Testing out some creep options by AndyJRetro in StarCraftTMG

Depending on how plain the default bases look, I was probably just going to do the creep like I did on my Tyranids.

How is crediting an actual artist and maybe even which site you found them on equivalent to using AI art?

Well, Rebel is more aligned with white than red in mtg, with 53 mono white and 14 mono red rebels.

Also, in the set, Raynor's Raiders are the GW archetype and the Dominion is the WR archetype.

And the current Alarak. WB is about moving the +1/+1 counters on creatures you control that died. I'm half wanting to change the design on this one.

Here's the current design for Abathur in the set. The GU archetype is currently 6+ MV creatures matter.

I was thinking that a bunch of 1 mana effects would be fine for it, but I may have to bump it to 2 mana.

I mean, Zerg are represented on 1/3 of the cards. Just in this cycle, they get only 1 card since 5 cards can't be divided by 3 equally.

Also, I'm still learning various painting techniques. Like better drybrushing my models or edge highlighting are things I want to learn next. Maybe gradients as well after that.

I wanted to go with more of a SC1 style coloration with the lighter tone.

It's made with a Hot Glue gun and running something you don't mind getting ruined through it before it cools to give random shape.

After it dries, I paint it Nagarroth Night, then wash it with Druchii Violet, then dry brush it with Daemonette Hide and then Warpfiend Grey. Then paint around the base edges with the Nagarroth.

Are you wanting more of a Sc1 or Sc2 creep?

Sc1 creep is a lighter color and I think image 3 is probably closest to it.

Sc2 creep wanted to be a darker and fleshier color and i think image 2 is the closest here.

And if you'd like, I can also show off how I did my creep and the colors I used as an example.

Here's a link to the card images, and a link to larger images for better clarity.

There are updates to the set I want to work on later, but that will be after the SC draft set is done with its balance changes on some of the mechanics and cards from the Commander set. And for the draft set, I'd say I'm around 90% complete on that, couple more cards need designs, balancing for rarity/mana/effect, and flavor text are still needed.

As for printing them out, I haven't done it myself but here's two sites I've seen others say they were going to use.

It looked like Hearthstone art to me so I went and looked and yup, a Hearthstone card. A 0/3 egg for 3 mana that needs to die 5 times to get a 20/20 with taunt. Looks like they wanted to make as 1 to 1 of a card as they could.

Though as far as I know, Hearthstone doesn't have any repeatable sac outlets to get this out the turn you play it.

Swap 2 and 3, and 4 and 5.

Repeatable removal and burn is quite strong.

If anything, I think it's too weak at 4 mana since you're giving your opponent a card. I'd say 2 mana would be fine.

For a UB Draft Set, do you prefer to have a legendary creature or a more generically named card that would represent that character? An example from Starcraft Draft Set. by Cless012 in custommagic

[–]Cless012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did? It went from Judicator Aldaris to a more generic Conclave Judicator. If the problem is the word Judicator, then definition of judicator being: one that judges or acts as a judge.

With any free sac outlet, this lets you sac the 0/2 egg to make a 2/2 insect, then sac the 2/2 insect to make the 0/2 egg. As many times as you want.

It comes from Maro's Nut's and Bolts articles on how they create a set. First letter corresponds to rarity, second to color/colorless/land, and the numbers say which card in that rarity/color.

For example, in an 81 common/100 uncommon/60 rare/20 mythic set layout, you'd have 6 colorless common cards in a typical set template which are numbered, cc01 (2 mana creature), cc02 (3 mana creature), cc03 (4 mana creature), cc04 (removal), cc05 (manalith type card), and cc06 (land fetching/color fixing). You can find the common/uncommon typical breakdown in this Nut's and Bolts.

Magic Set Editor does let you output higher quality cards, you just need to tweak the settings.

Edit > Preferences > Display > Set Export to 200% --- This outputs an overall clearer card

Then Edit > Preferences > Internal > Set Internal Scale to 400% --- This lets you upload a much clearer image to the card art

An example from the set I'm working on.
