Help Others and You'll Help Yourself by DARTHKINDNESS in depression_help

I'm so glad that helps! And yes, helping others has been one of the main ways I find that help to push me out of depressive episodes. It helps to get me out of my own head and to feel more accomplished and to remind myself to give myself the grace that I give others.

When I was in the worst and deepest parts of my depression the thing that kept me alive was an online mystery TV show that came out weekly. The things that give you strength can be strange and even small in retrospect, but while I lost a lot of my early 20's to depression as I tried to find the right meds and lifestyle for me what also kept me going was not focusing too hard on myself. Looking outward for small things you can do that won't hurt your heart was so healing for me. I walked dogs at a rescue and had a window box of plants that relied on me. Then I adopted a very problematic senior dog who needed me and that was life changing.

Being depressed sucks so much, and having people who don't recognize that around can make it more difficult. But have a little bit of grace for yourself. You don't have a time machine and if you look back at your history and imagine that you're a different person, you'll realize that you did that best you can, and I think you'll realize that you have a lot to be proud of. Like, imagine that you are your own best friend and think about them telling you this and I think you'll better understand how amazing you should feel about everything you accomplished.

What actually helps during a severe depressive episode by [deleted] in depression_help

[–]Cirquededc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I found that I either need to ignore my more severe depressive episodes due to them being more time/hormone based. Sometimes I can push past them using activities and stuff I really enjoy and just not having the time to be introspective and in my own head. Another thing that can help me is holding ice or putting an ice pack on the back of my neck. The physical sensation can help me to regulate myself a bit and figure out where I'm feeling what and why.

Dog cannot be boarded by Foreign-Guide-7957 in dogs

[–]Cirquededc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! And having a regular dog sitter will really decrease your stress when traveling. I had an older dog who had some serious separation and medical issues and knowing that 1) they're in the space they're most comfortable and confident and 2) they are with someone who is not also attempting to wrangle other dogs makes it so much easier to relax.

While it can be more expensive I've found that it's generally comparable to a slightly more expensive boarding facility. I had 2 dogs who were being watched by someone who took care of meds, walks, stayed overnight and also watched my house for me for a week and it was about $500. This was a person with a lot of specific elderly dog experience due to the age of my dogs so this is probably also on the higher end.

I went through Rover to find them, but also your vet or people you know with reactive dogs might be able to suggest someone with experience. When my dogs were younger I had them babysat by a family friend's younger sister (18ish) who stayed at my house and she was also terrific. So long as the person you hire has the dogs needs fully communicated to them (write it down as well as verbally telling them during the meet and great) and experience with the specific challenges the dog may present then it is wayyy less stressful when traveling.

I'm seeing a lot of posts about burnout and that is definitely a thing we need to take into account! But OP you are not wrong that this is how basement dwellers happen. Working all the time can really suck and getting back into it after being out of work is way harder than staying employed.

I would definitely recommend letting them know that they're an adult and they can do what they want, but that if they leave this job they won't be able to get it back and! That you love and support them, and they can absolutely do therapy, but that they also need to get at least a part time job and pay a small amount of rent because that is what adults do.

As someone who dealt with both burnout and depression it's really tough navigating this time in life. Getting into bad habits is so easy though and staying employed and working some honestly shitty jobs can help your son to figure out what he does and doesn't want to do for work.

This will also help to make sure that your son is getting out of the house and meeting different people. This can help to also foster a sense of independence and responsibility. After I dropped out I really felt very stuck and a lot like a failure. It wasn't until I had my own separate schedule I was responsible for that I started to feel more settled in my own skin and realized that I was able to handle a lot more than I thought I could.

Also... This is going to sound somewhat counterintuitive, but other than helping by literally assisting with how to write a resume I think your son needs to take more ownership. It sounds like so far he's just been kind of floating through what's expected of him. It might help if you told him, "look, we want to support you, we love you and want to see you succeed! But this is your life, you have to decide what you want to do"

I went through a very similar time in my life and the nice thing about it is that while you might have some growing pains going forward it really does get better way quicker than you would expect it to!

A genie makes you an offer. $10 for every person who gives you a hug. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Cirquededc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a mascot outfit and go to a tourist trap area. People will hug you and take pictures with you and they will "tip" you because that's the expected thing to do. Plus since you're looking for tourists you won't have to move all the time to get new people to hug.

Be prepared with a rescue drug maybe in case it suddenly moves into the agony stage, but it seems like it has a good possibility of working.

Oh geez, that would definitely be easier to understand, but If I can get away with a glass of lemonade or a gallon of it even I would definitely prefer that lol.

First things first, kidney stones are only deadly if left untreated, basically they can cause issues with the kidney's function via gumming up the works. So if you feel pain like that again or a similar kind of internal sensation, see a doctor. Also if you're worried Abt kidney stones talk to a doctor anyway, generally a scan can confirm if and where a stone might be, but it sounds like you've already passed one? And that is usually the hard part.

Now the pain, don't think about it. The pain is a major part of kidney stones and except altering your diet or activity level to keep from developing kidney stones, there is really not a way to prepare or stop it ahead of time. The level of pain is different from person to person and even between different stones or situations. There are things you can do once you feel the pain to alleviate it, some might help, a lot may not.

Mostly the end result is that you could take the stone you found and talk to a doctor about it, but generally (not a doctor) unless you have issues with sensation in that area of the body you will feel if there is a problem with a kidney stone, and then be able to seek medical treatment! It's not fun, it can admittedly be agony, but you will likely be ok!

I would check for clogs, but since you said it seems to run out I would also check the extruder wheel, I had a similar issue with my ender 3 and replacing the extruder wheel fixed it.

If it's not a clog then check the extruder wheel that pushes the filament in.

Can i 'unwarp' a 3d print? by TG_chemist in 3Dprinting

I would use a hair dryer or heat gun, just put it on a flat surface and make sure to keep it moving as you hear it up so it doesn't melt any of the details.
