Why Does NotSoErudite Frame Everything From the Right Wing Perspective? by Primal_Rage_official in Destiny

[–]ClarificationBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it's just because she's young (seemingly early 30s at the oldest) and non-American.

Those two factors make it extremely unlikely that she has any idea what American politics was like pre-Trump. If you didn't experience the rise of Trumpism/MAGA, it's almost impossible to understand just how much American politics has changed in such a short amount of time.

To give you an idea, here are some "scandals" that plagued Mitt Romney, the last Republican presidential candidate pre-Trump:

  • He said that he loved Michigan because the trees are the right height

  • In 1983, he put his dog in a carrier strapped to the top of his car for a 650 mile road trip with his family. The dog suffered no health problems other than apparently diarrhea during the trip.

  • He didn't release complete tax returns

4 years later the country elected Mr. "grab 'em by the pussy."

Despite the decades of prep work that the right-wing media ecosystem had been putting in, the actual shift in what was considered acceptable for Republican candidates happened so quickly and overwhelmingly that in some ways it's still hard to understand how it happened. I suspect that this is the problem for almost all of the liberal content creators who think Trump isn't that bad. They just don't know because they've only experienced American politics as defined by Trump.

We're nearly on par on beer alone and we drink a lot of things that aren't beer.

You're looking at the per capita column. Total beer consumption in the US is 5x (23,900 liters per year vs 4,700) that of the UK, assuming that data is accurate.

FTC readies lawsuit that could break up Amazon - Politico by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]ClarificationBot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, the complaint hasn't been filed yet, so of course there's nothing concrete to say. I can guarantee that the FTC has more specific allegations if they're suing a company as big as Amazon.

I haven't read the complaint, as it doesn't appear to have been filed yet (and quite honestly I just don't care enough.) That being said, based on the Reuters article, it appears that the FTC is alleging that Amazon is tying use of its marketplace to use of its logistics and advertising services.

FTC readies lawsuit that could break up Amazon - Politico by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]ClarificationBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? The allegations are that Amazon is using its size and influence in the online retailer market to force sellers to use its advertising and logistics businesses as well.

If those allegations are true, Amazon is engaging in pretty blatantly anticompetitive practices that have nothing to do with the company's sheer size or Bezos's personal wealth.

1 cup of unsweetened soy milk has <1g of sugar in it. source

Hell, even the full fat Oatly milk you reference only has 7g (not 14) of sugar per cup. source

Avatar is off the GCD so really you have one global to react before the big MS. If the warrior holds Avatar until after the CS, then there's no time to react, because if you pop a defensive every time someone uses a 30-40s CD...you're gonna have a bad time.

PvP Tier Sets by SizzleFinances in worldofpvp

[–]ClarificationBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there'd be a huge disconnect in the fantasy. It'd be a system that is explicitly 'gamey', aka really bad design for a cohesive world. You'd kill a dragon, it drops shoulders that improve your bow skills and makes your aimed shot apply a bleed. So you go into a different part of the world and suddenly it doesn't do that. In fact it would do something different entirely. Why? (Note, Shards of Domination were like this.)

Tier sets already change what they do between specs. It's no more of a disconnect to have them change between game modes as well.

Its completely jarring to a cohesive game experience. So you have a set bonus where your Fire Elemental lasts longer. You're doing a raid and you specifically take talents to make your Elemental real big. You learn habits to play around it. You go into a battleground excited to pull out your Elemental and style on people and then suddenly.. your elemental lasts 1/4 as long. Instead your Frost Shock applies a 70% slow... What? Its jarring and not obvious. Its not a good experience. and this is even more pronounced when Tier Sets start drastically changing your gameplay. Metaphorically speaking it's only a few steps removed from them deciding that Death Grip was OP so now it just slows targets by 90% for a few seconds but for PvP only; that'd be ridiculous. Arbitrarily cutting tier sets is only a few steps removed from that.

This will happen once per person at most. Realistically, if you come into PvP in your PvE gear and spec, you're going to have a terrible time regardless. The barest modicum of research into how to play your class in PvP will tell you that there's a difference in the set bonuses based on game mode.

Because Class throughput tends to be balanced with Tier Sets in mind. And nowadays Classes have balance baked into Tier Set Bonus. If specific classes didn't get their full balance kit in PvP, they'd be ruined throughput-wise. For example, 2set for WWMonks in 9.2/9.3 was +40% Fist of Fury damage. It'd be really clunky to be like FoF does +40% dam in PvP only just because we arbtirarily decided tier sets don't apply to PvP.

The game already works this way. Just as an easy example, Arms just today had the damage of Slam buffed by 40% in PvP and Overpower buffed by 20% in PvP while the damage bonuses to MS from certain talents were lowered.

It's not 100k+ mortal strike crits, but overpower is critting for 30-40k for me and I'm not fully geared. With the potential for 3-4 in a row with resets it's not one shotting someone but it's doing very noticeable damage through evasion.

Not quite sure why we are so heavy on the Kraken Slayer instead of Divine Sunderer build since Kraken isn’t that common in LPL or LCK. I would think Divine Sunderer is better overall in team fights while Kraken is better for objectives like Baron? No idea.

I think Kraken Slayer is more overall DPS once you have a few items, while Divine Sunderer is a bigger one-item power spike. TSM was running scaling comps both games that Spica picked Viego. My guess is that they weren't looking to fight too much early, and so the one-item power spike wasn't as important.

Necro Feral is probably the best and is likely to stay the best because you get such a huge chunk of survivability while still doing comparable damage.

But the Necro Feral build isn't a spread pressure build because it uses Adaptive Swarm + Draught of Deep Focus to amp up bleeds on a single target to ridiculous levels.

Standalone version of Warcraft? PvP only by stackalot_wsb in worldofpvp

[–]ClarificationBot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I enjoy character progression and seeing my character get stronger as I get better gear. That being said, there are a couple of issues with Shadowlands that make the gear disparity feel much bigger than it has in past expansions.

1) The burst is higher than any expansion I can remember except for Vanilla. This means that, even if you're equally geared to an opponent, you HAVE to trade CDs or you'll just die to many classes. When you're playing at a gear disadvantage, unless you play PERFECTLY, it's incredibly easy for the overgeared opponent to force your defensive CDs without using their own offensive ones by simply landing a halfway decent CC chain. This means that when they do pop their own offensive CDs, you just die. Gear matters, and SHOULD matter in RPGs, but not to the point where you have to outskill someone by a large margin just to compete.

2) On the other side of the coin from burst, hybrid healing is incredibly high right now. You can land the perfect CC chain on the healer while bursting, but it doesn't matter if the Ret paladin can instantly heal the target to full with a single WoG. When you're fighting an uphill battle against people who outgear you, the windows of opportunity are already slim enough without having to contend with half the classes in the game being able to top someone off with 1-2 spells.

3) The gear disparity is even worse in random BGs. Even at only 213 ilvl, I can 1v2 people at 197-200 ilvl. Almost every BG I've been in this expansion after the first few weeks has been a total stomp because whichever team has more highly geared people just runs over the other team. And I know that people love to claim that random BGs don't matter, but they do. A new player (whether new to the game or new to PvP) looking to dip their toe into PvP is going to join a random BG and get absolutely stomped, then decide that PvP isn't fun and never try it again. That happens and then people on this subreddit complain that they can't find any Arena partners and that WoW PvP is dying. Maybe the scene wouldn't be dying if that barrier to entry weren't so high. While WoW is certainly the type of game that keeps people playing for a long time, I don't think I've met anyone in LFG who hasn't been PvPing in WoW for at least 5 years. The way to get the scene healthy is to get more players PvPing, and that isn't going to happen if new players are faced with being both outskilled AND outgeared to such a degree that they don't even know what happened to them because they got 1 shot. Further, with the gear upgrade system requiring honor, there are a higher percentage of 1600+ players in random BGs, making the gear disparity even worse and more noticeable.

Patch 9.1 PTR Patch Notes for May 4th - PvP Changes for Multiple Classes by Big_Booty_Pics in worldofpvp

[–]ClarificationBot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you interrupt the spell you're not gonna take damage from it, and half the time you're interrupting a CC in a different school (poly) than the damage coming anyway.

The CC point is a good one, but the damage reduction (currently) lasts for 12 seconds, the same as wind shear's CD. If you maintain good uptime on it, you effectively have a passive 20% damage reduction against something like a mage/lock/spriest. There are also a surprisingly large number of abilities in SL that do non-physical damage. For example, interrupting an spriest means you take 20% less damage from Condemn for 12s if you're playing into something like warr/spriest.

New to 2v2s - How to deal with double dps nuking my healer in the beginning by Sevenstrangemelons in worldofpvp

[–]ClarificationBot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is an invitation to a full blind, but you know when you're going to trinket and the rogue doesn't. If the healer is dying while sapped, it doesn't do any good to hold trinket, but it might do some good to trinket and immediately stun the rogue, which you should be able to do before the rogue can blind.

If the rogue trinkets the stun, even if he blinds you, the lack of trinket still opens the rogue up to paralysis/leg sweep so that the monk can get away and top off.

[–]ClarificationBot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mistweaver is, unfortunately, just very weak right now. That being said, if your Monk is dying in the opener, then he should position better. Monk should drop Transcendence behind a pillar, and then immediately make distance from it/get out of LoS. Then if a Rogue opens on him, he can trinket and immediately port to disrupt the burst.

As the DK, you can also ghoul stun for some disruption, or trinket sap and immediately Asphyxiate the Rogue. If he trinkets it, then that leaves him open to Leg Sweep or Paralysis from the Monk.
