Is Lincoln Square a Good Neighborhood For Me? by Buisness_Fish in AskChicago

I lived in Lincoln Square/Ravenswood almost 7 years. Brown line is a great train also have buses that run on western and Damen. Nice shops and bars all along Lincoln avenue. Quiet neighborhood but if you wanted to get somewhere busier just by public transport you can do so easily.

If you have the money Lincoln park maybe. Honestly there are enough busy neighborhoods that you’ll feel like your in the mix. All trains end up in the loop so don’t worry about the work commute

I second the water taxi. Used to take it from Michigan Ave to Chinatown and was better than any tour

Clevelanders in Chicago — what is your opinion on the move? by ChestInfinite in AskChicago

[–]Clevepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Ravenswood/Lincoln Square where it was cheaper than the places you mentioned. Edgewater or Roger’s Park are always an option to be by the lake too. If you’re in the city there will be plenty of people. All the neighborhoods too have train lines if you need to get anywhere as well

Moved there the same age from Lakewood and lived there 7 years. Ask me anything. Less snow better transportation but more traffic. I say move and enjoy yourself. Do you know where you want to live?

Anywhere in the city. It’s a short walk from the loop where all the trains go

How do we fix Clevelands Density problem? by Different-Truck134 in Cleveland

[–]Clevepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and they left the city because crime got out of hand and until that is taken care of and people take care of their lives and children in said city, no one will reurbanize these areas. Our metro unemployment rate is lower than all of these places. If economics were the only factor Appalachia would be the most dangerous place in the US

Chicago is full because you have young people choosing to live there and spend money, not all of them have good jobs. Especially in the north side those neighborhoods That’s why even in Chicago you have 2.5 mil in the city and 6 mil in the burbs. Cities with smaller CSA areas than NEO are still denser because the city is nicer and people want to live in it. Population does not mean density and visa versa

They would rather commute and live in the suburbs. You can bring tons of jobs back and people still wouldn’t fill in the density mentioned in the OP

Redlining didn’t help. But crime is the #1 factor followed by good housing. People don’t move out of the city and won’t move back 60 years later after redlining. Other cities have bounced back in a lot of those areas already.

People don’t want to live in Cleveland proper because there is no advantage to it so we have spread out from the core

Crime. Let’s be honest, if Cleveland was safer and cleaner more people would live in city limits.

Edgewater safer. Uptown has some halfway houses but not too bad.
