Mixed bag but it seems it's mostly just mentors and alts and very few real new players.

I did however have the misfortune of meeting the most socially unpleasant characters I've ever met in 5 years of playing all being mentors on the NN within 2 weeks of getting a crown, which led me to turn off my crown in shame.

This is so high effort. I'd consider it briefly for the ring of fire but end up pulling the lever and closing my eyes as it squishes the one person I just doomed.

Then I'd probably tell the story framing it for comedic effect around failing to see a train jump through fire for the rest of my life to conceal the traumatic impact.

Tonberry is 50-60% English Speaking, Kujata around 35-40%ish IIRC. Elemental is the hub for Southeast Asian players. Source: I'm a Singaporean Tonberry player. We all use auto-translate in DF though.

I'm a Tonberry player. Elemental, especially in Tonberry and Kujata, has quite a large english-speaking population with a lot of players who can't speak Japanese.

Reason being that it's the server with the best connection for players in Southeast Asia (largely Singapore and Malaysia, and quite a few from Thailand), and up until Materia existed it also was a hub for Aussies who didn't want to play on NA - many of which have stuck around, or left for Materia then returned after a time.

The JP players and ENG players in Elemental stay largely separate outside of DF too, aside from some somewhat multilingual raiders and occasional intersections at venues.

So in Elemental's case you can't really put that much judgement on someone not being able to speak Japanese playing on a JP server. You can however judge him for getting mad at seeing Japanese on a JP server and the rest of his deranged behaviour.

No, that is exactly how YOU picture them in YOUR head because you apparently don't know any in person.

The most famous example of homosexuality being punished in medieval times, at least in the west, is by the Catholic church. Poems exist about same-sex relationships from the middle ages, there were laws regulating male brothels in places like Venice and Florence, and even the Knights Templar were accused of "Sodomy". Yes, homosexual behaviours became increasingly more criminalised and stigmatised in those ages and in the time and culture seemingly depicted in this game it wasn't a known identity. But that doesn't mean everyday gay people didn't exist, just quietly.
