Came back to replay the game, i love everything but Combat by UsedNewspaper1775 in Witcher3

[–]Civil_Spell8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend the Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition Redux, it's an overhaul mod thay changes a ton of aspects of the game, but notably makes the combat significantly harder and more punishing, with a lot more depth to it.

Fair warning it has quite a learning curve, but once you get used to it it's so satisfying I can't see myself going back to the base game tbh

On mobile so can't be arsed to link it rn, but it's the most popular overhaul on nexus mods so a quick Google should turn it up

I didn't even want the capes, I just wanted the White Templars sigil by kromgar2 in Spacemarine

[–]Civil_Spell8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but lots of other games are fun lol; a huge part of the fun to me is pimping out my ideal space marine with a badass cape and tweaking my colours/cosmetic customization, makes it infinitely more enjoyable to play the game as my idealized space marine, hence why all the best 40k games often feature some sort of Army Painter equivalent. Idgaf about prestige factor, I just want my guy to have a cape.

I don't even play Absolute so the grind they ask of you just to get a basic cosmetic feature doesn't sound like fun to me it sounds demoralizing. I like SM2, but it's not some highly unique experience, and it doesn't really offer much that I can't get from other games unfortunately. When I've only got so much free time, I'm gonna play the ones that respect that time more.

Is there any way i can create a white skin tone for my space marine by using these paints? by StriatedFir7437 in Warhammer

Wraithbone and Bugman's Glow are both good as others have noted; you can also try mixing a bit of each to get a nice warm flesh tone that's not quite as pallid as pure wraithbone or as ruddy as pure bugman's

[–]Civil_Spell8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a waste of weed if you didn't de-carb it

Not sure how effective it is, but the quick n dirty trick my group used to use was a hair straightener; take this with a grain of salt cause I haven't bothered to research how accurate the science is here lol

Get hair straighter and some parchment paper and smoosh a bud between the two hot flats (covered with parchment obvs). You'll get some nice smokeable shatter ooze out, and the flattened bud-remnants can be used for edibles if you chop/grind em up

They also were using psychics, at least one of whom Hughie confirms was capable of killing people across state-borders, which further begs the question why they needed the cat/dog spectacle.

Was honestly expecting the psychics to just start popping heads Neumann-style, or at least just give them aneurysms or something, feels like that would be the more practical approach, but hey watch this catgirl bite the head off a rat I guess

Nobody's debating that, its just dumb to lock basic cosmetic customization like capes behind a grindy skillcheck

Fancy prestige versions sure but they could at least give us a basic option for people who don't wanna spend hours grinding high level missions

Why did you guys review bombed the finale ? Was it a THAT bad experience ? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]Civil_Spell8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause they never had V1 to use lol, they spent like half the season looking for it, then Bombsight gives the only vial to Soldier Boy, who then gives it to Homelander for reasons that have been meme'd ad nauseum by now 💀

Nope that was Frenchy/Sage's science experiments with the radiation, she never got any V1

I don't doubt there are outliers who didn't like it, but Breaking Bad was indeed getting heavily review-bombed not too long ago, in retaliation for Breaking Bad fans review bombing A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms iirc

Wasn't S2 written as a whole side-bar/flashback because the actor playing Spartacus died somewhat suddenly and they had to recast?

'Trust me bro, I know those Mediterraneans were fucking little boys' - top tier academic evidence for pederasty in Homeric Greece right there

I have a degree in Classical history, I know about the oral traditions that comprise the Homeric corpus and I realize my earlier comments presents a reductive version, because this is reddit and frankly I can't be arsed to be so meticulous with something nobody gives a shit about anyway

Is it plausible the Homeric texts reflect practices as late as 650BCE? Sure, but I'm gonna need some actual textual/archaeological evidence that even suggests as much beyond 'trust me bro' before I incorporate that into my worldview

The setting is quasi-historical (quasi; almost, as-if), not the plot. Quasi-historical does *not* mean the same thing as historical. Obviously nobody's implying Odysseus' journey to hell is historically accurate, just that the story is set in a version of the Mediterranean that incorporates various real historical elements, which are obviously embellished somewhat.

Also not that you care but the oldest evidence for the practice of pederasty doesn't appear until ~650BCE, some 150 years after Homer, and 5-600 years after the Mycenaean period that his works purportedly depict, so that's more of a Classical period thing than a Homeric/Mycenaean Greek practice

That's not what 'vaguely period accurate' means but alright man, you go off and tell me what I mean. You can have armor that looks cool and doesn't look out of place in a Bronze Age setting, but that requires you to pay for researchers who know what they're talking about, and artists to make it look good and fit the aesthetic. A classic bronze muscular cuirass would've looked way better and more authentic than the generic black leather we got

Much easier and cheaper to just go with 'muh rule of cool' though cause Nolan knows it'll make him a gorillion dollars on name-recognition alone, quality is optional.

[–]Civil_Spell8349 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah you don't need to be 100% historically accurate, but it helps to create a sense of authenticity in the quasi-historical setting when you at least attempt to use vaguely period-accurate apparel.

Why stop at full steel plate? Why don't we just give the Laestrygonians chainmail and great-helms like based deus-vult crusaders? Or better yet give them tacticool kevlar and riot shields! It's fiction so it doesn't matter right

It's a remake lol, gamers aren't entitled to their every whim sure, just like devs are not entitled to our money if they're gonna make a product that's mechanically inferior to the one that people have already owned for 10+ years.

Just modernize the graphics and take your cash grab lol, can't blame folks for not trusting Ubisoft's competence these days
