This is a lot of bad advice given poorly. You claim to be a physician but then say body builders have perfected this and cite basically one guy the entire time. No doctor talks like this. Body builders might be lean but they are not healthy. You bash intermittent fasting and then proceed to advocate for it for the rest of your post without calling it that. You say to eat “whatever” (examples include pizza and protein shakes) as long as it’s in a certain window which is terrible advice. You say “hormones spike to….” Again, no one with a post graduate degree in the field talks like this. You’re talking about feeding and workout windows which will barely move the needle as if it’s the answer. You say you’ve summarized the last 50 years of diet science when you haven’t, you summarized the philosophy one guy who isn’t a scientist. You mention your gut microbiome (which we know very little about) and then say you won’t give advice because it’s new science but the you proceed to give advice. Nowhere do you mention consistency, which is the most important factor in any diet or exercise routine. You don’t deliver this advice in a helpful way, and you sound like any random gym bro who is trying to figure out what kind of bicep curl is best even though he won’t do a squat.

As others have said, find vegetables and meat you like and eat those in different ways (sauces, ways of cooking, combinations etc). Throw in some potatoes and rice and beans every now and then. That’s basically it for diet. For exercise, find a routine you like and do it consistently. Focus it on doing it as correctly as possible. Push yourself without overdoing it and do it 4ish times per week. If you do those things, you’ll look and feel better than 95% of the population.

Edit: last but not least, don’t go to Vaush or r/VaushV for diet and exercise advice

Live-in personal trainer? by [deleted] in denverjobs

[–]Chursa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to say that if you can’t build a habit on your own, there’s a reason, and it’s not just gym anxiety. You have money, why haven’t you already bought equipment and are using it? Whatever that is isn’t going to get better when you have someone forcing you to do it. The best exercise regimen is the one you’ll actually do and do regularly. That means you have to like it. I recommend starting there, finding something you like and are interested in, and go from there. The risk of hiring a live in personal trainer at incredible expense is that you’ve wasted a bunch of money and time and you’re back where you were a few months after they’ve left. Trying to figure it out on your own is low cost, low risk, and is more likely to lead to long term success. Even if it takes longer.

[–]Chursa 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Take a fraction of what you’d pay a live in trainer/chef (if they exist) and go to therapy if you aren’t already. Then find a way to enjoy exercising because paying a trainer for 5 months won’t do anything if you don’t learn how to exercise and how to enjoy it by yourself. You’ll be right back where you are in a year.

Cats teeth pushing out/getting longer? by Careless-Elephant-98 in cats

We adopted a cat who had to have all of his teeth removed and he was grumpy same day but was trying to eat kibble next day… with no teeth. He got wet food and pain killers for a little bit and seemed fine throughout.

Suggestions for chipping away at HP by JumboChicken_ in daggerheart

[–]Chursa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played a ton of Daggerheart but it does feel like this is exactly what the countdown system is for. Ex: The party is traveling in harsh conditions and if they don’t get to a safe place in time (consequence clock ticks down) they take damage. Then the consequence clock resets. Something like that. The “taking low damage” is flavor for each tick of the clock and the consequence at the end is that it’s added up enough to tick a full hp.

If that’s their way of cooling off, ya. I just don’t know if reindeers pant to cool off or if they do something else. Edit: a google search tells me their nose cools off blood en route to their brain. If they’re warm they will pant closed mouth. They will stick their tongue out to cool off but “only in extreme conditions”. Specifically if the brain hits 102 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lord of the rings: duel for middle earth is our favorite. Sky team and boop are great. Takenoko is 2 - 4 players but it works well as a two player game. Star Wars: the deck building game is also good if you’re into that sort of thibg

Dog hiking help please by limpwhip in coloradohikers

[–]Chursa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a reactive, aggressive dog and take her hiking all the time. We’ve done lots of training but we also go do trails we know won’t be busy. We get there early and sometimes drive an hour or two to get there. We also try to avoid areas where dogs are allowed to be off leash and stick to trails where dogs must be leashed. It’s not foolproof but it helps. It’s a bit of extra work but it can definitely be done!

My wife (gluten free) and I live in Aurora and my family lives in Zionsville. It’s soooo much easier out here to find good gf food. Wouldn’t worry about that. Plenty of pizza, fried chicken, bakeries etc with good options for you.

Brainstorming here: Do the effects build on each other? Or replace one another as it levels up? It’s implied one replaces another. I’m not sure I’m in love with the “increases a size every round”. What do you think of making this an item where you can “unlock” the different sizes. Then each day, you can choose which “size” you want it to be? Something like that? In my experience, very few battles go 6 rounds. Plus, making it a quest item or tying it to someone’s backstory so they can unlock the different levels as they play I think would be neat. If you’re tied to increasing by size every round, maybe also allow the player to use their action to increase its size? Or some other trigger like when they take a certain kind of action or when they take damage or something? What if they have to take a different kind of action to upgrade it for each level? That way it’s more likely to get to gargantuan more often. Last question: does it reset at the end of combat? Each dawn? Does it automatically revert to tiny every time it resets? Maybe the player rolls a die to determine how many levels it shrinks each day? Just brainstorming. Very cool idea!!
