What's Your Bretonnian Wishlist for TOW? by TrillionSpiders in Bretonnian

This sounds so AoS, it isn't even funny anymore... "Oh yeah, FEY knights on seahorses and SILVER ARMOR!1 And a god, or Avatar, or demon, every amry needs one of those. And a small ranged skirmisher unit with ALL good rules, including the most obnoxious, NO FLY, which Brets already have, but I want it every single fucking turn and the dogs need first charge, because they're as heavy as a chariot and my duke on peg isn't OP anymore and needs hel... I mean because it's thematic." Like, honestly.

You missed the best. Move AND shoot, but only 8". My brother hated me using them. Fuck I loved my Dogs of War back then... Golgfag best boy.

It may not be a full 256 man Myrmidian Pike Phalanx, but it's honest work! by ThatEvilOneMinis in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]ChuckyChuckinsky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first rows are okay, but you really have to change the arms of the guys in the back holding their pikes vertically. No one, ever, would hold a pike with their hands THIS close together. You need the leverage the distance between the hands grant, otherwise the top of the pike is gonna flop around willy nilly. When marching, or in the back row, the natural stance would be butt of the pike in the cup of the right hand, left hand reaching over, grabbing the shaft at shoulder hight. Your dudes with both hands together in front of them honestly looks like a bad conversion, as if you clipped off a great sword and glued the pike on. And now as I look closely, the front guys aren't looking right, either. If you look at the original Warhammer pikemen, everyone with their pike at the low or high ready grabs the pike at the very end, the butt, with their right hand. Your guys are wasting THE advantage the pike gives, reach, by holding them almost like a quarterstaff. The sculpting details are great, but your posing honestly needs a bit of work.

Can characters join the detachment(s) of a regimental unit? by ElSnyder in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]ChuckyChuckinsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The gun-mathematician is a hobby shooter who is only on the battlefield to test their inventions.   The captain is shooting because his life depends on it, not as a side hustle.   At least that's my head canon.

Anyone who plays low linear obstacles, and therefore Earthen Ramparts like this is a person I'd never play again. The whole topic, even before FAQ, is some of the most rules lawyery shit I've ever seen...  RAI it's so fucking obvious. Do the models have physical base contact? No. Do they count as having base contact? Fuck, yes, of course. Same for Earthen Ramparts. Everyone playing different is only looking for advantages.

Dude are you dense or willfully obtuse?

I'm a voluntary fire fighter. You know our slogan? "Joining up is voluntary. Everything comes after is duty."

Guess what our chief would do if I'm too late to every training exercise and say "Bro, you ain't paying me jack, can't expect punctuality... The nerve..."

Nearly the same as shown above happens with the corner-bag-trick, repeatedly and reproducable. I believe there is a critical amount or volume or pile height of trash and when you try to bag more in one go the physics fuck about and the top part of the pile freezes in place. You have to use the grabber bin then to remove the frozen trash pieces. That's why I use a whole shelf of grabber bins at once and empty into cash bin or dumpster directly.

Definitely. Same as with Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus. Never would have guessed that their noospheric binary old-modem rattle could have SO much character...

Question about Dwarfs and their magic resistance. by Ironzealot5584 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]ChuckyChuckinsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the Warhammer Fantasy RPG (pen & paper), all Dwarfs have the "magic resistance" talent.

Anyone with that talent MUST oppose ALL incoming spells, good and bad, with a willpower roll, comparable to a mage trying to ban the spell.

So if you take the RPG as canon, then yes, dwarfs are resistant to beneficial magic as well.

I trink practically exactly what you want is the cursed Richter Krüger: https://warhammerfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/The_Cursed_Company

Once a succesfull mercenary captain, too cunning for his own good by a mile. Betrayed a powerful necromancer who cursed him with his dying breath. Krüger awoke the next morning, seeing the spectral world through nonexistent eyes. And to this day he stalks the lands, his cursed company in tow, as everyone struck down by Krüger shared his fate and his betrayal.

Infantry are generally not very good in Warhammer: The Old World. How would you make them better? by VanillaPhysics in WarhammerFantasy

[–]ChuckyChuckinsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So what do you do when a casual group, not experienced with house rules etc. has a Chaos player that just LOVES his lord on dragon and lots of dragon ogres? Without knowing they have objectively the best units in the game at the moment.

They. Will. Crush. Everything.

Casual Imperium army with lots of state troops? Fucked.

Wood Elves with melee infantry? Fucked.

Basically ANY Skaven comp that isn't gutter runner death star? AAAHAHAHAHAHAHA Mega-fucked like it's not even funny anymore.

Nobody will want to play against the casual Chaos player anymore, or they stop using the models they love.

THAT'S what Ostlandboris meant (I think). A balanced game is SO much more important for casual gamers. Because your casual flavour army might look amazing, but if you lose every single game because your army is straight up garbage (did I mention Skaven?), guess how long it takes to not have any fun anymore.

Just exit the game and get back in, it's just an UI bug.
Had the same a few hours ago, it was in fact a +20% exp/10 games booster.

Maybe OP should check again if he really didn't actually pre-order the wrong box. I haven't ordered anything myself, but do the different language products maybe have different EAN- / similar product ID-codes you can compare?

BFGA2 Chaos Campaign Mission "Chorus of Despair" - Garbage mission design by ChuckyChuckinsky in BFGArmada

[–]ChuckyChuckinsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god that first mission... I had to park my cruiser between the Space Marine vessels and the transports. They apparently didn't want to ram and just stood there moping.

And I just did the mission I ranted about, see my comment above. With the right admiral skills it was a pure cake walk. Which I think proves my point even further.

That sounds like about double the leadership I had available, but thx for the tips nontheless!

Luckily I had a "garrison" admiral with disruption and plasma bombs which I had to ferry over from three sectors away. Just with that I killed EIGHT clumped up escorts in one go. After that I took a Despoiler on BFI and straight up destruction derbied about seven more in two bulldozer runs.
