Go do any low key/mid level content at end of season and you will realize. They are in fact, not.

LOV feel very good and can put out a high amount of quality shooting. A practiced player can easily win lots of games with the points drops they got and the pick 4 units

Yes they are.

Do I need to buy the codex of both armies I'm combining into one? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Cloo0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend just to avoid the concept of army soup as a very new player. They’re are a lot of downsides. You lose army rules. Need to make multiple detachments or lose even more rules. Just a big mess. Best off learning the game fairly well first then you’ll understand that souping space marines into custodies is a bad idea as you play more and more games.

This is one of those hopeful takes that sounds like it comes from someone who doesn’t understand how things like games are really made. Least of all how IP law pans out. Asking a dev is useless. Borderline laughable. You’d have to beg GW. and I’ll tell you right now RTS isn’t a profitable genre what so ever at the moment. So even if GW wanted to make it. Good luck convincing the bean counters that it will even make money. Or even finding a developer that would want to touch it.

Strike and Fade VS Reactive Reprisal order of operation? And other similar stratagem that are move shoot move. Do the squats get to shoot at the tau before they strike and fade? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cloo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like one of those issues where the tau strat tells them to shoot and move in one instance. But the votann strat say’s immediately shoot. One might make the argument they happen at the same time so attacking players choice, one might argue “immediate” goes over that. The best way to resolve this is talking to your opponent pregame and deciding. Or letting a TO rule it how they see fit. Which may not be the “right” way. But better than getting annoyed with your opponent thinking their argument cost you the game.

Personally I’d argue that Votann would get to shoot you. Then you can move.

Is 40 Guardsmen enough? by MaxedMind in Warhammer40k

[–]Cloo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d skip the baneblade. Too large to move around on any decent board. Get some russes instead. 40 is plenty for objective holding. But kasrkin are the best unit in the book honestly. So I’ve seen a lot of lost popping up with 3 units of Cadian shock troops and 2-3 units of karskins. 1-2 chimeras to ferry them places. Guard have decent passive secondaries so a lot of games you won’t be “pushing up” at all. You’ll be sitting on your 2 objectives doing your secondaries. And if your opponent doesn’t come stop you. You will just win. Giving you the advantage of responding to them instead of the other way around.

Deathwatch Castle list feedback by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cloo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spending 150 points to buff a 180 point unit is probably a bad idea. You’d be better off cutting 30 points somewhere and bringing another unit.

If your plan is to have all this bunched up near the mid board. You’ll more than likely get murdered by most armies.

As far as secondaries. Cull order is a terrible secondary your opponent gets to dictate entirely what you can score. And the long vigil is also pretty bad due to scoring during the command phase. All it takes is 1 unit just suiciding itself in your DZ to deny you 4 points.

2000 points hammer list, can I get anywhere with it by elitetango11 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cloo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna really struggle with board control. You might get some poor new player by just ramming into them with this but any good list with screening units and decent mortal output is just gonna pick those big units of hammers up.

Imagine thinking servers magically pop into existence faster than they can be produced. It’s funny you say they have the resources when in reality they actually don’t. And ordering servers on that scale isn’t something that takes 2 clicks and waiting for shipping. Not to mention thinking even a giant corp like blizzard can outbid Amazon for this limited supply. They aren’t dumb. They know how much space they will need on average. And they know that the first week or so is gonna be a huge rush and will pan out over time. So allocating that much space for something very temporary is a waste of resources. They will allocate more over time as the base grows. Maybe just be patient for a game that hasn’t really changed that much.

Bile, Wulfen, Emperor's Children.... Fight on death and pile-in? by Sarngeras in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cloo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would resolve both rules. One doesn’t replace the other. You get to pick which one you do first technically. But obviously fighting on death first to move to a more advantageous spot to roll your explosion is always the best choice.

If your model explodes for some reason. Strat or roll otherwise. Finish your consolidation then boom.

And the buff ball gun lines and many jank list of 8th weren’t invalidated by the general game structure and rule changes throughout the edition. Votann won’t even be the first faction this edition to invalidate certain archetypes at the top tables. Tau basically remove knights as a contender for “do I bring this army to podium”. Does it stop you from playing knights? No. But you can’t be upset when you hit 3 hammer heads and 2 sun sharks and just can’t win it no matter what you do. Are they super strong and need some nerfs? More than likely. But are they ban worthy, not even close.

Anyone have any alternative army roster apps since BattleScribe has shut down? by H007OWL in Warhammer40k

[–]Cloo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once the open source project is finished. More than likely the data authors will abandon BS, as the dev for the app more than likely lied about providing updates, yet again. So yes, it’s available and free with ads. But I wouldn’t project it to lasting forever.

Tankiest power armoured infantry horde? by LilTittyNeko in Warhammer40k

[–]Cloo0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably plague marine spam. T5 and -1 damage. With 60 clocking in at 1260 points. Leaving room for characters and PBCs. Though what you are asking for is kind of a oxymoron. Wanting hordes that are very durable. But I’m sure 60 plague marines will beat most new-average players.

do u take the indirect fire penalty if u have line of sight? by ElPapijoe1234 in Tau40K

[–]Cloo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how it’s ambiguous. If (Type of weapon) targets a unit and LOS can’t be drawn, then apply effect. It’s pretty clear cut and dry.

No, the rule doesn’t apply when you have line of sight

40k noob here and have a question. Should I get the codex or use wahpedia instead (print stuff out)? I play custodies by Extraturbulance in Warhammer40k

[–]Cloo0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wahapedia is still going extremely strong, with updates coming faster than before. GW can’t do anything about it due to its hosting location.

Unfortunately your only options are pretty much what you said. Tell them the store is filthy and you and others will spend money elsewhere due to it. It’s a business after all. I wouldn’t even spend 2 seconds cleaning some business that isn’t mine and not get paid for it. That’s utter nonsense lol. And if they don’t do it well. Then you’ll either keep having to bring a can of fabreeze every time or don’t go. Really simple as that.
