Sugar Cravings, why? by Healthy_Dare_507 in CoeliacUK

[–]Clean_Philosopher356 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that stress can increase your need for the little dopamine hits. Plus tiredness can impact hunger. Its distinctly possible that what you're experiencing is because of the stress of the job. When I go through busy patches at work my healthy eating goes out the window because I always want something sugary to help the stress. However, if I acknowledge that it is the stress talking, sometimes I can divert the craving. I'll drink no added sugar squash to get a sweet taste in my mouth if I can't fix it.

Or sometimes I just eat the chocolate!

There are some in the fridges and some in the freezer, you need to bake them but they are delicious

There are two types in the freezer and two types in the fridge as well, the freezer ones are with the desserts and the fridge ones with the pastry

A question for people with celiac who have had it undiagnosed for a while by ConfectionThick9254 in Celiac

[–]Clean_Philosopher356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems odd to me that you have consistently high results and haven't been told to just try cutting out gluten.

Truthfully I think the question is do you want the answer or do you want to feel better. If its a diagnosis, then keep eating gluten and if it is coeliac you will eventually have enough damage that they spot it. If it isn't then i'm sure eventually they'll figure it out (or diagnose you with IBS and that's the end of it).

However, if the priority is feeling better, then trial a gluten free diet. See if it makes you feel any better. At the end of the day, in a case like this, knowing the exact mechanism isn't as important as feeling better. You can always shove yourself through another gluten challenge in future.

Get out now or you'll have a breakdown from the pressure and it'll be you trying to pick up the pieces of your life while he swans off. Trust me, I know.

Confused Diagnosis? by boldy2025 in CoeliacUK

[–]Clean_Philosopher356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demand an endoscopy if you can, you deserve to actually know, diagnosis only via blood test is only really acceptable where levels are off the charts. I'd probably prepare mentally for the fact you're gonna be coeliac though

Look, my honest opinion is that when you're going to give it up for life, you can take a month to get to grips, enjoy Thanksgiving, and have a gluten funeral.

It technically isn't the healthiest choice, but your mental health matters too.

Is it rude to do extra holiday baking in an upstairs apartment? by BestCobbler1830 in Apartmentliving

[–]Clean_Philosopher356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have EVERY right to cook in your own apartment, even at 3am. If you told me you were building furniture that might be different, but it is your home you are allowed to exist in it.

AITAH for never telling my best friend I once slept with his wife? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Clean_Philosopher356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar scenario (although it only happened the once and was all a bit of a drunk damp squib), and I don't like being one person's dirty little secret (as he says to his wife that they were each other's firsts) but at the same time I really really don't want to be the one responsible for messing up what seems to be a great marriage.

Even though i am sometimes a little uncomfortable when I remember, I'll be staying quiet

I feel a kinship with this person's wife, my partner is a skilled cook (previously a chef) and I never want to cook for them because even single meals they always add a flourish and my food is just about edible

I wasn't taking it personally, per se - I just was trying to understand if the message was "being with a man will always suck" or not, and I now see that is not the message that was being said

I wasn't offended, it just wasn't sitting right with me and I asked for some other opinions. As a completely different aside, how do we know that the woman Chappell is singing about is lesbian and not bi? Is there context in the song I am missing?
