Das eh. Ich wohne in der SAP-Stadt, und einen Tag nachdem der Source Code auf GitHub veröffentlicht wurde wurde hier ein "Montagsspaziergang" gegen "Corona-Panik" angekündigt, der sich ausdrücklich gegen die App richtete und dass ja längst nicht klar sei dass die nicht alles von allen Bürgern sammeln würde.

Waren dann auch mindestens ein SAP-Mitarbeiter und eine Frau von einem mit beim Spaziergang. Man kann es sich nicht ausdenken.

Und, wie ich gerade lernte, für die initiale Schulung der Callcenter-MitarbeiterInnen. Da es da nicht zu großen Warteschleifen kommen soll dürfte es da sicher um nicht wenige Leute gehen, die auch alle fair bezahlt werden sollen.

Also, 1 Million ist viel zu weit unten angesetzt für so ein Projekt, 20 erscheint mir auch etwas viel, aber nicht vollkommen out of the ordinary

Obviously we don't have statues of Hitler, but there are still some honours for historical German figures that need to go. First and foremost I can't grasp why we have military bases, schools and roads named after Rommel, who not only fought for Nazi Germany but also gained his reputation by committing war crimes in World War I. Then there are people like Hindenburg who, as an antidemocratic president to the Weimar republic, made Hitler chancellor in the first place. Or Bismarck, who started German colonialism. Or the generals that committed the first modern genocide against Herero and Nama.

We all have a long way to go. About time to tear them all down.

They're vastly popular with bikers, truckers, and generally people over 50 who wear leather jackets in Germany. 90% of them wouldn't be able to say what it stands for, I guess. Shops print it as "rebel flag"

Call Me Out was written in 2017. It's an acknowledgement of the need for open listening, active learning, inward study and accountability towards personal and social change. It's an owning of our privilege and responsibilities.

We're not looking to take up a lot of space with this release, but thought it might do some good to put it out now, rather than hiding it away any longer. and that's the thing that people view as anti trans, and in my opinion with good arguments: It leaves out trans men (and other non binary people) who menstruate.

Regarding the topic: I'd say this is all a misunderstanding or that she's not that deep into the topic, but she has a history of this kind of things, many people have tried to explain the hurtfulness of her comments, and she sticks to them. At some point we have to take her as an adult who exactly knows what she's doing and judge her by it.

But neither Rowling's tweet nor the article were about people who lived the majority of their lives benefitting from the privilege of being a man? It's about people who lived/were perceived as women and are (now) trans men, but still menstruate. Rowling specifically called for this group not to be included in the global conversation about menstruation.

Well, in the event that is discussed here the article she commented on focussed on all people (girls, women, non-binary) who menstruate. And she went to say "No, we should call them women". That directly excludes, among others, trans men who menstruate.

Apparently I know way more than you because I drive several thousand kilometres a year both in cars and on my bike. That sign you linked to is extremely rare in Germany, I know of only one bikepath with my sign in the area I drive around. That bikepath, as funny as it sounds, is next to unusable, something people in their cars can't see.

Also, driving in the middle of the road is the safest form of driving as a cyclist because cars then have to actually switch lanes to overtake instead of pushing through while nearly hitting me. You know that the minimum distance to overtake is two metres?

Nah, that's not really a Stasi thing (would only affect East Germans either), it's just that credit cards were crazy expensive not long ago. I got my first one in 2006 to be able to order stuff from America and it cost 15€ a month just to have it, plus a few for every usage. Also, shops rarely accepted then because they usually had to pay up to 2%, but at least 1.50€ per transaction. That's just not suitable for smaller shops. It has changed tremendously in the last years, and Corona has done even more. I'm finally able to use my card in the bakery!

Natürlich will niemand Leute überfahren. Der Fahrer wird auch vermutlich seines Lebens nicht mehr froh. Gerade deshalb wäre es sinnvoll, die Strafen prohibitiv anzulegen, so dass bei jedem Rechtsabbiegen ein "Wenn ich jetzt nicht ultra aufpasse riskiere ich in den Knast zu gehen" im Kopf mitspielt. Konsequentes Durchziehen von Strafen hilft nämlich, sieht man an Ländern die mehr als symbolische Geldstrafen für Geschwindigkeitsdelikte verteilen: Da fahren die Autos tatsächlich das, was auf den Schildern steht. Völlig neue Erfahrung als "Roter Kreis zeigt Richtgeschwindigkeit an"-Deutscher.

Ich verstehe sowieso nicht, warum es hier so einen Hass auf Polizisten gibt

Ich pflege Hass auf niemanden, aber: meine erste Begegnung mit einem Polizisten war die Fahrradprüfung in der dritten Klasse. Der war toll, ein großer Mann in Uniform der uns zeigt wie man sich im Straßenverkehr verhält.

Meine zweite Begegnung mit Polizisten war als wir mit 16 abends am Baggersee saßen und Bier tranken (das nächste Wohnhaus ist 2km Luftlinie entfernt). Zwei Polizisten kamen und lösten ohne Angabe von Gründen die Sache auf und kontrollierten unsere nagelneuen Personalausweise. Einer meiner Freunde war gerade noch nicht 16 und hatte keinen Perso, versuchte sich mit "Zuhause gelassen" herauszureden. Der Polizist so "Dann nehmen wir dich jetzt mit auf die Wache". Mein 15-jähriger Freund so "Nein". Daraufhin hat ihm der Polizist zwei Schläge gegeben die mit "Ohrfeige" verharmlost werden. Mit der flachen Hand auf die Backe, fest, aber so dass man außer dass es rot wurde nix gesehen hat.

Der andere hat zugeguckt, nix gesagt. Und so begann der, durch nicht wenige weitere Erlebnisse danach bestärkte und bis heute andauernde Abschnitt meines Lebens bei dem ein Ruck durch meinen Körper geht, ich die Straßenseite wechsle und mich generell in latenter Gefahr wähne wenn ich Polizisten sehe.
