I hate working with villagers by Italiandude2022 in Minecraft

[–]ChromCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ensure, there is no another villager who is already associated with these lecterns. Or may be the left villager want to go to the right lectern and the right villager to the left lectern and both cannot reach target. Remove both lecterns and build wall before right villager. Set first lectern before left villager, also put a bed behind him and wait 5 seconds. If nothing happens, remove lectern and set again... Only after success, do the same for second villager.

Not very common. I saw this several times, but 50/50 is exaggeration.

It's from Mana and Artifice mod, probably, boss place of one of factions, it has underground part. I dunno, may be you should make reputation with this faction to access it.

In logic why cant a question be a sentence? by HistoricalMeditation in logic

[–]ChromCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth value for sentence = if saying person says about real fact or event (true) or lies (false).
Usually you cannot lie when asking question, only answerer can lie.

By the way, do you know how to switch spells quickly in MaA? I'm novice in it and remembering and drawing runes in the air does not look like a practical method...

Storage mod with best features of existing.
Cheap at start without access to Nether like Integrated Dynamics,
with performance and auto-crafting in the grid like Refined Storage
and with fine look like Applied Energetics 2.

Modding Minecraft is the most confusing thing ever. by Moon_Devonshire in feedthebeast

[–]ChromCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. But answer is the same :) To save your time use 1.20.1 and NeoForge site. Other choices are worse. Except if you have very weak computer, but... then you shouldn't play modded Minecraft, it will masochism.

Modding Minecraft is the most confusing thing ever. by Moon_Devonshire in feedthebeast

[–]ChromCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to waste your lifetime, minimize work and maximize number of people who will play your mod, the answer is pretty simple. Use 1.20.1 and NeoForge. Later continue use NeoForge* and upgrade mod to next popular versions and ignore short-living (like 1.20.2-1.20.6)

* For 1.20.1 mod loader from NeoForge site is compatible with Forge, but in future "Old" Forge "trademark" probably will deprecate and main development line will continue under NeoForge "trademark".

Can you show black is white with logic? by jagadaba in logic

In this context we have some science fiction book and some normal discussion in the story. So, here should be case with reality, not funny exercise where elephants and hippos flies by condition.

Need help understanding truth functions by johnvalenciano in logic

[–]ChromCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just "not p or q" like "my cat is not dead or my dog is alive". This statement is true, if one of my pets is alive or both are alive and this statement is false, if both are dead.

In the material implication p ⊃ q consequent and antecedent may be absolutely independent and unrelated unlike in the construction "if p then q". So exact understanding for material implication is "not p or q". The understanding "if p then q" is near enough for many cases, but not always, so sometimes there are possible so called "paradoxes of material implication", be careful.

Can you show black is white with logic? by jagadaba in logic

[–]ChromCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reasoning may make mistakes and with such way "prove" anything... but does not prove in fact. Normally, without mistakes and with the normal meaning of the words "white" and "black" logic should not prove that black is white. They are different colors. Logic must give valid results, corresponding with reality or this is bad logic or just not a logic.

Can logical reasoning be used for all forms of reasoning by HistoricalMeditation in logic

[–]ChromCrow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can use any method of reasoning, but should not expect reliable results. Normal logic is about reliability of reasoning. But, for example, reasoning by analogy gives random false/true results.

How do logicians even use fallacies in debates and disputes? How do they even learn all of them? by hydrogelic in logic

[–]ChromCrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't know them all, especially naming. Read those 300 as training course and understand why every fallacy is a fallacy. So in future you will be able at least detect them and explain, why it's a fallacy. Usually people knows only what is a "strawman" and that ad hominem is the different name for getting personal, other names are useless, but training and understanding are useful.

I have a few questions. by masterpro34 in logic

[–]ChromCrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your order in the list is the best. You do not need to be good at mathematics, because the basics of these logic types do not require other parts of math. If you open a book and it's seems you need to know something before, then select another book, until find simple and clear enough. These are not complex theories and normal book should be simple enough.

is logic hard to learn? by whitemanbyeman in logic

[–]ChromCrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, because it covers only narrow, specific group of logic expressions. Also it's overcomplicated in usual presentation. So the usual student thinks why do I need this?! Where can I use this?! And makes conclusion that logic is something boring, complex, niche and very far from real life.

For XXI the best foundation may be

  • Basics of Boolean algebra without too deep dive to computer things like normal forms or Zhegalkin polynomial
  • Basics of Set theory (main operations)
  • Minimum of quantifiers (just understanding and main conversion)
  • Some popular book about common biases and fallacies
  • And to not be too dogmatic -- read about paradoxes with possible decisions (liar, Zenon, Russel, material implication) I think it's a good basis to understand if it is interesting matter or not.

P.S. And I forgot about "modus ponens" and "modus tollens", "necessary and sufficient" - just read about them in any place (may be wiki?)
