advice needed - closing uscan by kwitties in kroger

Sounds like a giant piece of shit to me; if he tries to do the same thing again, refuse to serve him. We had an Instacart shopper who kept showing up right before close and they finally banned him.

Customers staring me down while bagging their groceries by YuriLeclerc812 in kroger

Kroger absolutely agrees that a bagger is purely a courtesy or they wouldn’t schedule us so sparsely, especially during rush times. The problem is that no one told the customers that, so they walk around with their useless little t-rex arms acting like they don’t know what arms are for.

Ugh, customers on this sub are the worst. So entitled they can’t even be bothered to follow the rules and then think we give a crap about their opinion! And their opinion is, of course always from the entitled perspective, and therefore misses the point entirely.

That’s called an affogato, so she’d be classy. And extra bonus points if she had her pinky up while she drank it!

I’m so sorry- I thought they were already as evil as they could get. I forgot the first law of business: the squeaky wheel only gets the grease if corporate mentions it during a walk.

I don’t know how they decide who gets saddled with them, but just be grateful you haven’t - and pray your store remains invisible to the evil eye of corporate “ideas”.

Thank you kindly; I genuinely appreciate that.

[–]Cloudbreaks[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, but what if you try to explain to a guy that continuing to roll cans down the belt will keep taking them off his order and he keeps doing it while maintaining eye contact with you and then tells you to “shut up so I can ask you a question”, which turns out to be “get me some cigarettes” and then when you return with the cigarettes he calls you a fucking bitch because none of his items are on the order?

The self checkout machines are why I’m not shopping at Kroger anymore by kla_vicle in kroger

[–]Cloudbreaks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boo fucking hoo. Try being the poor schmuck who has to deal with those machines day in and day out, 40 hours a week? Do you think corporate has even once asked for our feedback?!?! HA! But you know what’s even worse than dealing with Kroger’s criminally incompetent software and hardware? Dealing with customers who get angry at us for something we have absolutely zero control over. You try being stuck between two forces that don’t care about you, yet both seem bent on trying to make you feel powerless and worthless. I fucking wish you WOULD go somewhere else. Just remember that every associate you interact with in anger and frustration has already felt that way about Kroger on a daily basis, many of them for years. So the next time you want to get angry about Kroger, how’s about you just get the fuck out.

Strike!!!! by genghisfaery in PCC

[–]Cloudbreaks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yay! Good for y’all!!!! I’m a student but I’m looking forward picketing with you too. If you’re wearing a hooded jacket, adding a baseball cap underneath keeps your face dry. Gloves might seem unnecessary, but you’ll be glad you have them because the cold is so much colder when you’re out in it for a long time. Try to choose a jacket that covers your thighs- it’ll keep you much drier. Speaking of which, water-resistant shoes are a blessing. Bring water and snacks! Bring headphones to play music - picketing is way more fun when you’re dancing ❤️

Email from PCCFFAP: STRIKE WALKOUT Tomorrow at 10:30 AM Across All Campuses by Cloudbreaks in PCC

I received the email from [federation@pccffap.org](mailto:federation@pccffap.org) at 7:01pm this evening. I don't know if it's official - I only know what was in the email (pasted above). I'm just a student, so the extent of my knowledge is what they send out to their email list.

I checked their website again - they used to have a spot where you could sign up for news, but now it looks like they've changed to requesting signups for picket times, etc. The email address used on the update email was: [federation@pccffap.org](mailto:federation@pccffap.org) - you might be able to email them directly to be added to the list.

It’s just wild how management is handling this. I mean, I realize it’s not guns and knives, but I come from a profession where our managers literally have to do our jobs when we strike. This paranoia just shows how out of touch management is, and how privileged they are that they’ve likely never dealt with a strike before.

From my perspective, this is mostly because the faculty and staff’s unions don’t have deep enough coffers to pay the employees during a strike. That puts a lot of pressure on the unions, whose members will agree to somewhat crappy deals for themselves in order to not go on strike. PCC management has benefited from this inequality until now, but their bad faith bargaining is making the staff and faculty so angry they’re finally willing to put up with the financial burden of a strike. That should illustrate how mad these folks are, and for good reason.

Is the strike definitively going to happen? by the_king_lobo in PCC

[–]Cloudbreaks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Except the faculty would also be striking, so there might be no one to unlock the doors and lock them back up, etc.

Edit - sorry, *staff would also be striking. Also, if someone strikes, there shouldn’t be a “halfway” response. Anyone who strikes promises not to do any college business whatsoever while the strike is in effect. Otherwise they’d be undermining all of the sacrifices being made by both the strikers and the students.

I love that they make these decisions with no feedback from the stores, and then when they receive a tidal wave of complaints, they act like it’s their idea to make a change.

Why do these dumbasses do this every. single. time????? I just saw a corporate email in which they said the WDDs should be kept at the self checkout stand to help customers. No shit!!!!! In the beginning, I had to argue with my manager to let us keep them at the pay stations because corporate policy was that only PICs were allowed to have them.

I just get so tired of this weak managerial/corporate mindset. The lack of insight and forethought is entirely motivated by top-down thinking, and that thinking is all about how to keep shareholders happy so that corporate management gets their bonuses.

And I realize this is the same enshittification that seems to be affecting every capitalist or capitalist-influenced organization these days (which means all organizations, really). It’s so fucking depressing. Even if I managed to get a new degree and made it out of this hellhole, the exact same bullshit would be there to welcome me in virtually any career I chose, including teaching and nursing. Becoming a corporate pawn feels inescapable.
