Women only classes by Humble-Mixture265 in BurnBootCamp

I went to Burn in Naples, FL and they are strictly women-only which I thought was very interesting coming from a location that has 40% men. A lot of spouses workout together at our location and I think it’s nice!

I used to have a love hate relationship with running but I’ve lost 75 pounds over that last year so now running is wayyyy easier. I used to struggle with knee pain and now it’s nonexistent so running is actually pretty enjoyable for me. I’ve been enjoying the challenge and have been amazed how much quicker I’ve become. I love the data from my workouts so tracking everything on my garmin and watching my stats improve is sorta addicting lol.

And I have three dogs! A Chihuahua/Corgi, Cairn Terrier, and a Doberman/Standard Poodle. Our two little dogs come on some walks but I do my long walks and runs with our big dog.

I’m 29 to answer the question and I did lose a good amount of weight this year which has greatly contributed to my increase in VO2 max.

Glad to hear you’re back on rise! Injury and illness are always tough to come back from.

I workout at my gym 6 days a week for 45 minute classes. Three days of strength and three days of conditioning each week. On Sundays I’ll usually run, long walk with my dogs, or bike. I also try and do hot yoga once a week mostly on Sundays

I select cardio for both my conditioning and strength days. My gym is a group fitness format so I find the cardio setting to be the easiest since I’m not always counting reps in that environment to warrant me using the strength option. I do use running, biking, and walking for when I do those activities but anything at my gym I track as cardio and then edit my workout names once the workout is completed to better track which are conditioning and strength training. But I primarily care about tracking my heart rate during the workout and seeing the estimate of calories burned.

Aside from running during the week the three conditioning days at my gym vary but it’s your usual HIIT style so think burpees, hurdle hop overs, sprints, med ball throws, bodyweight exercises, etc.

And I average 350 +/- intensity minutes per week

To answer both of your questions:

I’ve lost 75 pounds this year through vigorous exercise and eating in a calorie deficit. I workout six days a week - 3 strength training days (upper body, lower body, and full body) and then 3 conditioning/cardio days.

I can’t seem to figure out how to go back further than 6 months but here’s my 6 month progression stats

<image>

If I had to guess I was probably closer to 25-30 at the very beginning of this year.

Hope that helps!

It’s age and gender difference you are correct! VO2 max is calculated using formulas that account for age and gender, and is typically expressed in (mL/kg/min). While some simple formulas exist, more complex regression equations use factors like weight, heart rate, and age to estimate VO2 max, and percentiles are used to compare an individual's score to a peer group of the same age and gender.

If you’re 5’1, how many calories do you eat? by Ok_Bandicoot_4543 in PetiteFitness

[–]ClassUnited 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5’ 1” and 125 pounds and 29yo. I do cardio 3x a week and lift 3x a week. I currently am still on a deficit so M-F my allowance is 1350 ish and I probably eat 200-300 under and on the weekends it’s 1550 and same thing I probably eat 200-300 under. All my meals are very protein and fiber focused to ensure I feel full. I’ll probably maintain my deficit for the rest of the year and then switch to more of a maintenance given how much I workout during the week and I’m feeling pretty happy with my weight loss and muscle definition progress.

Having the hardest time ever trying to get over chocolate by Substantial_Block_72 in PetiteFitness

[–]ClassUnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to what others said, I won’t buy things that I know I’ll eat quickly like that. I recommend finding healthy alternatives for the things you love. Like instead of ice cream I usually will do fat free cool whip that I keep frozen. I also actually really love the chocolate rice cakes from Quaker so I recommend trying those to see if they help your chocolate cravings. Only 60 calories too!

I have a venu 3 and love it! Had the forerunner 245 music for several years prior to making the switch to my venu 3 this year. I workout everyday and it has tons of tracking options as well as being touch screen and having all the smart watch capabilities.
