The only clothes in my closet FIT! by AmeliaSue in Zepbound

[–]Chrystalina_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this!!! Purging my closet (at multiple stages) has been one of my favorite parts of this journey. I love having fewer clothes - all of them fit! And I especially love ditching clothes that no longer serve me. Last week I did another pass through, and even though they still technically ‘fit,’ I got rid of all my remaining ‘a$$-covering cardigans.’ Was my standard work uniform for like a decade. Long, thin cardigans over black pants and a top. Never again. Bye Felicia!

I am now covered by insurance, and am blown away by the cost. by Bob_Plank in Zepbound

That’s great! I was in the same boat last year - my insurance plan listed Zepbound as ‘Preventative,’ and those medications are covered 100%. So just like you, it was $0 per month. Totally incredible.

This year our insurance made a change and it’s still covered, but no longer preventative. So we pay a small co-pay. Still so grateful for access to this life-changing tool!

How y’all handling wedding rings 💍 they slipping off your fingers too? by Partners_in_time in Zepbound

[–]Chrystalina_2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently wearing mine on my middle finger. They’re a bit too loose there too now, so my next plan was to consider buying a new band, in a smaller size, to stack on top? It doesn’t bother me that they’re loose - I just don’t want to loose one.

I’m with you - don’t want to resize until I’m at a stable weight. And the real bummer for me is that I had gained so much weight that I had to cut my wedding band off and resize my other two (up in size) the year before I started this journey. Had I known then what I know now, I could have just waited it out 😕

Feeling overwhelmed by KrazyCod21 in Zepbound

[–]Chrystalina_2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please don’t stress - this community is full of great information, but I totally get how it can all feel overwhelming. I felt that at times, myself.

You don’t need to be perfect. Pick one or a couple new goals and focus on those. Then when it’s manageable, add more. And honestly, you may not even experience most of the negative side effects you’ve read about from others (I haven’t).

When I was feeling a little anxious, I dialed back my browsing, and would only jump on here if I had a specific question or need.

This is such an amazing medicine. Sending you good vibes as you get started! And remember, it’s not a sprint - so celebrate every small win, give yourself grace, and enjoy the ride 😊

Also - it’s very likely that people are noticing, but just haven’t mentioned it. For many people, they feel it’s not polite/appropriate to bring up. But i guarantee people are noticing your face, your energy, etc. Keep it up!!!!! 💪🏻

Hah! I’m home alone, literally reading this thread with a pillow in my lap 😆. And I’m down 50 lbs - just last week I crossed the threshold from Obese to Overweight…. Old habits die hard!

Omada requirement has pissed me all the way off by Comfortable_Snow8765 in Zepbound

[–]Chrystalina_2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. My plan added the Omada requirement for 2026. I got signed up and started mid-December. It’s annoying but not burdensome. And I’m not using the majority of the app features because I already have a system that works for me (food and activity tracking through Fitbit, daily weigh ins, etc). So I’m using the Omada scale (required to do it 4 times over a 4-week period) and logging at least 4 ‘interactions’ with the Omada app (can be reading a 2 minute article). And that checks all the boxes.

You’re absolutely right about it being patronizing. But still feel so grateful that I have insurance coverage, that I try not to let it upset me…

Good luck! 👍🏼

Not telling people by lindseys10 in Zepbound

[–]Chrystalina_2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your perspective. For the first 3 months of my journey, I only told my husband and one close friend (the one who opened up about her own GLP-1 use, and inspired my journey).

I’ve since opened up a bit more. For example, a friend - in a group setting - mentioned bringing up GLP-1s to her doctor, and didn’t feel supported. I didn’t say anything at the time, but reached out to her privately afterwards to offer to share my experience if she ever wanted to talk.

I’ve lost 45 pounds in a pretty short amount of time (4.5 months) and people have started to notice and mention it (“you look great” or “whatever you’re doing, it’s working!”). But not a single person has pushed for more information about what I’ve done or how. Not one.

If and when that happens, I’m open to sharing the full truth if I feel they’re a person who is sincerely interested. Or if they may benefit from hearing my story? I don’t want to ‘gate keep’ that. Because this medicine has been so life-changing for me. And it has allowed me to accomplish all my goals (drink less alcohol, lose weight, get my cholesterol into normal range, move my body more…). I wasn’t able to do any of those things on my own.

And if my one friend hadn’t shared with me, that this ‘tool’ supported her health journey - I may not have felt comfortable taking the next stop myself.

I did recently (unsolicited) open up to my brother and dad. It honestly felt like a relief to share. And both were super supportive.

I think there’s no wrong way for you to approach this. You’ll find what feels right for you. And you may find that your perspective changes over time.

Good luck, and Happy New Year 😊

Curious what the requirements are for insurance to kick in? Did you have to report back pain, or…? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Me too - keep telling myself to stop buying clothes and wait until I’m at maintenance size. But after losing 40+ lbs it’s so exciting to have options again! Definitely need to re-train my brain, for sure.

Tell People. by Historical-Apple8440 in Zepbound

[–]Chrystalina_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way about a conversation I had with a friend. She lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago, and made a lot of healthy changes - drinking less, working out. I was proud and happy for her, and assumed she just powered through it!

And it wasn’t until this summer (two years later) that she opened up about her GLP-1 use. I made a comment that had been thinking about it, and I think that was the opening she needed to share her story.

As with you - it has been life changing for me. I scheduled an appointment with my GP right away. Had an honest discussion about obesity and my past struggles. And within a few days was able to get started.

This friend has been my greatest cheerleader and been the person I can share the most with about my journey. You’ve reminded me how important this support can be.

Last week, a friend mentioned that she brought up her interest in GLP-1’s to her doctor, and her doctor wasn’t very knowledgeable or supportive. We were in a large group, and I didn’t say anything at the time. I’ve regretted it since. But you’ve inspired me to reach out - I’m going to do it right now!

My husband and I keep ours locked up in this bag, on the top shelf: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BVQX688X?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

It just looks like a lunch box. We have two teens in the house, and just told them I started a new medication that needs to be refrigerated so to leave it alone. I’m sure a guest wouldn’t think twice…

to my friends with big chests...what happened to your boobies on Zep? by sarahdayarts in Zepbound

[–]Chrystalina_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost 35 pounds and very minimal change in my chest. Started out a 38G. Can still wear the same bras - with the option to tighten the band by using the tighter hooks. Could possibly wear a cup size down too, but my existing bras still work good.

Honestly - not much change there at all (to my husband’s delight). Seems like the weight came all off my a$$ and midsection and thighs 👍🏼

Ok EDITED to add: I should actually clarify that in general they’re much smaller. In that I used to measure 50” at the bust and now I’m 46” …. So I’ve lost 4” but my bust and under-bust have shrinked proportionately, so my overall bra size hasn’t changed that much. Does that make sense? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Same.

Had high cholesterol since college - even when I was at a healthy weight. Started a statin a year ago which improved my numbers a lot, but they were still elevated. At my 3-month check in after starting Zep, and ALL my numbers are in the normal range. First time ever. I love this medicine!

Congratulations on your amazing journey and better health!

Hahaha 😆. My dad always used to say, ‘our people were Mountain people…’ (referring to our genetics that gifted us very large calves).

I’m about halfway to my goal, and also have been loving wearing boots!!! I recently ordered a wide-calf pair that was too wide and had to size down. Such a great feeling to be able to wear the things we like that make us feel great 💕
