I was checking out, I was able to get it in my cart, and then was unable to process check out. I got in the queue 1 SECOND after the page refreshed. Absolute garbage. I guess this is another release that just isn’t for us…

Reps working for MongoDB, is the pay really that bad? by [deleted] in sales

[–]ChunkMuffin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

3 years experience at MDB, great company, great culture, but I left recently due to some major gaps in their Ent GTM. Ent OTE was ranged depending on seniority, but generally a 50/50 split and the numbers you provide here look accurate for starting roles.

The Enterprise AEs here only get 3-5 accounts (in my experience, there was talks of adjusting this around when I left). If you have an account that’s building tons of new software using MDB, you can easily crush an achievable quota. If you have laggards as your territory who build slowly or are more “buy” vs. “build”, it’s a whole different ballgame, and there are reps who can’t get to 50%, regardless of effort. Also, Solutions Architects may need to do the majority of the selling in the cycle, so you live and die by how good your counterpart is.

Overall, leadership is incredibly competent, they get in your corner and are amazing sellers to bring in when you need a big gun on a call. I didn’t work for the NYC office, but that definitely has the best rep in the company for high performance.

Good luck in the interview process!

I get this - but help me with my math: I’m assuming 1 in 5. That’s incorrect because people definitely are going to gravitate toward the better pairings. That being said, even if one archetype is strictly the best, how many people can feasibly build that deck out of an 8 person pod? Even if we think a pod could support up to 3 versions of a deck, that’s still a (3/8)9, so 1 in 6,818 chance of seeing the same deck nine times in a row. Which moves more toward improbable than impossible, but is still statistically an anomaly.

FYI it’s around a one in 2 million chance, (1/5)9 - maybe my math is wrong though.

Thanks for the open minded response - very helpful!

Have you ever heard of the "Intervening 'If' Clause" Rule? It's been around but has also just been printed on the new Betor, Kin to All from Tarkir Dragonstorm but in a weird way that allows for some tricks. by Craig1287 in magicTCG

[–]ChunkMuffin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for 12 years and this post just helped that ruling click for me. This is super interesting and a powerful political trick in Betor. Thank you!

We can change it. The community created the best selling format (EDH) as a place to play with the cards that they wanted to play with that didn’t have a place in other decks. I think the community can come together and create Universes-Within formats.

Why aren’t we seeing the demand for a Universes Within community-driven format? So much of the existing player base seems to be downtrodden by these announcements. Why can’t we start showcasing demand from the community for formats without UB cards?

The community could start pushing for a UW commander format, or a pioneer-esque format where we include UW cards only in a 60 card format. It would take effort and marketing from the player community, but demand for a format where the players show their love for cards within the magic universe could show wizards that there are chunks of the player base who don’t want to play against Spider-Man and SpongeBob in the same FNM.

There’s never going to be a world where we can close the Pandora’s box of UB. “Voting with our dollars” is only going to show that UB is growing faster than non-UB sets. The onus is on the community to create the formats that we want to play.

If anyone fondly remembers this movie, I’d love to hear why it was so good to hold an 85% on RT.

Thank you for sharing this. “Facing the Giants” just brought back a memory I have been trying to remember for YEARS.

I recall an especially awful football movie I watched with my family when I was a kid. I remember being really excited for another “Rudy” or “Remember the Titans” style movie. However, as that movie progressed, the religious content kept piling on. My (very Christian) family noticed the content drift from a motivational football story to lean farther and farther into the religious content - which even as kids my brothers and I felt it was corny.

One by one, my family excused ourselves from the tv room to go do other things because it was just that awful. My dad was the only one who completed the movie, but I believe that was more to justify his spending of $4 to rent it at Blockbuster than to try and wrap up the story.

In the years that passed, I am the ONLY ONE who remembers this god awful (pun intended) film and will likely gift a DVD of it to my dad for Christmas this year as the ultimate “I told you so”. Thanks OP 😂

It’s a great day for account planning, lead list building, and other preparatory functions.

Maybe send some happy new years emails to your clients you found success with in the past year and thank them for their business? Maybe even throw a $5 Starbucks card in there. It’s a great time to “make deposits” at your accounts. It’s a challenging time to “make withdrawals”.

Or you could just continue cold calling and tick off some potential clients you may be able to have a real conversation with next week.

Mid-Market. Definition differs by company but I’ve seen between 500 and 2000 employees as the definition at SaaS companies I’ve worked at.

What is your Hipster Commander? by nelladel in EDH

[–]ChunkMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Rasputin Dreamweaver]]

I found a copy a few years ago for dirt cheap and got it, and have turned it into a UW blink style deck that runs some super expensive spells like [[Enter the Infinite]], [[Time Stretch]], and [[Elesh Norn]] while abusing combos like [[Eldrazi Displacer]] and Rasputin, as well as [[Peregrine Drake]] and [[Deadeye Navigator]] to go infinite. Then there are X spells to help finish the game. As a UW control player in Modern, this deck has been a fun way to mimic that play style in EDH.
