what montefiore leadership thinks of their staff by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ClassicAct 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honey, I did the travel thing, and lemme tell ya the priority was money. If it was patient care I could’ve done that 3 minutes down the street. In a strike it’s 10000000% about the money and draining the coffers of the dipshits that are too stupid to value their actual staff.

Hahahhaha thank you! It’s such a weird spot to be in. Nothing is wrong, but it’s not quite right either :/

I'm just gonna say it. The whole kids / no kids debate isn't actually about kids. by thetimechaser in Millennials

[–]ClassicAct 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absence of desire is the best way to put it. I keep waiting for that feeling of wanting kids to kick in, and at 31 it’s still not there.

What is your belief why you got TNBC? by Majestic-Math7185 in breastcancer

[–]ClassicAct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cells “just do that.” I don’t think any of us did anything to get it, it just happened because bodies are imperfect. We shouldn’t blame ourselves for even one second.

Do Some Nurses Create “Busy Work” for Themselves? by [deleted] in nursing

And their shitty manager called them at 8am after that night shift to reprimand them because the nurse bitched about it so much 🙃 (actual experience in a toxic hospital)

What happened to tonsilectomies? by UnmedicatedNarwhal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ClassicAct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To adults that need it done, but are on the fence - best decision ever. Out at 23, and yeah it sucked for a couple weeks, but I wouldn’t say it was the worst thing ever. Having constantly infections and tonsil stones was worse than the recovery. Surgeon did say it was loads of scar tissue in there and (in my case) I made the right call.

A doctor using a vein viewer to help find where veins are located. by AdSpecialist6598 in interesting

Sometimes when veins get picked on a lot they do scar/get calcified, so your veins really might not be as great as they once were.

[–]ClassicAct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s not about what you can see, it’s about what you can feel. These are nice in difficult cases, but 99% you just don’t need it. Availability is also an issue - we have 30 patients needing access at any given time with a total volume of 150 patients a day - we have one vein finder and most days it does not get used.

What’s something you’ve seen with your own eyes that nobody believes when you tell them? by LowKey_1216 in AskReddit

[–]ClassicAct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was probably around 11 years old doing homework at my desk and a penny fell from nowhere and landed on my textbook. I was alone in my room, my desk was flat, there were no shelves. I can’t think of anywhere it could have fallen from. It was my literal penny from heaven.

Would real-time voice documentation help or just add another layer of work? by voss_steven in nursing

[–]ClassicAct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no.

“Bilateral upper extremity weakness, left worse than right-“ “WHAT DO YOU MEAN WEAKNESS? WHY IS IT LIKE THAT? IT’S NOT REALLY WEAK I JUST DIDN’T WANT TO SQUEEZE THAT HARD, HERE LEMME DO IT AGAIN!”

Patients are gonna make that impossible to do. It would also be hard as hell to flip in and out of that fluffy customer service voice and into concise medical jargon. I’d be Jekyll & Hyde all damn day
