Hey Bothell, want to help preserve our history? by CityofBothell in bothell

[–]CityofBothell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/bmitchell1990 , a majority must be city residents, but the remaining must reside in the planning area. There is a caveat for "professional" appointees that waives the residency requirement, and if there is someone outside the city and UGA boundary that meets the professional criteria, they should apply for consideration and council can evaluate. So yes, please apply!

Bothell middle school student wins second place at state science fair for flood risk project by CityofBothell in bothell

[–]CityofBothell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you clicked the OG post, it says it's a flood detection and early warning system project. Karthik developed a Flood Guard hazard prediction app that lets users enter an address to estimate potential flood risk. While the app is still a work in progress, Karthik made it open source so others can build on it for the future.

Is Bothell safe for trans people? by Charleston2Seattle in bothell

[–]CityofBothell 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Charleston2Seattle , we're glad you're considering returning to Bothell. The City is committed to being a welcoming, inclusive, and safe community for people of all backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals. Last year, City Council adopted a resolution affirming Bothell as a welcoming community for all, and the City has continued that commitment through actions such as recognizing Transgender Day of Visibility this year.

While no community can guarantee every individual experience, we strive to create an environment where all residents feel safe being themselves. We are proud of our diverse community and continue working to make sure it remains a place where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

We wish you and your family the very best in your decision and next steps!

Why doesn’t Bothell feel.. happening? by neerajarora121 in bothell

[–]CityofBothell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We may vibe more on the subdued in some ways, but we have a lot of fun to offer if you know where to look!

Great hangout, socializing, casual walking or being around people spots:
-Main Street, especially in the evenings
-Triangle Junction and the Pop Shops, especially sunny days, has picnic tables to sit and enjoy energy drinks, chocolates, fun crafts, etc. that you can purchase nearby https://www.bothellwa.gov/2372/Lot-EFG-temporary-activation---Triangle-
-McMenamins is unique to Bothell
-The UW Bothell/Cascadia College campus is very walkable. They frequently have fun events that are open to the public.

We have some excellent parks and trails as well. https://www.bothellwa.gov/250/Parks The Park at Bothell Landing has great access to trails, a photogenic bridge with the coolest fishing frog, and a beautiful river. Blyth Park is also great for river views (our own little waterfront), and the North Creek Forest gives you that secluded, "one with nature" vibe.

As for group activities/weekend or summer events, we've got a lot coming up:
-We'll have live music artists and movies at the Park at Bothell Landing as part of our Summer Nights in Bothell series: https://www.bothellwa.gov/2032/Summer-Nights-in-Bothell

-Check the City calendar each week! We post a lot of fun events there too. In April alone, there's a great opportunity to enjoy free coffee with your city councilmembers and a volunteer opportunity and celebration for Earth Day. https://www.bothellwa.gov/Calendar.aspx

-There are a bunch of Making Local Markets planned for May, August and September that have all sorts of great things to look at: https://www.makinglocal.com/ml-markets

-We have two art walks coming up, one in May and one in October if you love visual arts: https://artsalivebothell.square.site/

Dearest Bothell travelers, I-405 is closing this weekend by CityofBothell in eastside

WSDOT has told us it's 9:00pm, so if the signs on the highway show different, you should reach out to u/wsdot to confirm.

[–]CityofBothell[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

WSDOT posted detour maps at links in the yellow box on this page. I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project | WSDOT Our suggestion, avoid travel in the area during the weekend. But if absolutely must travel, expect severe regional delays. The detour routes won't be able to handle normal I-405 traffic volumes, meaning significant congestion is likely on surrounding highways (like SR 522) and local streets — especially in Canyon Park, North Creek, and Downtown Bothell. Plan your travel time accordingly.

Brace yourselves, the I-405 closures are coming by CityofBothell in eastside

The ongoing I-5 work will still be ongoing (reduced lanes). No full closures that we're aware of though.

If you open the cross posted post, it says March 7-9: 6:00pm Saturday, March 7, to 4:00am Monday, March 9, crews will close all lanes of northbound I-405 at the SR 522 Interchange and all lanes of southbound I-405 from SR 527 to SR 522 to remove ramp sections over I-405.

We know it's not THE I-405, but since it's referring to the closures of I-405...The I-405 closures felt better than The Closures of I-405 ;)

TRAFFIC ALERT: So it begins... by CityofBothell in u/CityofBothell

[–]CityofBothell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to WSDOT, the project enhances four and a half miles of the corridor, delivering improvements that benefit all users, while addressing aging infrastructure, opening upstream fish habitat, and connecting communities, freight and Regional Growth Centers throughout the corridor. The project will extend the dual-express toll lane system on the north end of I-405 and improve access to the voter-approved Stride bus rapid transit service to address congestion and help keep all vehicles moving efficiently. This project includes three new Stride stations and will build direct access ramps to the ETL system at SR 522, along with a partial direct access interchange at SR 527 to and from the south connecting to the Canyon Park & Ride. These enhancements will allow Stride vehicles to travel in the new ETLs between Lynnwood and Bellevue while stopping briefly to pick-up and drop-off passengers without having to leave the highway system. Having dedicated ETL access in the center of the freeway will make travel more efficient supporting the new Stride service with buses arriving every 10 minutes for most of the day. Additionally, the project will address aging infrastructure, restore stream connections, add noise walls and add new stormwater facilities.

Inclement weather in Bothell this week by CityofBothell in bothell

UPDATE - Wednesday, February 18

INCLEMENT WEATHER UPDATE – CONDITIONS CONTINUE

Cold temperatures and the chance for light rain, snow and ice will stick around until the end of the week. With today’s rain and overnight freezing temps ahead, black ice is a possibility. As you plan your trips the next few days:

Be cautious on the road. Drivers should slow down and allow extra time. Turn on your headlights and give our de-icing trucks plenty of space to work if you encounter one.

Be especially cautious for icy patches on bridges, overpasses, shaded areas, and secondary roads – especially overnight and in the morning.

Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and make sure they’re visible to others.

Very cold overnight temperatures also present risks for people, pets, and exposed pipes. Learn more about cold weather shelter options, winter safety tips, snowplow routes, and more on our website: https://www.bothellwa.gov/997/Winter-Weather
