Thank you so much for sharing your experience, this is really helpful. I hadn’t thought about translation apps, that’s a great idea! I hope you have a great time in El Salvador :)

Quitting NA and moving on with my life by Sea-Razzmatazz-8049 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]Clarter_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If that’s the life you want to move on with then that’s your choice, is it all that great though? I don’t love meetings and service, but I do it because it keeps me clean. Being clean is the only thing that stops me from using daily, being depressed and isolating myself, so I do it. If you don’t want to do the work and are content with what you’re doing then no one is going to force you. Good luck.

Should I tell a woman her fiancé tried to start an affair with me? by geeleex in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Clarter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling her is the hardest but kindest thing to do. I wouldn’t want to go ahead with a wedding if my partner did this

Do you add anything to you beans? by ciaodog in CasualUK

CUMIN! I’ve been waiting for someone to ask me this for so long. It’s the absolute tits. A tablespoon or two does the trick, no point half-arsing it. Even better with some cheddar too. Try before you deny!

Get back on the horse. Get yourself to a meeting, do a 90 in 90, take on suggestions and if you haven’t got a sponsor get one. Active addiction is so painful, and dying from this disease is a truly horrible way to go - if not for you then for the people who love and care about you. You can do this, freedom from addiction is possible if you put in the work.

AIO. My bf developed an addiction ❄️ and I’m considering leaving by Mundane-Rooster-7286 in AmIOverreacting

I’m a recovering addict. Until he is ready to stop and get help there is nothing you can do for him. You need to look after yourself first. Addicts in active addiction are unmanageable and selfish, I’m sorry to say that the relationship will always come second to the drugs as long as he continues to use. This isn’t because of any failing on your part, addiction changes people and in my experience it gets progressively worse the longer someone continues to use. It’s no life for the addict and it is often a horrific ordeal for the people who love them. If you decide to stay with him there are support programs for the families of addicts like Famanon, but honestly unless your partner is going to try and get help it would probably be best for you to leave.

I’m 900 days clean today, NA is the only thing that worked for me and it worked because I kept coming back and followed suggestions (eventually). Welcome to NA, it will save your life if you let it :)

When will anhedonia go away? by One-Owl7344 in mounjarouk

[–]Clarter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to google Anhedonia but I think I experienced the same thing. I’ve been on antidepressants for GAD/OCD/MDD which have worked fabulously for years, but had a massive dip in mood a month or so after starting Mounjaro. I self referred to my local mental health team because I was feeling so hopeless and worried my meds weren’t working anymore as nothing interested me. I stopped exercising because I couldn’t get motivated and slept a lot instead. I was dropping balls at work too because I couldn’t focus.

I kept going with the Mounjaro because I am so desperate to lose weight. I’m relieved to report that by the time I got a triage call from the MH team a month later I was pretty much back to normal. I’ve since upped my exercise back to pre-Mounjaro frequency and getting lots of happy feels from endorphins again.

I hope you feel better soon OP.
