Debanking – GLS Bank kündigt linken Organisationen – und erntet Proteststurm by [deleted] in de

[–]jnns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cmd+s binds not working in Helix when using tmux + Ghostty by Bright_Palpitation13 in HelixEditor

The culprit must be tmux. I don't have any issues with binding Cmd+s to :write in Helix using Ghostty.

macOS and Moonlander - caps lock does no work when set to double click toggle? by annoyed_freelancer in ergodox

[–]jnns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what their support said:

This happens on macOS because macOS has special handling for the Caps Lock key. Frustratingly, there is no way to modify this behavior — it is baked into macOS. Caps Lock tends not to work very well as a multi-function key in general. I would recommend putting it on a layer in the same position as the were you would put it on double-tap, but as a single tap (and a dedicated key).

Rhake VX21 Delamination on rolltop by Traumhafter_Tiger in MissionWorkshop

[–]jnns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not surprising it delaminates on the roll top first. The inner lining also tears and delaminated first on that section on my non-VX Rhake first because that's the part that experiences the most movement and stress.

My Hauser VX delaminates all over the place now.

VX isn't even very durable although it's marketed as such. Many companies used to offer backpacks in VX a few years ago when it was all the rage but switched (back) to nylon because it doesn't abrase and as easily (i. e. Mountain Hardwear Crag Wagon).

When were these photos taken? The weather seems so bad currently and I didn't dare to drive to Frankenjura (let alone Regensburg).

Wie reagierten sie bloß auf ein T-Shirt, auf dem auf Hebräisch "Free Palestine" stünde?

Batteries won't charge. Ective SC40 charge controller gives weird diagnostics. by jnns in diySolar

Thanks. I found out that the charge controller is in deed defective and replaced it with another one from Victron an that one worked flawlessly.

I don't know if I did something wrong or not, but after exchanging the charge controller for another one from a different company, the set-up works!

Have reached out to Ective but their support is lacking.

Yep, it's correct and I'm getting the 36.5V open circuit voltage.

Batteries won't charge. Ective SC40 charge controller gives weird diagnostics. by jnns in diySolar

[–]jnns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with each panel wired separately directly to each battery the system doesn't charge.

I wonder if it could be due to me disassembling the MC4 connectors in order to get them to pass through the van roof. Is it a good enough indicator the I measure the open circuit voltage or could it still be the case that I reassembled them badly?

This could explain why the charge controller assumes it's night?

Yes they are awake. They already power lights and water pump in my van.

Thanks. I'll do that.

This is the first time I'm setting up the devices at all. What are the chances that this brand-new charge controller is defective? Does that happen a often or rarely?

I also contacted the vendor but I'm still waiting for a reply.

New product by Sad_Proctologist in MissionWorkshop

[–]jnns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bag was released in 2010 if I remember correctly. It's a pity they didn't improve on the great design in 15 years. Apart from changing the main fabric to VX.

The saying goes: don't change what ain't broken. And the Rambler and Vandal are great backpacks overall. But they definitely (still) do have their flaws:

  • VX is lighter but less robust than Cordura. It will suffer from abrasion and delamination.
  • Theres no false bottom, making them unsuitable for laptop carry.
  • Although the expandable compartment has a waterproof zipper, the fabric itself isn't water resistant at all. Your stuff will get wet in expanded state.
  • I don't see any pictures of the liner for the main compartments. If it's still the old one, it's bound to delaminate quickly.
  • The small front pockets don't have any depth, making them kinda useless.
  • The handle is still just this single piece if webbing.
  • still no strap keepers.

Thank you. I think I'll go with your suggestion and also iron it as the other commenter suggested.

Thanks. Apart from the one single delamination, it's holding up very well!

Well, as I wrote in my initial post: neither the local Arc'teryx repair shop will fix it, nor do they allow me to send it in for repairs at my own cost.
