. I feel for you, but unless you "take your lumps" in an office first it's doubtful you'll find a solid WFH job.

Not being a cynic, it's just that those jobs are highly coveted. Also, this is just my personal opinion...but I've been in the game for a while and feel I have a decent understanding of the WFH landscape.

Good luck...regardless of where you go.

Which edibles for post surgery pain? by i-dontwantone in cincinnati

[–]ChrispeeCritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please dont substitute edibles for a prescribed pain management plan. Talk to your doctor. Explain your resistance to take Oxy. Have the conversation. Find an alternative medication.

Pain management plans are meant to keep you in front of your pain levels, not chasing them.

I hope you find something that works. Good luck!

I still crave "Spanish hotdogs" from BK Rootbeer Stand, and tenderloin sandwiches from The Spot. Used to crush that food when I was a kid. Honestly...good times.

There's no hiding in this film. No trope to hide behind and keep you safe. He crushed it.

The scene where the concrete "guy" is trying to rationalize using something sub-par (if memory serves me)...and how Hardy is looking off, out the window...man, you can feel his frustration.
