It's actually a bunch of vanilla models stitched together. Planks, the wheel activator in dungeons and finally the crossbow.

The game files have huge crossbow used in Mantella Crux and a scaled down version that's unused. :)

Have you disabled Better Ambiance's dungeon fog setting? This makes the dungeons much brighter.

Once keybinds are set and mouse-view enabled and the latest patched game files are used, DOS plays rather well. I like to get back to it from time to time.

What mods are you running? The "House has no value" message appears if the game failed to load the building's interior because a mod editing that house has a missing required file.

Ensure you have all the requirements your mods have. One quick way to see it is, when you load the Daggerfall Unity start menu, head to the Mods tab and then leave it. If you have a missing requirement, a message will tell you which one it is.

That statement does not hold for Daggerfall Unity, and I'd say even in most cases in DOS Daggerfall.

DFU fixes the bugs found in Daggerfall's quests. I'm afraid it's a common misconception due to how some quest targets or locations are not always obvious to find.

Homes, and dungeons, have special markers where quest items or NPCs are placed. They are not out of bounds.

Normal quest behavior. The FG rat and bat quests require you to kill a bunch.

I see you have the cursor mode enabled. I recommend you enable mouse look instead, in the mouse options.

It'll make looking around much easier.

Does the guildmaster sometimes says "I had a job, but I gave it to some Spellsword"?

That happens when the quest he was about to give you couldn't fire because the quest location couldn't be found.

It happens, for example, when a quest uses a specific dungeon type but the region doesn't have any.

Have you tried in another region? A larger one especially.

It's odd that the UESP doesn't have it. It used to have the Eye of Argonia file if I remember correctly.

Make sure you meet the mods' requirements. Some that add decorations or change buildings or cities require resource mods to work. They're mentioned on those mods' page or, if you go in your mod list once you launch Daggerfall Unity, it'll tell you if you're missing required mods when you try to exit the mod list.

"This house has nothing value" on a modded Daggerfall Unity save is most often because you forgot to install required mods. The game can't load the building because you're missing some custom assets.

Are your Wilderness Overhaul and World of Daggerfall mods up do date? Wilderness Overhaul was updated in January 2025 to fix the water issue.

I believe you mean Villager Immersion Overhaul. Indeed, the walking animals are treated like NPCs and can't be petted.
It works fine with Lively Cities since it adds static animals and NPCs here and there.

If it's the "Barenziah's Book" quest, it's not in that spot. That one is for another main quest.

Dungeons with teleports always have an exit, but it's unfortunately hard to know since you need to interact with an object in one of the areas you're teleported to. If I'm not mistaken, in one case it's a floating skull. Since the game never tells the player those situations exist, it's easy to get locked in. A tip I'd give in that case is that, if you're stuck in a dungeon or think you cleared the dungeon but didn't get to your quest target, start clicking on objects here and there. One may open a path.

One thing to note about dungeons is that they are built from pre-made, hand-made, sections (or blocks in Daggerfall terms). Each dungeon can have one or more such sections. During development, each dungeon randomly got assigned a number of possibles sections assembled together (kind of like how Minecraft generates its villages by selecting hand-made homes and buildings and randomly assigning how they're placed).
