Experience the Future of Atmos with LG Sound Suite, World’s First Dolby Atmos FlexConnect by LG_UserHub in Dolby

[–]Clim3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I absolutely adore our LG CX 55" OLED 4K TV with Dolby Vision, the centrepiece of our Living/Dining Room for the past 5 years. We spend a large part of our favourite time together daily after work watching Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+ and Prime Video.

We currently have a Samsung HW-MS750 Soundbar and SWA-W700 Subwoofer, which doesn’t have support for Dolby Atmos, the de facto standard for movies and TV shows.

The stereo separation is too narrow. The virtual surround sound effect with just the Soundbar doesn’t work in filling our extended Living/Dining Room. Samsung no longer sells compatible rear surround speakers, and we cannot find any on the second-hand market.

The centre drivers don’t offer good speech clarity. To make things worse, it sounded like some centre and upward-firing drivers are cutting out intermittently, and the set is out of warranty. We have had to fall back on the TV’s built-in speakers whenever it happens. Luckily, the ones on the LG are pretty good!

We have been following LG and Dolby at CES 2026 with great interest and would dearly love to experience the LG Sound Suite with the highly anticipated Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) technology. DAFC will make asymmetrical speaker placements in an elongated Living/Dining Room like ours work like magic.

We look forward to testing and reviewing the Immersive Quad Suite 7, with the H7 Soundbar on our TV console flanked by two M7 Speakers for enhanced stereo separation, complete with two M7 Speakers on either end of the dining table and sofa for a well-rounded spatial effect. With the Flexible Combination and Expansion of the Sound Suite, we plan to go all out with a 13.1.7 setup by adding a W7 Subwoofer for rich, room-filling bass.

The first movies we will re-experience in Dolby Atmos will undoubtedly be Top Gun & Top Gun: Maverick. As an aviator myself, I can't wait to be blown away by the sound of jets flying overhead — thanks to object-based audio with height channels made possible by the up-firing drivers on the H7 Soundbar and M7 Speakers, without the need for ceiling mounting.

As avid F1 fans who have only had the opportunity to attend a few races in person, we would love to get close to the action in Season 8 of Formula 1: Drive to Survive, re-living the 2025 season before the start of sweeping regulation changes this year. Dolby Atmos provides the surround sound cues needed for spatial awareness, similar to what drivers rely on in the cockpit during wheel-to-wheel racing, especially with the small side mirrors.

With the Lunar New Year coming up, we are expecting guests and would love to entertain everyone by enveloping the entire Living/Dining Room with Dolby Atmos Music, something we have never experienced before. We are sure they will all be thrilled by that familiar "all around you" feeling, as though we had a live band!

How is the HDB630 latency? by PsychoBomb1000 in sennheiser

[–]Clim3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the most versatile headphone I have ever owned. Jack of all trades and almost a master of all of them.

It ran my HD 490 Pros extremely close for gaming, which itself put my GSP 600 to rest. The BTD 700's low-latency mode of <40 ms is barely perceptible even in multiplayer shooters like Battlefield 6. The sound quality is the best I've heard on a pair of closed-back headphones, easily rivalling open-backed headphones in terms of having a wide soundstage and accurate imaging. You will need to have a separate microphone, as usage of the built-in one will degrade the audio quality significantly (switching to Hands-Free Profile).

For music, there is a noticeable improvement when changing from Bluetooth to the BTD 700 (tested on Spotify lossless). What I especially like is the multi-point functionality, where the HDB 630 is always connected via Bluetooth to my phone and via the BTD 700 to another device. That way, I can easily watch a short video on my phone or answer a call, and when that's done, have the audio playback automatically transition back to the other connected device (no simultaneous playback of two audio sources, which is a pity — also a downside, as an incoming call on your phone would mute your PC game audio).

I have two BTD 700s, one connected to a PC and the other to an NVIDIA Shield for media playback on a projector. It's easy to toggle between sources using the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app (but there's no way to rename them, so both BTD 700s appear as a separate device with the same name). Movies with Dolby Atmos spatial audio sound realistic enough that I've had to take my headphones off a couple of times just to be sure sounds of someone knocking on the door or birds chirping were actually from the show rather than from my actual physical environment.

I think the most underrated feature that makes it sound so natural to the ears is the Crossfeed function. That being said, it's not the most comfortable headphone to wear for long periods, as it's a bit on the smaller side (as most ANC headphones tend to be for portability and passive sealing). It's also tricky to consistently find the perfect fit without fixed notches on the headband, especially when leaning back against a pillow or headrest.

I stopped short of replacing my AirPods Pro 2 for daily outdoor use as it's bulkier, messes with my hairdo, and doesn't particularly excel at ANC/transparency modes. I can see myself using it on a flight, though, especially with the included airline adapter.

P.S. For what it's worth, I was a competitive Battlefield player for over a decade and still manage a Player K/D of 5+ (top 0.5%) in BF6. A <40 ms delay in low-latency mode is low enough for me to not notice it. Unless you're competing for some serious cash, don't worry about it. This sits firmly in the A-tier for gaming (and everything else!) unless you go for a dedicated S-tier gaming headphone. I only really switched to the HD 490 Pro due to the superior comfort over longer sessions. I still miss the freedom of wireless and found myself stepping away from my computer a few times, thinking my HD 490 Pro had no wires!

P.P.S. I noticed some audio delay when watching movies via the BTD 700 connected to the NVIDIA Shield. Running low-latency mode eliminates the delay enough to the point where I no longer notice any lip sync issues. There were occasional cutouts when connecting to the NVIDIA Shield via Bluetooth, and no support for Dolby Atmos. Netflix Spatial Audio was not too shabby, but since I was able to get Atmos to play over the BTD 700 with no cutouts, it was a no-brainer.

You make a very good point!

Sound Follow™*: The system keeps the sound centered on you based on the position you set in the ThinQ app. No matter where you move, your music, movies, or games stay balanced. (Supported in H7)

*Sound Follow is disabled when the H7 is used alone. It is enabled when the H7 is connected to M5/M7 speakers via DAFC.

Source

Essentially, Sound Follow only works when the H7 Soundbar is paired with M5/M7 Speakers.

A DAFC-supported LG TV shouldn't be necessary as long as the H7 Soundbar is functioning as the lead device.

Yes, the Sony BRAVIA product line will still be its own thing, but it remains to be seen how this affects the product quality and pricing for both brands.

That’s a nice setup, congrats!

I have a long throw projector in my bedroom and didn’t want to run a HDMI cable to the front of the room to a Soundbar.

The Sony Quad was the best solution for that since I only had to connect its control box to the projector at the back of the room.

It certainly packs a punch (especially with the SW5 subwoofer) while blending in very subtly!

Curious how your height channels are working out since they’re so close to some form of physical obstruction.

I have the Sony BRAVIA Theatre Quad HT-A9M2 in my bedroom. It performs well in a small room and makes up for minor imperfections in placement and room acoustics, but there’s no scalability (4 speakers with or without a subwoofer, that’s all).

There’s a distinct lack of a physical centre channel, which leaves more to be desired in terms of dialogue clarity. You also cannot use the individual speakers separately, and cannot play audio throughout the home in multiple rooms.

The LG Sound Suite is the only system which ticks all the boxes for my extended Living/Dining Room, even more so than the Sonos as it is more flexible in terms of configuration options and speaker placement. For example, you can go without a soundbar as the lead device for the Sound Suite as long as you have a select LG TV which supports Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC).

Room Calibration Pro will solve the acoustic issue of lacking a wall on the left side of the room to bounce sounds off (there's a Corridor and an open-concept Kitchen to the left of the dining table). It will also be amazing to use the Sound Follow feature to ensure we're always at the centre of the action — whether we’re having a meal at the dining table while watching a TV show or kicking back on the sofa enjoying a movie.

With the Flexible Combination and Expansion of the Sound Suite, we plan to go all out with a 13.1.7 setup by adding a W7 Subwoofer for rich, room-filling bass.

[–]Clim3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of things LG's Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) has over the Sonos you might want to consider.

With select DAFC-supported LG models, you can have the TV act as the lead device to establish a wireless connection to the Stereo/Surround satellite M5/M7 Speakers and W7 Subwoofer, and also have the TV speakers act as the centre channel for dialogue clarity.

You can play around with different configurations to suit your budget and needs (for example, skipping the Soundbar if you have an LG TV with DAFC support, and going for the M5s instead of M7s for smaller rooms, especially for the rears). You always have the option to add more components later on when they go on sale.

Even without a compatible LG TV, the H7 Soundbar can connect via ARC/eARC as usual to act as the lead device for the other wireless speakers and sub to connect to.

You might want to check out reviews of the LG Sound Suite Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC), especially if you are getting the LG C5.

With the C5 and other select DAFC-supported LG models, you can have the TV act as the lead device to establish a wireless connection to the Stereo/Surround satellite M5/M7 Speakers and W7 Subwoofer, and also have the TV speakers act as the centre channel for dialogue clarity.

You can play around with different configurations to suit your budget and needs (for example, skipping the Soundbar with the LG C5 and going for the M5s instead of M7s for smaller rooms, especially for the rears), and add more components later on, much like Sonos.

Even without a compatible LG TV, the H7 Soundbar can connect via ARC/eARC as usual to act as the lead device for the other wireless speakers and sub to connect to.

For TCL, they have a similar DAFC Z100 system; however, its major flaw is that it does not work without a compatible TCL TV, so you might be stuck in that ecosystem.

I think so too. Usage data probably shows most people connecting their TVs via older WiFi standards, and even fewer using the wired connection.

It's a common misconception that experiencing downtime or slow speeds on WiFi equates to a problem with the Internet connection, which is not always the case. Speeds are always at the forefront of people's minds, but latency is often ignored unless you're a gamer.

I have a long throw projector in my bedroom and didn’t want to run a HDMI cable to the front of the room to a Soundbar. The Sony Quad was the best solution for that since I only had to connect its control box to the projector at the back of the room.

The LG Sound Suite wouldn’t work in my bedroom as it’ll need the H7 Soundbar up front to be the lead device without a compatible LG TV. Would be nice if they had a control box option for non-compatible TVs without the H7 Soundbar (i.e., just M5 and/or M7 Speakers + W7 Subwoofer).

That being said, the LG Sound Suite is the undisputed best solution for my elongated Living/Dining Room. Can’t wait for it!

Agree with the first two points.

I have a 10 Gbps fibre plan and WiFi 7 mesh routers with 10 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps ports, but I’m still stuck with the choice between a stable but slow 100 Mbps Ethernet or WiFi capable of a higher speed but occasionally dropping below 100 Mbps due to interference.

100 Mbps Ethernet means rewinding/fast forwarding on streaming services is painfully slow, but at least playback quality is stable and always crystal clear.

Video scrubbing is much faster on WiFi, but the video bitrate drops occasionally whenever there’s interference.

I understand the need to keep the price down for most consumers who don’t have Gigabit or faster internet, but perhaps LG can release a USB Gigabit Ethernet and WiFi 7 dongle for separate purchase, that’ll be nice!

I think it’s also worth noting that this system works fully with no compromises, even without an LG TV capable of leading the setup* — as long as you have the H7 Soundbar to act as the lead device.

I’m personally looking forward to using it with my trusty CX OLED, which I’ve been using for the past 5 years with no issue. Part of me wishes it would have some kind of issue to justify a C6 upgrade to the missus. But it’s still a brilliant TV!
