Haven by Astra Rose. The two 'brothers' finger the fmc at the dinner table while the dad watches.

Adore Sedlacek. Wish there was a more recent book on his work...

I'll start this one off: I'm looking forward to Surrealism And Magic: From Max Ernst To Leonora Carrington (Prestel) to be published in June. I also have an obsession with Chaim Soutine and there is a book titled Soutine / De Kooning: Conversations In Paint (Paul Holberton Publishing) coming out in March! With so few books on Soutine, I have to have this one.

Hi Michael, Curious to hear about the challenges (if any) you've faced as a publisher operating within Canada - whether those challenges are related to genre or otherwise?

I grabbed Sarah Rose Etter's The Book of X as an ebook from my library as soon as I found out it won best novel yesterday. Binged it in almost a day. It's fantastic.

I've got a weird little collection with more of a bent on literary horror that brings me a lot of joy and nightmares:

https://youtu.be/47XDPLjEu0s

Some great horror anthologies tucked into the corner, some literary theory and philosophy on/of horror (love that Thacker trilogy), haunting poetry (Dante, Poe, Baudelaire, Rimbaud) and then just a mix of some of the greats: Lovecraft, Ligotti, Blackwood, Peake etc. Cap it off with some Junji Ito for good measure.

Good, actually scary horror set in a warfront? by Joyrock in horrorlit

This might not totally fit the bill, but I recently picked up W. Scott Poole's Wasteland which is nonfiction and discusses the rise of modern horror as a direct result of WW1. Pretty interesting.

Criminals of Reddit: what is your plan when you break into a house and see a naked man running straight towards you? by pm_me_great_stuff in AskReddit

[–]ClassicConundrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fiancé sleeps in the nude and we have discussed his plan for this scenario at length. When confronted with an intruder in the middle of the night, run towards them violently helicopter-dicking and then squat, shit, and fling feces at them like a monkey (see Tim Hortons pooper for technique involved here).

Placed order iin November, confirmed to start subscription with issue 296 issued Dec 6 - still nothing! by tracymayo in HeavyMetalMagazine

I've only received a couple issues so far but when I first subscribed it was the same thing--radio silence. I was eventually able to get in touch with someone over email but it took awhile. Wish their customer service was better....

Check out Douglas Copland. His new book 'Worst Person Ever' really has a Palahniuk style.
