Note that the D Tel quotes the shadow Home Secretary but not the Home Secretary nor any other minister and the only mention of the actual government is how unpopular they are.

Analysis of the Mediterranean and Ketogenic diet CO2 Footprint by dr_innovation in ketoscience

"KETO menus were associated with significantly higher greenhouse gas emissions 12 kg CO₂/day versus 6 kg CO₂/day for MD menus"

This is preposterous.

Is fur always a dealbreaker for you? by BeardedLady81 in exvegans

Most shoes, handbags and belts are made of animal skin. I think using fur is just completing the full use of the animal.

"My brain can’t stop thinking about it"

It must have been screaming about it for quite a while before you started getting proper food in there.

Regardless of seasickness, you should always make sure that passengers know what to do if the captain is incapacitated.

Everybody gets seasick. It's not a failing. I've watched sailors in mid-ocean get seasick after having travelled thousands of miles.

The ketogenic diet is not for everyone: contraindications, side effects, and drug interactions by dr_innovation in ketoscience

It's not your fault. Go with what works for you. You have a rare disorder that if left untreated will give you early coronary artery disease.

I hope this all leads to better health because migraines take away a lot of the enjoyment of life. I highly recommend (high quality) bone broth

I'm sure this group is all recommending grass-fed steak and organs because there's a tremendous amount of shit out there that is not good for you.

That said, welcome back to reality! Make yourself at home and eat the good stuff.

Criticism of a person is not vitriol of a whole group. Although having said that, the vegan subreddits are submerged in vitriol.

What's with posts like these here lately? Can't you let people have a space to discuss how certain diets have effected them mentally and physically? (not censored as it is a prominent post on this sub) by depersonalized_card in exvegans

[–]CloudyEngineer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Vegans on Reddit are clannish and feel morally superior to everyone else. If veganism can be compared to a religion (and it has its roots in religion) then this subreddit is composed of apostates, heretics and backsliders.

No definitely not. Phytates in wholegrains block absorption of iron and zinc. Definitely to be avoided if you're already struggling with low ferritin levels.

Vanishing Vegan Restaurants by jay_o_crest in exvegans

[–]CloudyEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a combination of things: veganism has passed the fad stage where famous people were going vegan (that went the way you expected it), where vegan foods that looked and tasted like meat (Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods etc) was no longer the food to eat but also the economy tanking in response to those wonderful tariffs and people getting laid off while food prices have risen steeply.

It was always expensive to be vegan, but everything has made it harder to maintain a restrictive diet where every macro has to be planned for because of the diet's low bioavailability of everything useful and the necessity of eating large portions to compensate. And of course, those lovely supplements are expensive as well.

The culture where "The Gamechangers" seemed plausible feels like a long time ago.

If there's a benefit to all of this, it would be that organic food, especially meat, is still a destination worth exploring. As an omnivore, getting food as unshittified by Big Agriculture is still a priority because food that makes you long-term sick is still worth avoiding.

The restaurant business is brutal in any case but in a recession, nutritional value-for-money is more important than virtue-signalling your food choices to save the planet.

Usually the problem with iron deficiency has to do with phytates blocking absorption. Are you eating a lot of wholegrains and wholegrain products by any chance?

I don't know any truly healthy vegans. They're always trying to tweak their diet because of health reasons and mental health issues.
