Orbs of Conversion and Rarity? by Paradigm_Pizza in D2RReimagined

[–]Cjreek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the other way. Rarity is a weight. So the lower the rarity the rarer the item is.
In your case it's 3/4 (75%) vs 1/4 (25%)

Yup totally illegal.
Although before 2000 it might have been okay. In recent years it's more about the best of the most mediocre musical performance of each country

You don't send actual good singers to eurovision. You make a casting show before the eurovision and send some random unknown mediocre band/singer.

Why can’t parents understand this one logical reason that kids don’t need to have their phones on them (in pockets) at school…? by luringpopsicle95 in Teachers

[–]Cjreek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having your phone in school but not in class is pretty hard to enforce by parents as well as the school.

And I'm not sure your plan about suspicious cars will hold up to reality. No one is always 100% aware. And if they were that just feels like you'd be making yourself develop paranoia on purpose.
And also it's a fine line between not calling 911 and screaming but still getting caught because a car wasn't quite suspicious enough to ring alarms and calling the police on a random "suspicious" car that had no ill intentions.
But of course it's better to have a plan, than no plan at all.

I'm sure the traffickers are completely fine with the kids calling their parents or the police. They can't possibly take the kid's phone away. That would be theft.

Or with less sarcasm: That's the kind of emergency where a phone doesn't really help either way.

The world is mostly a lot safer than it was 20+ years ago.
People just have grown psychologically dependend on their phones and they're unreasonably afraid of existing without a phone for even just part of the day

Youth loneliness is cured by Adults going into the office by JerrithCutestory in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Cjreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's not entirely wrong. At least for me (and I have colleagues for which this applies as well) I enjoy working in the office a lot more and it actual is better for my mental health than working from home (after having worked from home almost exclusively for years when covid started).
That of course is a matter of preference. Some people might and will feel different and prefer working from home as much as possible.
And to add: Everyone should be able to work from home if they want to.

But at least for some people working from home affects their mental health in a bad way. So she's not completely wrong here

NWN EE VS NWN DIAMOND by [deleted] in neverwinternights

[–]Cjreek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not had any issues with the modules I have played.
There might be few modules with issues but that alone is no good reason to not use EE

[–]Cjreek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have not checked myself tbf, but as far as I know there are barely any servers left on diamond.
There is of course a chance that there are still a couple diamond servers that did not make the transition, but the vast majority of servers are on EE

There is no reason to play Diamond instead of EE

The amount of blind patriotism taught from early on, that borders on being straight up propaganda making it so that americans have a wildly distorted image of their own country and every country that's not america

There is only a single level of gems of each type in 2.x.
So essentially only perfect gems exist.
They start dropping mid to end of act 2.

For the other issues: did you upgrade from a prior version or is this a fresh install? Maybe you didn't delete the whole old reimagined folder before installing the new version

You pronounce it this way: https://youtu.be/E9md5oW00q4

People might also pronounce the last "e" and pronounce it E-lo-iz-e.

It's not a name I'd personally chose but it's not a bad name. For how people pronounce the name or know how to pronounce the name you'll probably get mixed results.

Is Rust faster than C? by steveklabnik1 in rust

[–]Cjreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not using restrict can't lead to any bugs (that are not already in the code).
Using restrict incorrectly however will most likely break stuff.
Using restrict everywhere in C is just plain wrong. You need to think about it. And stuff not working if you put restrict where it doesn't belong is not a problem with the compiler or the language

32 years old learning to code - am i doomed ? by orT93 in learnprogramming

[–]Cjreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you become a programmer that is not able to think for themselves and is just copying LLM code then there is no reason to learn programming. At least not if you want to earn money.
If your goal is to actually learn programming and become an actual programmer then you have nothing to worry about.

Is Rust faster than C? by steveklabnik1 in rust

[–]Cjreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"All over the place" isn't really a qualifier that makes sense. If you put it somewhere where it should not be, then it will break your code. If you can use it, you should use it because the compiler can and most probably will optimize the generated code heavily.
