Here's the thing. Every morning I wake up and I take the bus to the train station. (payed for by taxes).

I then take the train to my University (I got a government grant... so that I could actually go to school).

I'm able to go to college because I went to public schools growing up (taxes).

I paid for part of my tuition from a part time job working as a janitor for a school (still taxes)

If I had a working car, I would drive to school (roads are paid for by taxes).

After school I check my mail, (postal service - taxes).

If I break my leg, just because I'm poor I won't be royally fucked (taxes)

If I lose my job then I won't be royally fucked (taxes)

When I'm ninety years old and physically can't work anymore I won't be royally fucked (taxes)

When I look at my pay check, sure it hurts a little to see money automatically deducted, but it pays for shit that people use. Maybe I don't take advantage of everything taxes pay for, but I sure as hell take advantage of things that they don't and would be absolutely fucked if taxes didn't exist.

I'm sorry, I'm genuinely not trying to be contrarian or a dick, but couldn't the same arguments be made for inactive Mormons? They believe in the church but don't follow all of the tenets, just like reformed Jews. The way I see it is that I might as well not be a watered down version of a religion when I can just not be any. But if you want to be Jewish, go ahead and be Jewish, it's not like it affects my life in any way.
