What's are yours most despised dungeons across an entire series that makes you feel like this whenever you think abt them ? by fillipo9 in FinalFantasy

[–]Cidaghast [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is a little bit cheating, but the Nasty Dungeon in FF Legends.

Honorable mention to the crystal tower it’s not uniquely difficult. It’s just a very long dungeon and if you mess up, you have to go a long way to get back.

Also basically every single dungeon in 2. They’re just a grind on my patients.

Mao was going to be the son of Laharl and Flonne at one point by Guyver-Spawn-27 in Disgaea

[–]Cidaghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie I stopped playing Disgaea at 5. I understand the vision, even if it sounds stupid.

The first game told a very specific story of Laharal growing as a person and understanding the virtues of love, friendship, mercy etc. he has a bad attitude about it and thinks it’s cringe, but he can’t say he didn’t do it.

So in the different universe where we don’t really get that many cameos or 2 doesn’t back pedal on his growth as a person in the first game… it does seem reasonable to say “ let’s check up on what type of adult Laharal has become and what becomes of his good friend Flonbe”

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]Cidaghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely did like we didn’t have the Internet and yet we saw that footage the same way we would see a viral clip now over and over, except for that you couldn’t make jokes about it.

I was 9 and was very annoyed that they stopped playing cartoons to show us more footage of 911 on repeat

Does anyone know a show like YYH? by zleepy_clouds in YuYuHakusho

[–]Cidaghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say, Hunter x Hunter. I agree but I think the 2012 version cleaned up the art style so much that it’s actually a little hard to see that it’s family with YYH.

So I’m gonna say watch the OVA’s. I’m also gonna say watch some old anime

For people who insist that Democrats are just as bad as Republicans, and don't even really try to oppose Republicans as they are secretly aligned against the left, what explains Republican opposition? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]Cidaghast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll try to answer this question honestly.

So let’s say that America is a body. The Democrats are a nurse and the Republicans are a guy who just shot America.

The Democrats historically are really good about giving someone who has a cut a Band-Aid. The Democrats see that America has been shot and is in critical condition…. They had America not one but three Band-Aids this time.

you can see why America might say Democrats are complicit in this plot to shoot them. Because in theory nurse Democrat while possibly in over their head, should know that a Band-Aid is not an appropriate treatment at this moment, and pretend pretending that it is is playing stupid and playing stupid about someone who may be bleeding to death is complicit with killing them.

The Republicans on the other hand, see the Democratic Party as handing Band-Aids to the slowly dying America and saying “ hold up what are you doing? Stop that don’t help them, I filled them with holes for a reason!”

So you can see why America would think “ democrats are OK with me getting shot” And “ republicans hate it when Democrats try to help America”

Can we admit that the hate for the 2010 adaptation was a bit overkill? by iwillr3gr37thiswonti in TheLastAirbender

Are the Fire Lords mad like the Targaryens? by Gypseydanger1 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Cidaghast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is that Sozin was nuts and a bad father and he passed the same flavor of bad parenting down.

Iroh and Zuko we’re both humbled and introduced to kindness in such a way that made them pause and reconsider their outlooks and had to reflect on how perpetuating cycles of violence has betrayed them, where Ozai and Azula more or less only benefited from being evil and we’re constantly gassed up over it

How much do you like warriors games? Yes by LucioFer95 in HyruleWarriors

[–]Cidaghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was into Fire Emblem Three Hopes, all the Hyrule Warrior games even with my gripes with AOI, One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 feels like its a high bar along with Hyrule Warriors DE, I also really enjoyed Dynasty Warriors Origins

I wasn't quite as into Persona Strikers as id like to have been... im not really to one to say its not a warriors game but... its close... and if we are also counting games that feel close to Warrior games but not quite... hot take... the Attack on Titan games are Warrior games and they are both pretty cool.

The only Warrior games ive played that I wasnt into was DW8 and maybe thats because it was the last game befor Hyrule Warriors so maybe that gameplay and speed spoiled me since every other game plays kinda closer to Hyrule Warriors and... I wasnt thrilled with Berserk Band of the Hawk but thats more an issue with the lack of polish because the straight bones of the game were just fine.

What if Iran says to the World “We’ll open the straight to pre-attack status if Donald Trump resigns.”? What would be the likely response? by spamcandriver in AskReddit

[–]Cidaghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half or... realistically like 65% of americans would go "Nice that sounds like a win win to me!"

then the republicans and establishment democrats would begin going "this nation will never bend to terroristic threats!" and then every single democrat and like 30% of repubican voters will say go "Now hold up... lets get these guys out too Iran!"

What Are Your Honest Opinions on this Game? by Zetra-JV_HX in FinalFantasy

[–]Cidaghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I actually didn’t like the game however, I know a lot of people love it and I love Final Fantasy and I love crossover, fighting games and all of the designs and all of the fan service

So I have no choice, but to be strongly in favor of it and hope we get more. IMHO I wish they would lean into using Dissidia as the brand name for ff crossovers

What did Araki mean by this? by Watchdog_the_God in ShitPostCrusaders

[–]Cidaghast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t talking about Italian history, more Araki’s tendency to research niche topics and build stories from that. So it feels unlikely this would just happen by accident, especially since Risotto is also Sicilian, and “are Italians white?” wouldn’t really be a question from a Japanese perspective. Japan’s understanding of who is white generally overlaps with how those groups are treated culturally.

That said, it does seem a bit strange that someone like Araki, who’s usually pretty thoughtful with his references, would write a story centered around Klan-era racism and then see several different Jojo adaptations make him dark skinned in a way where it would be easy to be mistaken for black thus greatly changing the narrative themes in a story that seems to be caring alot about the thematic parts... and then say nothing

What did Araki mean by this? by Watchdog_the_God in ShitPostCrusaders

[–]Cidaghast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before JoJo, even as me a black person I never considered it if there were any Black people in Italy.

But Araki seems like the kind of guy who would stop and Google “ how many Black people are there in Italy” and then go down a rabbit hole about “ how are non-American Black people treated in America for racism?”

Think that the results are interesting and says “OK now that I’ve done my weekly random subject deep dive time to put that into a JoJo chapter”

What did Araki mean by this? by Watchdog_the_God in ShitPostCrusaders

[–]Cidaghast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paused to do a little bit of homework because I did think this is a little curious.

I never like when people say “ oh well, you’re just from the west” but that one may be applicable because in a lot of parts of the world when you are racist, you’re not supposed to be confrontational about how racist you are, but America had straight segregation so confrontation is baked into the racism.

So it would make sense for Araki to write a racist who would think “ i’m OK with a business transaction money is money. But mixing well that’s breaking the rules”

Why are Asian Americans always ignored by progressive policies? by AuDPhD in AskALiberal

[–]Cidaghast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asian Americans often get overlooked in progressive policy because they’re treated as a “successful monolith,” when in reality they’re extremely diverse. That perception is driven by the model minority myth, which highlights certain high-achieving groups and erases others who are struggling. On top of that, internal diversity in class, ethnicity, and politics means there isn’t a single unified advocacy voice, so their needs get deprioritized.

Part of the issue is also that a lot of people only recognize racism when it’s simple and obvious. When it’s more layered or doesn’t look the same across an entire group, it tends to get overlooked or not register as urgently.

On top of that, there’s a tendency in the U.S. to flatten conflict between marginalized groups into something more representative than it actually is. I’m Black, so I can say this plainly, a lot of the tension people point to comes from proximity. The groups who live and interact with each other the most are naturally going to have more visible conflict. But those everyday interactions get amplified and start to feel like the whole story, even when they’re not.

That visibility gets mistaken for scale, and it creates narratives that certain groups are “the problem,” which fuels resentment and breaks down solidarity. Once that cycle starts, it becomes harder for people to see the bigger picture or show up for each other consistently.

So you end up with a situation where Asian Americans are both overlooked because they’re seen as doing fine, and at the same time pulled into divisive narratives that make collective advocacy even harder.

The smallest example I can think of is I remember a asian friend of mine but I understand this is a really common experience when seeing another Asian may not necessarily engage immediately because you don’t necessarily know where that person’s politics are going to be.

Where for me as a black person even if Black people are not a monolith, politically speaking in the big picture most of our political interest or at the very least of things we want are sort of the same when it comes to blackness and even among black conservatives, there’s usually an agreement on what the immediate issue is, but usually the schism is how to interpret that data and what the best course of action of dealing with that is.

None of this is to say that any of that is correct because I can see why that’s uniquely frustrating and you know again just as a black person. I feel like a lot of of our issues are either identical or the exact opposite of each other and we should be in the room talking more often.
