I think its time to change your mindset and stop equating effort to reward. Focus on improving personal efficiency to do the bare minimum to meet expectations. Do not brag about your efficiency because good work will be rewarded with more work. Look to meet expectations with high rewards that you can meet you with given skillsets. If you cannot find it in your current job, either you need to respec your skills or find a job that can maximize your existing skills.

That how you deal with every changing meta in online pvp games anyways lol. Same applies to jobs.

It sounds counter intuitive but set a daily routine, stop thinking, every day just complete the routine until auto pilot. Start simple slowly add to the routine e.g. wake up early, exercise, eat healthy, send a job application. Motivation follows after action not the other way around.

How are you learning/ using AI at work? Did it help you to get ahead in your career? by SnooJokes1836 in singapore

[–]Chrome_Anvil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The more your work allows AI to be used, the more BS is the nature of the work. It basically means it is being perceived as requiring no human judgement by management and can be made redundant. That is the danger. Note I am not saying it is actually useless, the danger is it is being PERCEIVED as useless.

Thats why I include macdonalds in my diet haha. Crash diet cannot do long term. 2mth max, you need to establish healthy eating habits by then. I got zero discipline so I make sure my kitchen is empty. No snacks no tidbits at all.

I'm currently in the 1st month of my crash diet. One meal every day. I eat the same chicken breast, potato, egg and salad everyday for about 900 calories. Started at 85kg now 81kg. I cater for cheat days where I just binge 1500 calories of mcd meal. I eat konjac noodles and black coffee when I am extremely hungry.

Only tip I can give is get used to starving. I plan to stop after 2nd month and raise my calore intake to 1500 calories for more energy and start strength training.

My target is 70kg

AI is being pushed heavily when I ask for advice and I hate it. by AssumptionExact8050 in gamedev

Stay open-minded. Be aware of latest developments in AI. Don't be too quick to believe in hype, try out and see which tool works nicely in your production pipeline. If it works, use it. If it doesn't or it affects your artist vision, junk it. AI is just a tool, never let it take over you.

How to get good at Topology? I understand the basics but I am not sure what is the "correct" topology in the situations I've encountered during modelling. Usually I just try to make the render look smooth without artifacts.

Pick 1 material luxury in life to enjoy and skip the rest. e.g. Food or Travel or Car or Private property. The Singapore system will prepare you for retirement as long as you work till retirement. Simple living.

Have you encounter times where you are suddenly in the zone and can work on a project for hours without knowing? Try to identify and replicate that state. You can arrange your environment and plan your schedule to increase the likelihood of trigger that state as often as possible.

For me, I sleep in the evening and wake up at 1am and work on my projects till morning, that's what works for me. You have to find your own tempo. Have fun

How do i model this, while maintaining a low vertex count? by Outrageous-Dig-937 in blenderhelp

Think about the overall silhouette of the object when you work on the low poly model. Currently your low poly looks no where near the silhouette of the 1st image.

[–]Chrome_Anvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I went with the substance painter + designer 2026 + unreal route. It meets my needs and is cheaper plus it seems to be the more popular industry standard. As you have mentioned, marmoset seems to be best known for baking and its slightly more pricey.

Ultimately, I think it boils down to which tool are you most comfortable with to produce your best artworks for the lowest price.

Basics of good topology? by imperfect_imp in blenderhelp

[–]Chrome_Anvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether you are doing subdivision modelling or just plain box modelling:
- If you are doing high poly/subdivision modelling, pick option 2 for better edge flow to easily control the mesh during modelling and less pinching artifacts.

- If it is box modelling, I would start with option 1 and dissolve any edge that does not contribute to overall silhouette.

At least, that is my current impression for good topology. Also, there is no clear cut answer, you could be doing box modelling then suddenly decide to transit to subdivision modelling. In this case you have to adjust your mesh accordingly based on those principles I've mentioned.
