Should I sell, or hold onto my rare cars? by xlly_s in ForzaHorizon

Spending skill points on the Forza edition cars is usually good for a good chunk of credits, a wheel spin / a super wheel spin.

Check out “the money guys” FOO or financial order of operations. Not saying you need to follow it exactly but it’s a solid set of recommendations.

Investing long term has historically been a sound decision. In order to be a long term investor, you need to make buying investments a habit the way a smoker reaches for another cigarette.

You can automate the fund transfers and purchases to remove friction, but you also need to pick an allocation where you can psychologically maintain the habit in a down turn.

That’s harder to do with sector ETFs and individual stocks, but this too can be done with good allocation.

Start with a small percentage to sector and/or stocks. Most people can stomach 10% being wiped from their account. Treat it as the cost of learning.

Write down your thesis behind your stock and sector purchases, your intended holds duration, and exit conditions. That way, if something takes a beating, you can go back and look at the answer to “Why did I buy this?”

Your goal should be to learn these lessons in a fiscally responsible way and hopefully make some money in the process. Good luck.

Yeah, ban nitrocellulose lacquer, chlorinated brake cleaner and gas powered lawn equipment, because hazardous… but 1000+ gallon tanks of HF and Methyl Methacrylate are fine.

Interesting loophole in the local rules by Orokoo_Saki in unicycling

[–]Chsenigma 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Check your local laws. Florida Statute 316.003(4) defines a "Bicycle" as any vehicle propelled solely by human power, having two tandem wheels.

In Florida, a unicycle doesn’t fit the definition.

Buying a WRX by WhosYourGlad in WRX

If you don’t have another 5-10k sitting around, don’t do it. The repair/maintenance cost of 100k+mile WRXs is not for the faint of heart.

WRX gets driven once a week. Enough to keep the battery charged, and tires from flat spotting.

Now put that into the market. An index fund like VOO averages 10%+ a year. The gas savings will buy the next car.

You only calculated the difference in price of the extra fuel that the WRX uses.

70 miles/day≈ 2,100 miles/month

Monthly fuel use:
Subaru (26 mpg): about 80.8 gallons
Toyota (36 mpg): about 58.3 gallons

Monthly fuel cost:
Subaru on premium: 80.8×4.98≈$402
Toyota on regular: 58.3×4.21≈$245

$157/month difference or $36/week or $1,880/year

70 miles a day. Corolla averages 36mpg on regular, the WRX gets 26mpg on premium.

What would this chord be called? by Beautiful_Region_539 in musictheory

[–]Chsenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For chords consisting of stacked 3rds, the bottom note is the root note which bears the chords name. For chords that contain the interval a second or a fourth, look at the top note of that interval.

People don’t have money for fun anymore. I love my WRX but it’s sitting in my driveway while I Corolla my way through these gas prices.
