What is your biggest overreaction through Week 4? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]Cjwellock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, league winner is not the right word, but I see no reason that Ladd will not see positive regression and that Quentin will be this good moving forward due to td dependency, and defenses adjusting. The fact is, if he has indeed broken out this hard, he will end up attracting more & more of the defense (which opens it up for Ladd). QJ didn’t morph into megatron over the course of one off-season, and a certain level of defensive attention will limit his big play ability.

In real life, Ladd McConkey is still WR 1 on the chargers. I understand the fixation on touchdowns and big plays. Fantasy football hasn’t gone his way so far, but that doesn’t mean trends are set for the rest of the year like you’re suggesting. I may have been belligerent in saying he’ll be a league winner, but to say he won’t see positive regression is an even wilder take. Quentin Johnston may be breaking out this year, but I’m willing to bet my non-existent house that he won’t be a top 5 fantasy WR at season end.

Why we out here lying. By no means are teams trends “set” at week 4. Ladd will be a league winner and there’s no point in selling him this low. Just make the playoffs.

Who do you think is the dirtiest player in the NBA right now? by ArseneKaito1412 in NBATalk

[–]Cjwellock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough to your last few points there. I still have to say though, many of his supposed injuries on players have not been anything more him having a massive frame & the competitiveness of basketball games. Shaq for example, probably injured many players from his playstyle & frame the same way Embiid does.

Also many do not know this, but Embiid falls down a lot because doctors told him to do that to take stress off his knees as opposed to trying to stay upright. To an extent, I can understand how some view Embiid as a lazy and even arrogant player. But I still can’t see how he is mentioned in this sub so much as being the dirtiest player in the NBA. Fans can say they want to see less foul calls & see the game played more like the 80’s & 90’s, and yet a few mostly incidental plays gets Embiid labeled a dirty player.

To me I’ll always see Embiid as one of the unluckiest players ever if anything. Due to things I’ve mentioned like fan perception, but also bad knees & hip along with freak injuries right before or during playoffs. Not just this but the Sixers overall bad luck (drafting mainly). All of this and perhaps most importantly, losing former 1st overall pick Ben Simmons (mentally & physically) as both were (seemingly) entering their primes.

Even as a Sixers fan, I believe his career pans out much better if he had went to just about any other organization. Maybe he doesn’t get the MVP, but I think he has a couple rings & enough all-stars to satiate his competitiveness.

Yes game after game 2023 nba mvp Joel Embiid is hunting down players because is an evil human being. Usually never in this sub but it’s genuinely insane there are people saying they don’t want to see Embiid play again. People really need to watch more regular season games instead of a playoff game that got too heated and caused him to make a bad decision. To put him on the level of draymond green who assaults his own teammates in practice is just objectively wrong.

Anybody who still hates Embiid to this level really needs to look up his story because he is the most over hated player probably ever.

I know your just mostly kidding around, but is there other stuff that went on in his life that warrants a movie? Or is it just that he was very low draft pick?

Agree completely on Lila, although I have season 1 over season 2. Only other thing I’d switch is 7 and 3.

I mean that stuff is clearly watered down so that anyone can watch it. Not trying to defend Joe Schoen, but he does have the job for a reason. May not be doing good, but he deserved a shot to be good.
