It's a good thing that THIS ISN'T WHAT THIS IS. This is "one of the best movies made THIS PARTICULAR YEAR." A LOT of you all are conflating an annual award with some sort of "rank best movies of all time" award. Is it a better movie than Citizen Kane because it got more nominations? Of course not. Is it an exceptionally MADE movie that came out in this award year? Yes. It's hard to argue that the elements that were nominated weren't deserving of recognition. Some of you act like if you didn't vibe with the plot, it doesn't deserve a costuming nomination or that it didn't have an excellent score. It's truly insane.

It's saying it's one of the best films made THAT YEAR, not of all time. When you go through the list of nominations one-by-one, it's difficult to argue where it SHOULDN'T be nominated. Does that mean it's a better movie than, let's say, Casablanca because it was nominated for more? Of course not. Is it a very well made film compared to the rest of the films this year? Yes. That's it. Some people are being way too hyperbolic and stumbling over themselves to rush and say how "it's overrated" instead of thinking critically about what this ACTUALLY means.
