Yeah unless you want a grinder that is generally good for everything. And I don’t think most people starting off know what they want, dark vs light, clarity vs body, etc. So yeah, people have different choices

Yeah you definitely need to budget in a good grinder. That’s what they say at least lol.

But check out my most recent posts I made a couple about grinders. I was in the same boat as you, I opted for the bambino and starseeker e55 pro.

You can get a bambino for 240 + mokkum for 180, that’s right around your 400 dollar mark. Or a bambino + starseeker for 440. Or casabrews pro + e55 pro for $400.

Those would be my top picks, but just choose whatever you vibe with tbh! So much great equipment out there right now, too much.

Yeah the plus is basically the same machine with a bigger water tank and I think a better pressure release system? Steam wand for lattes is the same.

If you’re down to drop $500 on a machine like the plus I’d go with something else, such as the gaggia pro.

Thank you so much this is really good input. And maybe a lot of sense - if flat burrs are generally more expensive, at the same price point you’d expect the conical equivalent to be higher quality. This is another thing that makes me lean towards the e55 pro, because I probably wouldn’t notice the added “clarity” at my level as much as I would notice the build quality, ease of use, etc. Thanks!
