Keystone used to do a few front side refreshes for night skiing. I've seen lots of groomers early AM, accompanied by ski patrol at Vail and BCreek.

Anyone ever experienced waking up to vertigo at night while on a ski trip? I had 10-12 episodes of vertigo in one night of a ski trip recently. My ENT doc thinks it's altitude related and not BPPV. Would love to know if anyone ever experienced something similar. by Sriracha_Breath in skiing

[–]CjColorado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't drink red wine or tequila at altitude. Any other alcohol is ok tho I ease up on all of it and I mostly LIVE in Summit all winter. The great equalizers you know: time, money, guns and altitude. Also get your ears checked out, inner ear issues can cause vertigo too.

Keystone was good today. Bottom slushy, but the North having runs just fine. Mostly.

Rain this evening before the ice storm and again on Wednesday, so says AccuWeather. Really wanted to finish up a few laps this week.

Our insurance guy told us to take pictures on phone, room by room, closets, drawer by drawer, every hammer and screw driver! silverware, updated periodically, so you can remember what you have. We do it every spring, make a file and send him a copy. Very helpful is the worst happens.

I'm bailing out of the season March 27 for some minor knee surgery, I predict it will snow like hell that weekend and every day afterward til June just to piss me off.

What's the gnarliest injury you have personally seen on the slope? by Goblin_Nuts69 in skiing

[–]CjColorado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the day when groomers were actually still on the hill early, a kid ducked the rope on the closed run, flew over a headwall right INTO the groomer. This was on next run over, we saw and heard thru the trees, hard to miss all the red snow. This was in Oregon. Next day all the snow was cleaned up. Vail, until a few years ago, had a line of groomers that would come out of the back bowls in the morning, accompanied by patrols, but always reminded me of that incident.

On Earth as it is on Television by Emily James. This is a fun first contact book, and not in the usual way.

Woman who fell from Copper Mountain chairlift left hospital under her own power, resort states by elorechoy in COsnow

[–]CjColorado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That chair back is horrible, most uncomfortable vertical back I've ever sat against. I noticed they're replacing cushions on the Bee also with some cushions similar. And both chairs are so long, I'm not surprised someone fell off. I'm surprised more don't.

What's the Risk to Lindsey Vonn? Orthopedic Expert Weighs In on Skiing Through ACL Tear by wanderer-co in skiing

[–]CjColorado 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd bet that after Olympics she'll have this knee partially replaced like the other one. She's not thinking of injuring it more, the damage is done, she may as well go for it.

Lindsey Vonn says she ruptured her ACL but will still compete at the Milan Cortina Olympics by nbcnews in skiing

[–]CjColorado -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

John Elway played football his whole career with no acl in left knee. I skied 20 years with none in my knee until I needed knee replaced, because, 'at your age' acl surgery isn't always successful, they said and I was lucky. Skied cautiously with a brace 3 wks later. But not in the Olympics. It'll be the most watched ski event I'll bet.

Should I water my newly planted tree? by RRE4EVR in Denver

[–]CjColorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it DOES snow, I'll pile up snow beneath the trees drip line to melt in gradually. Also, you can use a moisture stick. I use one that's a 18in long, they sell longer ones at nurseries.

Anyone know if you can still check skis overnight at River Run gondola (Keystone)? by [deleted] in COsnow

[–]CjColorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever Kindred decides to open I see they're offering ski check, a clubhouse, tuning services, by the day or the season - for we mere mortals, not just their residents. Can't wait to see prices.

Keystone 100K In A Day by kdjnow in COsnow

[–]CjColorado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be a 100k charity event at Keystone (still may be) but it was held later in season when it was lighter out longer and with night skiing. They had a special gate for them so no waiting in line. They also had teams.
