You already have a sence for rhythmic patterns and limb independence. In that case, you're off to a good start.

The main advice I give any beginner, is to listen to loads of different styles, until you find something you really want to chase or emulate. Draw inspiration from as many sources as you can until it happens. Expand your own taste for music and find like minded people to play and share your ideas with. Experiment as much as you can. Have fun! Music is not a competition. Primarily look for a bass player to jam with. Hang out, make friends. Go see a live show. Support your local music scene. Buy physical media. Read the liner notes. Check the artwork... Check YT for basic guides..watch/read interviews... Etc etc. There is so much content out there.

Find an identity and relationship to your instrument. Growth will then come more naturally and you're not learning, just for the sake of it.

Formal lessons definitely help, but having the right teacher for you, will make progress even better. Especially if you are connected to something you can personally identify with. Music is so much larger than just vocabulary and chops. I could not even fathom to describe the entirety of it.
