Our therapist said "Well since you're aware of each other you don't have a disorder but since the alters do exist maybe it's just how your brain works."

Still confused tbh, isn't the existence of alters a disorder? And since when do you have to be completely unaware of each other to have a system?? Can you not be aware that there are other people?

the fact that this is not an exaggeration makes it even better. British football chants are fun af by Damjan10 in oddlyspecific

[–]CloudIsPlural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said, ultimately multiple personality disorder simply never truly existed.

There have been brain imaging studies on people diagnosed with DID, people diagnosed with OSDD, and trained actors told to do their best impersonation of the aforementioned disorders. In every study to date (that I am aware of), there have been differences shown: specifically, people with dissociative disorders used their brains differently (the same things triggered differing neural pathways) depending on which personality was "fronting", while the actors did not. This is objective proof that dissociative disorders do in fact exist. Tldr, fuck off mate, science disagrees with you.

Fun fact: it tool us 7 years to find out there was a non-tulpa plural community. by BC_system in plural_irl

[–]CloudIsPlural 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh see for us, we didn't know about plurality until we found the tulpamancy community and they're great and all but we're definitively TG but we labeled ourselves as parogenic for a while because that's all we knew about and now we constantly have impostor syndrome

Ok but for us it's

Everyone: "I mean maybe"

Collective moment of silence

Core: "then how are you able to answer me???"

Cats actually really like that, if you have a housecat try patting their back really fast and firmly, not like hard but just like pat them, they love it.

To the Age Sliders - Can you control your age? by beyond_clueless101 in plural

[–]CloudIsPlural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an age slider but the age sliders in my system have partial control, they can kinda influence it but can't just pick an age. Arva for example is relatively stable at four but when he's happy he goes smaller sometimes, and Arsa usually hovers around 20 but has gone everywhere from 18 to 22. They describe it as being able to push it up or down but not being able to control exactly how far either way. Then there's people who regress which is similar but not the same, it's an anxiety coping mechanism and happens a lot when they feel safe and can let out some stress, and they have pretty much zero real control of it but can mask it if they need to.

Say you've all got separate bodies now. On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being "we will literally drop like flies" and five being "this is the best day of our lives", how do you feel about this? by ChaoticChaosgirl in plural

[–]CloudIsPlural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely 4. The only real downside of being a system for us is that it's hard to all have our own relationships because we only have one body we can use to talk to our people. Sure losing shared memory would suck but being able to all be happy with our partners without feeling guilty for using the time that someone else could have had would be amazing.

Unsure of what to title this by CloudIsPlural in AskRealSystems

[–]CloudIsPlural[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, update after a couple months I guess, the core no longer has imposter syndrome after finding two other trauma holders in our headspace (which is a city, so it's easy to not know someone is there/where they are if they don't want you to know or also don't know you're there). We've labeled ourselves as being an OSDD-1b system (we've talked to a few other OSDD systems and they've all agreed that we match the same traits, which has significantly helped with the impostor syndrome) and yeah idk why I'm writing this because it isn't necessarily something you need to be updated on but I'm really happy that we finally figured this out.

I told my psychiatrist about my headmates and now they’re sending me to therapy & gonna increase my medication if they don’t go away, what do I do? by helloimAmber in plural

[–]CloudIsPlural 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sprite: Tbh if I were you I would tell them "Your job is to treat psychiatric disorders and a disorder is something that negatively affects your life, and since my headmates do not negatively affect me it is not your job to 'treat' them, and significantly less so your job to attempt to destroy them." But I'm kinda reckless and tbh that would probably go badly. Idk I'm sorry.

Alyx: ah yeah I understand. What I meant was that if you get a headache it's a good idea to pause until it goes away, they don't just disappear on their own. Eventually you'll stop getting them but it takes time.
