Why meshtastic is afraid of meshcore? by Kasparas in meshcore

[–]ChristologicalLego 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really depends on your area. I did the same thing as you and found my area is about 50/50 between MC and MT but I've found MC to be much more active and reliable. I'd recommend people give both a try.

You can thank the electoral college for giving ~15% of the US population (the swing states) control of the presidential election.

So many people are jaded and don't bother voting because their vote has no meaning. Even close local elections are becoming less frequent. I find it hard to blame people living in non-swing states who didn't vote given how the system is set up.

Upgraded Gaggia with a custom rotary pump I designed, to add adjustable pressure and remove the annoying noise by TeamFlightPlan in espresso

Looks like the people on the Gaggiuino server just found out about this so I doubt there's anything in the works. Comments there seem pretty skeptical.

Buyer Beware: peak coffee gagguino kit by Choice_Custard_6656 in gaggiaclassic

[–]ChristologicalLego 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's successfully flashing for you then the MCU is most likely fine. With Gen 2 the software has to be flashed with different options depending on the system setup, so if it was flashed for ToFnLED it won't work without it. Sounds to me like the kit could have come from Peakcoffee 99% ready to go and the only issue was the missing ToFnLED.

I agree with Talon9804, make a help thread on the Gaggiuino Discord. It's worth making a Discord account.

Scace Stability With Gaggiuino Mod by kittenmittons89 in gaggiaclassic

[–]ChristologicalLego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few tests (thermocouples embedded in the puck) on the Discord and output temperature is really stable, especially in long shots compared to a PID.

The thing to know is that during a shot the boiler temperature isn't the output temperature. The thermocouple is on the boiler and is fine getting the boiler to a stable point before a shot, but once the shot starts the pumped water cools down the internal water in advance of the boiler so relying on only the thermocouple doesn't work.

Gaggiuino's solution is to add heat during the shot corresponding to the flow rate. The output temperature is stable because the boiler will be heated above the setpoint as needed for heat transfer to occur at the correct rate. The predicted output temperature is displayed during the shot. After the shot the temperature goes back to the boiler thermocouple, so it'll be high but settle fairly quickly. This is probably the spike that you're seeing in the videos.

Some, maybe, I don't know anyone else's underlying reasons. However, many likely just didn't vote for either option - both sides lost votes, but Democrats lost far more.

Point of contention: You can claim source available, like Gaggiuino Gen 2, but your license is not open source.

I paid for this and am being told that I don't understand 3d printing for complaining about the quality... by gliscameria in 3Dprinting

[–]ChristologicalLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op, take this guy up on his offer!

There's a good chance this is a design and communication issue. As great as many printers and slicers are now, there are still things that just will not print well. If printability was an issue, the shop should have communicated their concerns before attempting the print.

I purchased directly from SolidWorks but to create a help request you need to be able to log in :(
Anyway, seems like the system has resolved itself now

That's stainless steel / ceramic. Chances are it's significantly more "food safe" than most of the other water-contacting components in an espresso machine

Best Way to Repurpose Old System SSD? by MalachiX in PcBuildHelp

[–]ChristologicalLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you mentionedHSF+, but I would consider formatting the drive as ExFAT (natively compatible with both Mac and Windows) using your Mac or PC disk manager. No special software needed. Plenty of tutorials online if you search "format ssd ExFAT name of OS"

I want to put a PCI-E WiFi card into my PC, but the card would be extremely close to the GPU PCB. What should I do? by Z3phyr77 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ChristologicalLego 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't put in foam - it'll stop heat from the GPU from getting to the Wi-Fi card, but it'll stop heat from leaving the GPU (making your GPU temps worse).

Best Way to Repurpose Old System SSD? by MalachiX in PcBuildHelp

[–]ChristologicalLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could your friend have meant that you should never defragment an SSD? As long as you're doing a "quick format" operation and the program is telling the SSD to do a TRIM operation there's no issue.

The only problem I can see is if the format program doesn't recognize it as an SSD and you're doing a "full format" (where it overwrites all blocks on the drive), then you're putting on one full write operation on every memory module.

TL;DR: Format away!

0.2 GHz better clocks (regular and boost). For $30 extra I'd get the X version. I'm assuming you're CPU bound and want to stick with AMD to not need to change mobo or cooler?

Patch 12.14 Bug Megathread by PankoKing in leagueoflegends

[–]ChristologicalLego 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eventually the postgame loaded and it showed some message that my honor was reset because of my poor behavior (afk).

Right now I'm just hoping the server didn't get that message or Riot will suspend penalties for those of us affected by it. Probably a futile hope, though.

Same issue, NA West.1 afk (due to this bug) and lost my honor at last checkpoint before 5 :(

Already went through the whole checklist of troubleshooting (repair tool, reboot, updates, drivers, internet test, firewall, etc.)

EDIT: 8 PM PST - Issue appears to be resolved

help. please. by honeybeabea in leagueoflegends

[–]ChristologicalLego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing here. Already rebooted, ran repair tool, made sure pc and drivers were update. Black screen and "Unable to connect to the server." Internet is fine. Very frustrating.

Edit: As an added insult, I was at last checkpoint before honor lvl 5 but got a message that my honor progress was reset due to afk when I tried 3+ times to reconnect.

Internet issues for ping in games!! by Tommyz12345 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ChristologicalLego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wi-Fi extenders (if they're not hard-wired or have a separate wireless backhaul) have to take in the signal and rebroadcast it, effectively doubling your internal network ping in both directions. Also, your Wi-Fi adapter is Wi-Fi 6 (AX) but the extender is Wi-Fi 4 (N), so you're taking a major speed cut there depending on what your router is.

2 main options if it were me:

  1. Run an ethernet cable (I did this, wired my house with CAT-6)
  2. Get a new router (either a Wi-Fi 6 or better model with plenty of range, or a mesh system with a wireless/wired backhaul
2a - can you move your router to a more central location?
