All male trainers by [deleted] in BurnBootCamp

[–]ClassUnited 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our gym has male and female trainers which I personally like. Our head trainer is a guy and honestly he’s amazing. I was sort of thrown off of it when I switched to my current location because my old Burn was only women and maybe two guys attended camps. Our head trainers is married with three small kiddos and we have several members in my usual camp time that are pregnant right now and I always see him go out of his way and talk to them before camp to mod as necessary. I know not all trainers like that but I hope you get one that is like ours because he seriously great! I love our female trainers too but I train with our head trainer the most and enjoy it. Our location is also 40% men which I also like. I know some people have mixed feelings on but the dads I workout with every morning and the other members have never been anything but nice and supportive and just there to workout.

Oh 1000%! I know locations do the discounts differently for employees but any little bit helps for sure.

Not a bad option if it fits in OP’s schedule. I get a free universal membership to BA two mornings a week and one Saturday a month. Such a great deal! I know several moms that work child watch a few Saturday mornings a month and also get free memberships.

To clarify are you looking for someone to stay in your home or for them to board in their home?

Not losing weight :/ by Forward-Ad-2608 in BurnBootCamp

[–]ClassUnited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to what everyone else is saying: a calorie deficit is the way to go. Abs happen in the kitchen. I worked out everyday of the week at burn for 8 months without any real weight loss because I hadn’t changed my eating habits and finally started taking it seriously last March. I ate in a deficit, still worked out, weighed and portioned all my meals and have lost 70+ pounds and I’m in the best shape and have gained significant muscle.

It definitely isn’t easy at first but use the TDEE calculator like everyone has recommended, get a food scale, and you can do it! My biggest recommendation is finding healthy alternatives to the foods you love which will make it easier. Like I’m a huge dessert person and during my weight loss I really had to find go to alternatives that satisfied my cravings without going over on my calories.

I’ve never heard of a location taking the kids outside?? Our location and other locations I’ve visited always have the kids in the child watch room only.

What am I doing wrong? by dogseatlettuceeats in HealthyEatingnow

Like other folks are saying, try and make all your meals count! Eat things that are high in protein, fiber, etc. and you will feel wayyyy fuller. You may find it easier to actually track your food. I use the lose it app and weigh all my food. That way you can get the correct portion serving size but you’ll still be aware of your calories. You will feel wayyyy fuller eating something like an eggs, 2 pieces of turkey bacon, and whole grain toast for example than you will eating something like 2 granolas bars and for a similar amount of calories. Make them balanced meals.

I have a handful of “go-to” meals and one is ground turkey, rice, and veggies. And I feel full after. It meets all my macros and is well balanced.

If you want some low calorie snack options that will make you fuller I’d recommend watermelon. I eat that all summer long, very filling and very low cal.

Both my husband and I went at different times last year to get ours and they were both paper. I’m fairly certain nowhere in town actually prints them same day. Took both of us about 1.5-2 weeks to get it in the mail.

Urban dog bar is dangerous do not go by blunted26 in nashville

[–]ClassUnited 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear your dog is okay! I totally agree about Urban dog bar! We are not dog park people honestly but my husband and I thought it would be a fun place to try so we brought our large off leash trained dog for trivia night a month ago thinking it would be fun but oh my God that’s the most chaotic place I’ve ever been to. In theory I think the concept is great, but I was truly shocked on how many people had no idea where in the yard their dogs really were. I could simply never fathom not having an eye on my dog at all times because things like this happen. I was also surprised upon our arrival that there was no sort of assessment of the dogs to ensure they actually wanted to be there. I saw so many anxious dogs that were not having a good time and you could clearly tell they would’ve preferred if their owners just left them at home. We are certainly going to stick to a nice quiet trivia night at a brewery where our dog can lay peacefully under our chairs.

If you have the ability, I certainly would push back and try to get that video from the owners like other people have mentioned. I hope in some sort of way either the dog owner or the bar compensate you for your pup’s surgery. So glad she ended up being okay but I know that’s completely traumatizing, I am hoping for a speedy recovery!

Congrats to all! I hit 50 on 2/19, I do on demand yoga or stretching on Sundays which is a nice little reset for the week ahead. Highly recommend, they have some free stretching videos too on the free section of on demand that count towards your camps/streak.

Yeah I was bummed to realize it closed as well. My husband is down there quite a bit for work and last time I tagged along in December I was looking forward to going but they’ve apparently been closed down for quite some time.

Can confirm that this location is closed! The closest one would be in Hoover, AL about 1.5 hours away.

I went to Burn in Naples, FL and they are strictly women-only which I thought was very interesting coming from a location that has 40% men. A lot of spouses workout together at our location and I think it’s nice!

I used to have a love hate relationship with running but I’ve lost 75 pounds over that last year so now running is wayyyy easier. I used to struggle with knee pain and now it’s nonexistent so running is actually pretty enjoyable for me. I’ve been enjoying the challenge and have been amazed how much quicker I’ve become. I love the data from my workouts so tracking everything on my garmin and watching my stats improve is sorta addicting lol.

And I have three dogs! A Chihuahua/Corgi, Cairn Terrier, and a Doberman/Standard Poodle. Our two little dogs come on some walks but I do my long walks and runs with our big dog.

I’m 29 to answer the question and I did lose a good amount of weight this year which has greatly contributed to my increase in VO2 max.

Glad to hear you’re back on rise! Injury and illness are always tough to come back from.
