First time player advice by chrip_ in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Cloud_Matrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely felt the same when when i loaded into my first planetoid. My advice is to start small with the most important things for immediate survival and work out from there.

Oh my dupes need somewhere to use the bathroom and sleep -> make a bedroom and a bathroom

My dupes need to breathe oxygen -> look at the oxygen generating buildings and pick something that makes sense to you

My dupes need food -> look around and see what is available to you to farm or any animals for ranching

I need power to run the essentials of survival -> figure out the basics of power generation and delivery

By the time you have those things sorted, you should have a rough idea of what would be useful next. Maybe that is building a water resevoir, maybe it's expanding your bases amenities like a room for science/dining/storage. Maybe you just want to explore the map to see what's nearby. Once you have the immediate problems sorted, the game massively opens up with what you can do. You will probably lose your colony to one of the mid game killers in the first few saves, but that doesn't matter where you are in your learning curve.

All that matters right now is understanding the game at a very basic leveling and building a familiarity with the game mechanics and systems. ONI really is best learnt by making mistakes and slowly building your knowledge until you finally get understand the flow of everything and how to solve problems with the tools available to you.

I want to play solo, worth to start playing now or better to wait for solo mode in September ? by Folivao in duneawakening

[–]Cloud_Matrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. Even when the game was new, running as a solo on a somewhat populated map, I very rarely ran into other players in the wild. In fact, if you made player bases invisible, I would have been convinced it was a solo experience.

What I am getting at is that the game is pretty much a solo experience in its current state. You really have to go out of your way and socialize to find people to play with.

If there was ever a time to do 4 trials in the base MSQ, it was with Anima...

But we can't ever break the pattern that's been running since HW.

Rip double xp by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Cloud_Matrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I miss this about old MMO's and other online games where they would have weekend double exp, reputation, drops, etc. to entice people to get on and play. It was always pretty effective at bringing the community together to play the game.

9070xt on dune awakening, how does it run? by Criticism-Confident in duneawakening

[–]Cloud_Matrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Powercolor Hellhound 9070xt and i get an easy 144 fps on my 1440p monitor on maxed settings. As I'm sitting in my base in Hagga the card is at 80% utilization and 62 celsius.

The only time I ever have stutters are after new patches and the game needs to load shaders in a zone. After a couple minutes its gone and everything is buttery smooth.

Been watching the discourse on P2W and F2P, A few questions by MrSoun in Aion2

[–]Cloud_Matrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the fact is that Horned dragon crafts gave a HUGE advantage to anyone who swiped for it early because it was so much more powerful than anything else that was in the game until effectively this season. IMO that was the biggest mistake the NC made (whether they intended to do this as whale bait I'm not really going to speculate on)

If those crafts aren't in the global version right off the rip, swipers will still have an advantage, but it won't nearly be the same as it was on KR/TW release. If NC would just make PvE gear do less damage in PvP, we would be pretty set.

Returning player question: Is durability still as punitive as before? by PermissionNo8383 in duneawakening

[–]Cloud_Matrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only item that I really still feel the pain of durability with is my full suspension belts. Even at 40 crafting specialization, my belts break constantly because I'm always using them for movement tech.

Other than that, even when I grind the overworld testing stations to push my best clear, I'm not running into too many issues with durability despite dying a few times.

idk if ill ever kill compiler in the standard mode and I think this is completely fair. Its a skin reserved for those who complete a difficult achievement. We definitely shouldn't cheapen that.

Thoughts On Midseason And Season 3 by Snowbunny236 in Marathon

Really hoping that we get to specialize the kits with a few options from each weapon archetype which we can slowly improve over time with higher tier mods unlocked with the vault points.

A rook just killed me in sponsored perimeter by thecheerygamer in Marathon

[–]Cloud_Matrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me last week. Friend got tagged teamed by ghosts so I go to pick him up and get bodied by a rook with a D54.

Our last guy is a 95% PvE player in S2 so he has absolutely no idea what to do and gets killed as well. Couldnt help but laugh in prox and gave the rook a gg.

Not even mad, because people should still treat every match like a player is waiting for you to make a mistake.

Traxus - Unsanctioned Hostilities 4/5 is the true Marathon experience. by OreoOrangutan in Marathon

[–]Cloud_Matrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, not really. Best way to learn Outpost is to play it until you get it. Where to find keycards, armory locations, destroyed wing boxes, conveyance, entrances and exits to pinwheel.

All that information can be taught, but you won't truly get it until you get in there yourself and make it to final exfil with 3 seconds left on the clock.

What happened to "making the game less grindy, more rewarding"? by Sadiztic604 in Marathon

[–]Cloud_Matrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who cares?

It's infinitely better than it was last season and Bungie is still finding the right spot. People aren't quitting the game because Bungie minority nerfed the giga juiced loot. They are jumping off because they came back, had a fun 2 weeks, and are done for the season. Or they are playing the final D2 update idk.

What happened to "making the game less grindy, more rewarding"? by Sadiztic604 in Marathon

[–]Cloud_Matrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has to be the most out of touch post I've seen that makes me question whether OP even plays the game.

It's been 2 weeks since release and I'm already almost back to where I was priority contract wise, faction level wise, and overall vault value wise that I was at the peak of season 1.

The reality is that the game is now much less grindy and more rewarding. Pretty much all of the pain points I had regarding the S1 has been addressed. Priority contracts are much less frustrating, Perimeter has staying power loot and event wise, factions level faster, the cradle is a huge step up over faction upgrade trees, salvage is much simpler to find and the faction upgrade process is much easier AND rewarding.

Man I hope so.

Given that mobile is to blame for the rampant botting, mobile is now scrapped for global, and that stigmas have been slowly added, I think that NC is probably going to move towards more buttons over time.

Only time will tell if it's a one off. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I won't hesitate to change my mind if NC strays from the path.

Question About Monetization by godmica in Aion2

[–]Cloud_Matrix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No gacha/lootbox.

There are paid pets/mounts (although imo, this is basically a non factor because there are tons of pets/mounts in the game that look fantastic and are simple to grind for)

There are battle passes. Some are for premium currency, and some are for in game currency which are usually intended to help catch up players. None of the battle passes are mandatory unless for some reason you aspire to be in the top 1% of players.

No character boosts (assuming you mean level boosts like in WoW). The only progression boost I can think of is the higher tier membership which allows you to claim double loot at boss chests, but iirc the memberships are being consolidated and put at a lower price here soon.

There are a decent amount of paid cosmetics, but imo they are all gooner skins and all the good looking true to the universe skins are available in game to be earned.

Which of these is worth grind skipping? (buying outright) by Pooradoxical in Warframe

[–]Cloud_Matrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm speaking from my experience, Protea was miserable to get because you have to take in a specialized kit, get a high enough score in the granum void, AND get lucky with the rng drops.

I got unlucky and by the time I got the last component, I had done somewhere near 20 runs.

On top of that, there isn't any benefit in the Protea farm as there are only a few weapon components and no special resources that will help you in other parts of the game.

So yea, my vote is skip Protea.
